I've been a guitar player for 45 years and my oldest guitar is 27. I took it in to see if it needed new frets, or at the very least the frets dressed. The tech said that it looks like it has another few years in it before that needs to happen. So, instead of trying to upsell me, he said all it needs is a tune up. I just saved a few hundred dollars. Plus, the shop is quiet, and there are no metal guitarists showing off their shredding skills. It more of a showroom with a no pressure salesman ready to help as needed. Call to make an appointment. read more

After searching for a year and a half for the perfect PRS, I found it on their website. I requested additional photos which they immediately provided. The guitar arrived in fantastic condition and it's the first guitar I've ever received that had been set up properly. I can't say enough about them and their exceptional customer service. Kudos to Ish Guitars. read more

I drove from Rochester, NY, to ISH Guitars (1929 Teall Ave, Syracuse, NY) to purchase a 1955 Gibson ES-175 guitar. I am a beginner guitarist. Throughout the entire process, I knew this would be an excellent company. The showroom is designed with the customer in mind. It is bright and comfortable. Tom and Jay arrived on time for the appointment. They answered my questions thoroughly and clearly. Everything went smoothly. They were very open about how they calculated the trade-in value for the guitars I brought for trade. Everything was transparent. I purchased the guitar and am completely satisfied. It's easy to recommend a store when everything goes smoothly. It's during a "hiccup" that you see the full picture. Well, there was a "hiccup." When I arrived home and tried to play the guitar, it didn't work! (Spoiler alert - operator error!) I sent them an email that evening. They called me the next day at 9 AM. Concerned, they asked a series of questions. Problem solved! I hadn't turned up the gain enough. Once I did, the guitar sounded perfect. ISH Guitar is the place to go when you want to be treated with respect, pay a fair price, and know that if there is a "hiccup," they will be very responsive to work with you to fix the issue. read more

I am successful musician who enjoys great instruments, bad experience with this company they have a great selection of instruments but are very arrogant about the business, rude, does not care about the customer my wife tried to purchase a 12,000$ bass for me for Christmas & they blocked her # so she could not call I guess at this point why would I let her purchase anything from these individuals give your money to people that appreciate the musicians that keep them in business! I have had two guitar setups at Ish. Both were done well and quickly. My only complaint about them is parking is difficult unless you have the world's smallest car. read more

Another Californian reporting here! As a first-time customer of Ish Guitars, I am satisfied! Like some others, I first discovered Ish Guitars on Reverb and always enjoyed perusing its beautiful collection of instruments. This month, the chance to acquire the bass of my dreams presented itself, and I certainly could not miss it! Jesse's congenial nature throughout the transaction impressed me. He was not only responsive and attentive during our e-mail exchanges, but also demonstrated incredible patience with me to make it happen. The bass was shipped out in a timely manner, and the instrument meticulously packed. Upon opening, the instrument was clearly prepared with care to bring the customer the finest of first impressions - truly, a magical moment for me. :) It is still somewhat surreal that the instrument of my dreams is finally a reality - can't wait to play it tomorrow when the sun is back up! I am absolutely thrilled, and thank Jesse and Ish Guitars with my warmest regards. read more

I happened in to Ish Guitars today, looking for an Ukulele, they didn't just have 1 Ukulele but had a very nice selection of varying playing levels from beginner on up, the color selections were great. The young man that helped me was pleasant and helpful, he didn't try to push a more expensive model, listened to what I was after and directed me to the proper instrument. They didn't try to sell me anything I didn't need. I asked if I needed a pick and they were honest and said no. I like that, they aren't trying to squeeze that extra buck from you and their prices are most definitely right. I was quite impressed with all the various guitars they carried, some very beautiful instruments can be found at Ish Guitars. It was nice to see that they also offer lessons as There was a young girl there taking guitar lessons.. they also offer Ukulele lessons. I'll be sure to tell all my guitar playing friends about this wonderful, homey vibe, guitar store. May they have much success and serve Syracuse and the surrounding area for many years to cone. read more

I met Ish Guitars owner Jesse Wilson several weeks before his grand opening in December 2014. Since then, I've purchased two basses & numerous accessories from him, and also had a guitar worked on there. I've also spent many pleasant hours at Ish hanging out, drinking coffee, and laying serious buckle rash on some of the most beautiful & expensive musical instruments in the world. (Umm... just joking about the rash.) At Ish, no question is too trivial to be answered, no detail too small to be addressed. In the realm of boutique-size instrument retailers of CNY, thorough attention to the concerns, dreams, and desires of the customer is paramount. With that goal in mind, Ish Guitars seems determined to uphold the standards of such legendary names as 'Onondaga Music' and...of course... the well respected, fondly remembered 'Guitar Outlet.' read more

I heard from people this place was amazing, but I never got inside. I went over today on 11/12 and took a bus to check it out and got there when they were supposed to be open at 11AM, but no one was there. I waited 40 minutes and nothing. There was this nice lady that was opening up the place next door who told this poor kid that was waiting there even before me with his guitar that the owner usually comes later. She said she would contact him so he could get down here to open up. Must be a nice gig to show up whenever you feel like it. Felt bad for the kid waiting, he said he made a special trip to this place and had to get to class. He had a lot more patience than me, I bailed. I left before the guy even got there. I wouldn't personally waste my time on a place who has this kind of work ethic. My advice to people: show up well after 11 AM My advice to the owner: change your shop hours that is displayed on your site, facebook, your website to reflect that you show up whenever you feel like it. read more

Great service and very friendly people! Bass was shipped well and in great shape when it arrived with plenty of padding in the box to protect it. Would buy from them again for sure. read more

Ish has a great selection of guitars and basses. He also carries electric upright basses, cellos, and violins! He has some used vintage gear as well. The store always has something interesting and new. I stop in fairly regularly to see what is new in the shop. I have bought an electric upright and a bass guitar here. The owner is fair and easy to talk to. read more

i was in the area recently and saw this store as i was walking by. i decided to stop in and found out that they just opened a few weeks ago. the store itself is nice and the owner was very nice as well, he was friendly and easy to talk to and you could tell he had a genuine love of what he's doing. they have some higher end guitars and basses that are used for more modern sounds. if you're into really cool vintage gear, this probably isn't the store for you, but it's still worth checking out because you might find something that interests you. read more
