This is a fantastic little coffee shop. It's very cozy and warm. The staff is friendly, attentive and quick -- I was in a hurry when I came in (5 minutes before a meeting I needed to call into) and was able to get a latte and was quickly directed to the meeting room they have upstairs...just in time for my meeting. Even the patrons where in a great mood. While I waited for my coffee, I chatted with an older woman who was completely _thrilled_ to be getting her coffee there. Not cold meaning room temperature but rather cold like they were frozen and never heated through on the press. And that was after waiting ten minutes for the sandwich. This is a phenomenal place for coffee. Friendly service, focused but premium menu, and fresh baked goods that pair perfectly with your coffee drink. We came here during the Hamilton pumpkin festival and the staff inside was very cheery and enthusiastic. Our vanilla latte came with the absolute perfect balance of espresso and milk, with just the right touch of vanilla flavoring that wasn't cloyingly sweet. The espresso itself was full bodied and aromatic with no discernible burnt taste, unlike your typical Starbucks drink. All in all, great place that we'd revisit in the future. read more

I love a good cozy coffee shop. True West hit the spot and provided me with a great healthy lunch and caffeine jolt to keep me going as my wife and I explored the area. I had a surprisingly large Blue Apple salad that had apples, blue cheese of course!, walnuts and a tasty dressing for a very reasonable price. I drank a delicious Pot o' Gold: caramel & vanilla and highly recommend it. My wife and I sat outside and soaked up some rays and overall had a very nice experience. I've had their coffee once - I go to class near downtown hamilton. I would go more often - BUT parking is so hard to find. Once the lot fills up, I haven't found any other place to park. First, I really want to leave a five star review. They do almost everything extremely well. Great coffees with more variety than your local Starbucks, great ambience inside on a charming 2 story layout with a floor passthrough, great creatively named food options, and a drive-through that gets you through in good time. So why only four stars? On our last trip back up north, we ordered breakfast several times (as we tend to do when in Hamilton). The sandwiches were good, but this time key ingredients - bacon and avocado in particular - were in very short supply. I mean, half inch thick, inch and a half long, and paper thin obligatory bacon slice in a large sandwich or wrap. We thought it might have been a one time thing but this happened days in a row. If they are in short supply, I'd have preferred they tell me they are out of those options so I can pick something with the appropriate balance of ingredients. Correct this and no question this is 5 easy stars and I recommend True West 100% still, just go elsewhere if you want food with healthy amounts of certain ingredients. read more

The coffee is good and the chocolate chip cookies are probably the best I've ever had. My biggest gripe about this place is it takes FOREVER. If you are in a rush AT ALL- do not even think about stopping. If you take the turn to go through the drive thru and see a car already there, just keep it moving. I am almost never able to get through without a 15 min wait in the drive thru. I really want to support local business and I know staff shortages are affecting wait times everywhere. I can't express how much I LOVE True West! I come in at least once or twice a week for lunch or some iced coffee. The food is always absolutely delicious to me and the fact that the atmosphere is so cozy allows me to get work done without getting distracted like I do at home. I HIGHLY recommend trying the George Bailey sandwich. I get it every single time I come in and it has never once disappointed me! (I come in A LOT). I came here because of the positive reviews, but quickly regretted it. We ordered 2 cappuccinos and a pumpkin scone. First bad sign was the barista taking my scone out of a giant red lid Tupperware and throwing it on a cold plate. It was super dry clearly not fresh. Too cool for school and the food is dee-lish. This place has such character...everything you'd expect in a hip urban café, as in either hipster or hippie, take your pick. So Bohemian and artsy and genuine. I got such a cool vibe when I walked in which was only reinforced when I saw the friendly Fortune Cat waving to me from the order counter. Menu's on a chalk board, take your time and order when you're ready. They'll bring it out to you. My group of four ordered four different sammies as well as different beverages. I got The Hippie, and man was it good. Soft and fresh wrap embracing a generous spread of hummus, with greens, avocado, feta. Creamy with a bit of crunch. My iced coffee was smooth, deep, rich, and thirst quenching. My three friends all loved their meals too. I chose the apple on the side over the chips since I'm watching right now, and was SO jealous because they serve Miss Vickie's chips which are da bomb, and the rest of the table all got them. The staff were young, friendly, polite and prompt. I think anyone of any age and type of person will love this coffee house, with the possible exception of suits. Best coffee shop in Hamilton? They're always quite busy, but I greatly appreciate the staff willing to bring coffee to dine-in customers when it's really hectic. This place is just adorable. I really love to hang out here when I get the chance. I'm in love with their chai tea latte, and I've seen them make a great cappuccino as well. The staff is usually pretty friendly, not as stuck up as at other small coffee shops. Most of all I just love the atmosphere! It's nestled in a beautiful little spot in downtown Hamilton, right next to a nice quiet alley/resting spot with some beautiful foliage. The windows are huge and make the space feel very open and one with the outside surroundings. You can come here, get a treat and just look out the windows at some beautiful architecture and the gentle bustle of downtown. It's a great little nook. read more
