The other day my daughter and I just needed some house keys made and we stumbled across this gem of a hardware store! They have so many interesting things here. It's not like any other hardware store I've ever been to. They have army surplus, tactical gear & antiques in addition to all of the other hardware "stuff" that you find at a hardware store. The customer service is exceptional too! When I called them this morning to check for a certain product, the outgoing message said they have party rentals also. This is our second time here. Each time we had unusual plumbing issues. BOTH times we got IMMEDIATE help, and left with solutions from intelligent people. (Plumbing is NOT our thing.) They didn't try to sell us anything, they only tried to help us solve our puzzling problems. The place is neat, well organized, and has everything. It's tempting to go to Home Depot. Instead, actually get what you need, not just what's in stock. They carry such a wide range of items. I brought them an old leaking kitchen faucet, they had the the cartridge in stock. You can still buy parts there. Not the usual big box store mantra, throw it away and buy a new crap one from China. I love this place. They have the best selection of stuff you need. Every time I need to get something for my body shop I go there first. I love the personal attention they give and they are always happy to help find anything you need. I have gone to that store and asked for the most random thing and they will somehow have what I need. I don't know how they do it. I go to this store before I go to Home Depot or OSH. No joke!! This store is the best. I always go there first. Trust me. It is a wonderful and diverse mix of Great Products and hard to find items in the County. The service and knowledge is hard to beat. One of the things I really like about this store is the great selection of military gear. Not only do they have regular surplus stuff, but also International military items and antiques, such as WWII surgical and equipment and Swiss Army bayonets. The staff is great! True Value is incredible and their customer service never ceases to amaze me. I'm in the hospitality industry and I wish some of the people working here were working on my team! I've been coming here for a few years, and I would go totally out of my way just to get fulfill my hardware needs from True Value. I am not handy at all but every time I ask questions they explain it to me or show me what to do, and when I walk out of that store I'm happy and extremely confident in the project I'm working on thanks to their staff. Also Victor is awesome, he's helped me a few times and he's just a pleasure to work with when you need help and unbelievably knowledgeable. If you need something, he or the rest of their staff isn't just going to give you an aisle number like home depot, they are going to help you as if they were working on the project themselves. Bypass Home Depot. This is the hardware store for anyone who values knowledgeable customer service. I have frequented this store for almost 12 years. Every time I walk in, I am immediately approached by someone who points me in the right direction. A few years ago, I needed to color match paint for my house. Jim did an amazing job. It was absolutely perfect. It is worth a few extra pennies to have someone direct you to exactly what you need. I save tons of time and know that I'm leaving with exactly what I need. read more

Sooooooo much better then going to Home Depot when you actually need help with something. The folks in this store are extremely helpful and knowledgable. When ever I'm not sure if a tool will work for the job...they don't hesitate to open it for me or let me try it out and bring it back. They have even gone so far as to sell me 1/3rd of a box of floor staples! When I said I wouldn't need the whole box, the sales guys said "no problem, take it home, use what you need and bring back what you don't." He made sure all the cashiers knew that I would be coming back with a partial box and when I finally did the return, it was seamless. Everybody knew what was going on. Only wierd thing is that on a few occasions, I have heard, some pretty personal conversations going on amongst employees. Not that I really care, but sortof makes me feel like I am intruding on something. One guy was having an extended conversation on the phone, loud voice, carried throughout the store. Wierd, but still ok, and I'll take that any day over the rat maze that is Home Depot! read more
