This place is absolutely amazing, regardless of your era. They have a vintage collection from just…read moreabout every gaming and toy era you can imagine, and the place is HUGE. Whatever your nerd heart desires, whether it is comic books, movies, cds, game consoles, action figures, clothing, plush toys, etc etc. This place will scratch your itch. Can't recommend enough.

I've visited this place once or twice a year over the past decade when I am in the area. Comparing…read morethe the many similar type stores around the country, I'll give a few points on this particular place. They have a pretty comprehensive variety in stock both among and between categories of both new and used/vintage (video games, music, movies, collectables, comics and so forth). Each category has its own section of the store. Their prices used to be a bit under the equivalent ebay cost even before shipping (if a game was $20 on ebay + $5 shipping, they would have it as $16), but over the years they caught up to, and are now basically same prices plus or minus a couple dollars even after considering shipping, however they will sometimes offer sales on categories (buy one get one 50% off or buy three get one free) which give them back the pricing advantage. The exception is the rarer stuff, which can be more volatile in price, so sometimes a sought after game can be somewhat over or under priced for example. I've bought dozens of games, comics, consoles from them over the years, all worked, and the one time I had an issue they resolved it ( I bought a complete run of new mutants which noted it had a reprint of 98, but did not note having a reprint of 87, so I was able to return after opening the set and finding this). On the selling side, I rarely sell stuff, but like anywhere, they are designed to make a profit, so if you are looking to sell for cash by definition you are not going to get market value, so I recommend getting store credit, and then waiting for a sale day to buy other stuff you want and you might end up ahead of the market rate on your trade in! The reason its not 5 stars is the place can be a bit cramped, and hard to browse if there are more than a handful of people in the area you are shopping, and they over pack the back issue comics bins such that you can't really flick though the issues, you need to pull them out of the tightly packed bin to see them, and if you want to buy something in a case (understandably most valuable items are locked in cases) it can take a while to get somebody to get it for you to buy.

Even though I always try to support locally owned stores like Music City and Sound Go Round,…read moresometimes they don't have certain things, so I'll go here and they will have a good selection for new and used items, and most of the time the prices are fair, but there is one thing that you HAVE to keep in mind... BEWARE THE STORE CARD OFFER!!!! with every purchase they will try to sell you on this card. yes, there are perks, but in the end it doesn't even out. they give you a month to try it, and this free trial gets you a initial 10% discount, but if you forget to cancel the free trial before the month is up then you lose all of your savings. but still, even if you will remember to cancel, DO NOT SIGN UP FOR THE "FREE" MAGAZINE TRIALS!!! The magazines have been a huge pain in the butt. after the free issues they automatically charge you for the subscription, and then once you find the correct number to call and cancel, they will refund your money, but then tell you that the magazine you selected has an offer to give you a certain amount of issues for just a few dollars, they give you no other options really, so i went along with it. they said that my new issues would be for a year or so and then i'd get an offer to cancel or renew. WRONG! I never got an offer, they automatically charged my account after only a few months, and the prices were absurd, $56 for a year of Sports Illustrated, but the SI website says a year subscription is only $40!! I got the number for the service that subscribed me. I called again, same scheme. They said they'd refund my money but then take out a few bucks and keep sending me the magazine, and of course I can't say no because it's all automated, it's a vicious cycle! As soon as I get my money refunded I am going to call the magazines direct and cancel the subscription. seriously, don't get caught up in the same mess I did.

Anytime I am in the Syracuse area I make an effort to visit The Sound Garden. The Sound Garden is…read morethe place to go for physical media; with their movie selection being the best in the area. It's very rare to be able to shop in person for boutique labels such as vinegar syndrome, arrow, criterion, cinematographe, and A24. The selection is unmatched and I end up spending a good amount of time and money on every visit because you can't get this experience anywhere else. While I love the movie selection in particular they also offer vinyl, books, games, apparel, and more! The staff is always kind and helpful. Love coming here and am happy to support a store that keeps physical media alive. Small parking lot out front and street parking available. I've never had any issues getting a spot

He wanted to stop in for his 40th birthday since we're back in the area for long weekend . Parking was easy ... and was able to explore a great vintage record collection. Movies galore; or maybe he did more . I jumped at the bookes they had a little of everything.. I did take the time to check prices on books I know use my kindle ; the few books I looked at the prices were about 20 or more dollars here as opposed to Amazon ...yikes . ....there the books stayed .the store is cool to look at and has got a great vibe so I might go back but I didn't purchase anything.
