this is THE place to go if you need work done on your guitar/bass or amp in the binghamton area…read more friendly people who are very knowledgeable. i was putting together a bass last summer and there were a few things i couldn't do myself. they did them for $50. guitar center gave me an estimate of $120. i saved $70 by going to Binghamtone. back in 2006 i was having trouble with an amp. i took it to Hyle's in Johnson City and they wanted $60 just to look at the thing. i just got an amp fixed at Binghamtone for $48, i'd hate to see what Hyle would have charged to do more than look at it! they have a cool selection of unique amps for sale too, as well as vintage and used guitars and basses. i'll never go anywhere else for a repair, please support these guys!

I took my P4DC Takamine to David to have the action lowered (typical of Takamine from what I've…read moreheard). Having a lot of money already wrapped up in my guitar, I was a little hesitant to have the kind of work done that was necessary to reach my goal. He explained how he would have to remove about .095" of material from the saddle without having to adjust the neck (which he explained would not lower the action across the entire fret board). This made me nervous because the 2,000 dollar guitar was going to be modified forever. He has an Erlewine Neck Jig with a line of precision dial indicators for measuring neck deflection, and measuring tools to gauge the action. He explained the purpose of the tool to alleviate any apprehension I had about modifying my guitar. In the end, he lowered the action perfectly, and did a small adjustment on the truss rod so that the action was the same across the board. The end result was perfect. I have a friend who plays professionally who played it and said it was one of the smoothest and most playable guitars he ever enjoyed. Dave also set up my Gretsch 6120 and restrung it with flatwound strings and again, perfect. He is ultra-careful with the instruments brought into his shop.
