The sales rep, Raven, who took my call was kind, understanding, polite, and extremely helpful with my requests. Everyone there had a team mentality, where all of the workers knew each other and their duties, but most importantly they were willing to help in the best way that they could. I could tell that they really care about the instruments.

I took my P4DC Takamine to David to have the action lowered (typical of Takamine from what I've…read moreheard). Having a lot of money already wrapped up in my guitar, I was a little hesitant to have the kind of work done that was necessary to reach my goal. He explained how he would have to remove about .095" of material from the saddle without having to adjust the neck (which he explained would not lower the action across the entire fret board). This made me nervous because the 2,000 dollar guitar was going to be modified forever. He has an Erlewine Neck Jig with a line of precision dial indicators for measuring neck deflection, and measuring tools to gauge the action. He explained the purpose of the tool to alleviate any apprehension I had about modifying my guitar. In the end, he lowered the action perfectly, and did a small adjustment on the truss rod so that the action was the same across the board. The end result was perfect. I have a friend who plays professionally who played it and said it was one of the smoothest and most playable guitars he ever enjoyed. Dave also set up my Gretsch 6120 and restrung it with flatwound strings and again, perfect. He is ultra-careful with the instruments brought into his shop. I highly recommend Dave if you are looking for a quality luthier in the Binghamton area. He is top shelf and his pricing is very reasonable. Ric Chrysler

I was…read moreself taught for about a year and I could play chords and maybe a little bit of finger picking on my own, but other than that, I'd hardly call myself a guitarist or musician. With John, I've learned tons of theory, (scales, keys, etc.) technique, (tapping, fast picking, sweeping, etc.) and really cool songs I never thought I'd have been able to do without him helping me to realize I could. I am very pleased to have John as a teacher and he has helped me leaps and bounds to be closer and closer to becoming a musician.
