My friend was at the Vault a few doors down. It's a pretty dope cigar bar. They sell liquor there but I'm not a drinker so it was cool that this chocolate shop was a few steps away. It was perfect timing to stop in for an afternoon caffeinated beverage and a treat. I have been to a lot of parts of Meridian but I didn't even know this shop even existed. Where have I been? This shop is my ideal hang out spot. They have coffee and chocolates, two of my favorite things. And the chocolates here didn't disappoint. They all looked so good. The chocolates were prettily lined up in the bright display case. There was also a variety of packaged goodies too. I'm a visual eater so I like to pick out my own chocolates. Making a decision to which one to get will be the hard part. I got a a couple americanos started for my friend and I. We got iced americanos with sugar free white chocolate and cream. While our drinks were being worked on, I ate my caramel marshmallow milk chocolate heart and checked out all the merch on the floor. I did a run through all the treats in the little paper bags. The chocolate dipped potato chips caught my eye. I love me a sweet and salty treat. I love the Valentines day packaged chocolates. A big red heart full of sweets. There is also cards, art work, stickers and homemade goods. This is a great place to grab a quick and easy gift. My chocolate was so good! The marshmallow, caramel and milk chocolate is such a winning combination. I could have eaten another 2 or 3 pieces but I had some chocolates earlier in the day so I really had to control myself. The americanos looked really good. The sweet gal that made them did a good job. The espresso was very present. The half and half did help with the bitterness of the espresso. The white chocolate was there but I could have used a hair more or a packet of sweetner to make it a tad sweeter. I didn't see any sweetener packets anywhere so I'll have to ask them next time if they have any. But the espresso was just what I needed to keep me going. This venue is very cute. They have all sorts of options here besides coffee and chocolates. There are also Italian sodas, gelato, milk shakes and espresso in a scoop of ice cream. The espresso and ice cream combo is definitely a must try the next time I'm in! There is also a happy hour between 4 to 6 so that will be a great time to come in for a sweet treat. Looking forward to coming back and trying other sweets that are offered here, especially that espresso and ice cream concoction. read more

Found this place while searching out the best local Chai tea and instead found absolutely delicious homemade ice cream and chocolate. They do have the chai tea but instead opted for a scoop of the chocolate brownie and the vegan chocolate homemade ice cream and a homemade chocolate truffle.....Yum!!! I was really looking forward to this place. First of all the young lady behind the counter was not very friendly. Coffee (just plain old coffee) was listed on the menu but she said they don't sell it. Then perhaps they remove it from the menu. Hidden little gem. Such a cute ice cream shop. They have a lot of cute local vendor items and super reasons prices. The ice cream choices are great and the chocolate ones even better. The variety was great. We got the 2 scoop waffle cone with cookies and cream & strawberry...10/10. Waffle cone was perfection. Such a great local business in DT Meridian. Came here during triple digits hoping to cool off with some ice cream. Two youngsters working behind the counter today, very friendly. Great service. This place is truly a hidden gem! Super fun local place to go get ice cream or if you're looking for a gift with local flair this is an excellent place to find a gift! We ended up getting the raspberry ice cream and a scoop of nondairy coconut ice cream. The waffle cone was crispy and delicious and the ice cream was fruitful and flavorful and delicious! Wonderful, little local shop in downtown Meridian. Found it last year and got coffee and chocolates. Since that visit, they changed the space - utilizing it for sit down tables, instead of the artsy items they sell. Local artist wears are now along the wall and I love checking them out. Besides the chocolates in the case, truffles are available in gift boxes . . . and they are beautiful! So glad I saw them, as I've been looking for gifts for out-of-state friends and relatives. Their ice cream is so rich and has intense flavors, especially strawberry. The downtown area is slowly growing and I hope this shop continues to grow with it. read more

Truffles Etc. On 7/31/21, I visited Truffles Etc. In Meridian. It is a cute store, full of local art, that sells handmade Truffles and ice cream. I didn't buy anything but I tried 4 ice cream samples: Honey Vanilla, Bourbon Pecan, Cherry Cordial and Jan's Delight. They were good. One of my friends ordered a scoop of Jan's Delight ice cream, which is cardamom and marzipan soaked cake. She enjoyed it but thought the cardamom was a bit strong. Then she got a bite of the marzipan and thought that was a little strong too. All I could taste in my sample was the cardamom. My other friend bought a caramel. She thought it was a bit stale due to the texture of the caramel. I intend to go back at some point and try a scoop of ice cream. The reason I didn't get a scoop then it's because I couldn't find a flavor that I liked well enough and they don't do scoops of two different flavors. read more

Yesterday I had one of the most delightful experiences when I walked into Truffles etc. I was greeted with a warm and friendly smile from Annika, the lovely attendant. YES! YES! YES! Alright, first of all...I'm not much of a chocolate person. I'm not a huge fan of any dessert, but chocolates especially tend to hurt my teeth. I know, I'm lame. But... I love to give away chocolates and I always fill my husband's and children's stockings with handmade candies found local in the Treasure Valley. I usually have to drive downtown or to one of the bazaars to find these treasures. But not this year! Truffles Inc has opened up a brick and mortar in downtown Meridian and it is perfect. Stunning truffles fill the glass case, pre-packaged gift boxes are carefully laid out to fit each person in your life (vodka, wine and beer chocolate are all options!), and incredible house made ice cream and hot espresso drinks are also available. When I went in mid November 2020, they had super cute local crafts available for purchase as well. I was also able to take care of the gift for my Mother in Law and a convalescing friend. I will also be ordering some custom hot chocolate bombs for our Christmas Tree cutting tradition. I spoke with the young lady behind the counter for quite a bit. She's the daughter of the owners - mom makes the truffles and dad makes the ice cream. Also brother makes the ceramic plant pots available for purchase. A true family-run business. This adorable little shop is a must try whenever you're downtown Meridian. The coffee is to die for. And the affogato....good lord. They have a Texas Sheet Cake ice cream in the summer and with espresso over the top, it is the ultimate caffeinated dessert. Did I mention there are truffles? And amazing truffles at that? I highly recommend literally every flavor. Each one is made in house, just like the ice cream, and pairs perfectly with any cup of coffee. The truffles are fine. Honestly, almost everything that gets called a "truffle" nowadays, which is often just a fancy chocolate, falls flat to me. If you've ever had a really good truffle, you know what I mean. But this place is still above average for that sort of thing. It does not stand up to The Chocolate Bar in Boise, which has been my gold standard for years, preferring them to much more expensive places in Seattle and Portland. Where this place really shines is the ice-cream. The ice-cream is the real star here, by far. This ice-cream is right up there with Salt & Straw, better even. Probably right up there with the real old-school places in New York. I can't say enough good about it. The quality is top-notch. Very few if any imperfections. And the lemon blueberry flavor is just...wow. Lastly, the local art selection is much better than one would expect from this area. Very good stuff, and makes a much more heartfelt gift than the same old Sino junk from Target or WalMart. P.S. Oopsies, I accidentally hit "no tip" instead of "custom tip" on their register last time I was in, and felt bad because I didn't bring cash either, and the lady was super helpful, really the service is fantastic every time I go in. P.P.S. My only complaint is that sometimes they give you a bag covered in glitter, not something I want around my food, also there is the environmental aspects of glitter to consider. read more

This is a bit of an overdue review, but let's just say Truffles etc does not disappoint. I happened upon this shop as I got sushi from Sushi Shack across the street. This area is filled with little shops that were so adorable, I had to wander around to see what was in the neighborhood. It was during this little exploratory trip that I found Truffles etc. Truffles etc not only has such friendly staff, they also had a delightful amount of chocolates, ice cream, and caffeinated drinks to choose from. I chose an Early grey truffle and a lavender truffle. My lavender truffle also has pieces of lavender on top to accentuate the flavor. Each of their displayed chocolates were beautiful and unique. There were so many things to look at, it's definitely a place to visit more than once. Additionally, they have board games to play while you enjoy some of their snacks. Wow!! This place has some of the best truffles I have ever had! We popped in this afternoon and bought a few to try and the peanut butter truffle was phenomenal.
