My buddy and coworker recommended we go to Pollos Asados El Norteño off South FM 1660 in Hutto. Good idea. Located in a strip mall connected to a Valero gas station, there were a few people inside. We placed our order, with me ordering their Caldo de Pollo. It included two chicken drumsticks, potatoes, cobbled corn, carrots, celery, and squash. It was served with a lime slice and diced cilantro, onions, and green peppers. In addition, you get a ton of corn tortillas on the side and a nice side of rice. For its price tag, it is a steal. It was fantastic and perfectly hit the spot when it was 30 degrees outside. There is plenty of seating, and they move pretty efficiently. I heard their main tacos as well as their breakfast were very good, so once I can eat normal food, I will definitely come back and give it another go. For now, that soup was exactly what I needed. Food isn't waiting around here....it was a small wait but everything was extraordinarily fresh. They have a cold case full of soft drinks and juices. There was a small container of orange/red sauce and what looks like a avocado Ish sauce. I labeled them both hot and hotter. (LOL-I guess I'm a gringo after all ) I dropped in, in between meal times, but there was definitely a steady amount of customers coming and going as they must do quite a brisk business of takeout also. I noted that you can order online so that's always a big positive for me. People were eating and it's not a huge place so I wasn't comfortable videoing the seating ....needless to say there's about 10 /four tops. I was quite comfortable. You step up to the counter to order. I requested no cilantro and I did not get any. It seems to be good communication between the front desk and the kitchen. I suspect either the sous chef or the cook delivered my plate piping hot to my table! I'm not sure how long this location has been open here, but I'm embarrassed to say that I have driven by many many times on the way to my sons home and not noticed it. I'm so glad I dropped in today and found it. I definitely recommend it and I will be back every time I head out to my sons

Living in Hutto for over six months now, I had realized that I had yet to truly find a taco joint…read morelike I had found in Lubbock or Tyler, some of my previous home bases in Texas. In my research, the food truck Taqueria Jaguar's seemed like a possible contender. I want to first address my own limitations in this review. I am a white man. I am an outsider being welcomed in by eating this food. I am not a subject expert. I am usually knowledgeable on what I do and don't like, however, and can destroy any plate in any cuisine class. I had been craving some birria recently, so I ordered a set of their birria tacos and then an order of plantains to go with it. The service was pretty efficient, and it wasn't long before the food came out hot. The plantains were fantastic. There was so much that I couldn't finish them myself, but they tasted pretty amazing. I recently discovered how fantastic plantains were, and Taqueria Jaguar's fried plantains were top notch. I highly recommend them. When it came to the birria, however, I was left disappointed. I fear maybe it was the experimental nature of my order instead of going for some al pastor tacos, but I felt the meat was not great. It was cooked well, but it had no flavor. I could best compare it to when my grandma made me chili and told me it was amazing, when I had to put so much cheese on it to hide its lack of flavor. I don't know if it was from the goat meat versus your typical beef you'd get elsewhere on the menu, but I was shockingly disappointed in how weak they were. I didn't finish them, sadly. I hope to return and give Taqueria Jaguar's a second chance. If people praise this food truck like they do, I think I might just be wrong. Until then, it is not my trusted taco joint. On to the next one.

We had beef fajita (chewier), pastor (tender) but lacked flavor, and chicken fajita which was fine. We got a quesadilla (photo with campechana. I didn't enjoy the taste. It was a corn flavor unlike the normal one. We also got the birria tacos and consume. It was the not flavorful and the consume was pale and watery (I know it's not supposed to be thick). Maybe it was an off day. Their chips were fried fresh (flour I think) and they gave us a lot of little salsa containers. We couldn't dip them (you had to pour). The green was good and spicy but I didn't like the red one. I'm glad we tried this place.

The decor is great, a GLAM hallway to the bathrooms. Enjoyed my food and others in my group liked the food too. One thing they need to improve is the service. We had a very nice server, but it seemed like her and one other server were doing all the work while 4 or 5 other employees wandered around or lounged at the hostess desk. We did have a large group, but the food all came out at wildly different times. One person in our group waited 20 minutes AFTER the first person was served, for his entree to arrive. I'd understand more if they were just short staffed, but with that many people working, they should find a way to help each other and make the customer experience better. Trying to pay our split checks was another hurdle. Our server got pulled away after a couple of us paid, and when I went to the hostess stand - where two employees were standing, to request the rest of our bills - they acted like it was impossible for them to assist and decided to try and grab our very busy server! If management can sort out better delegation of duties and ways for everyone to pull together, this place will be awesome!

We were six people for dinner and we all ordered different plates plus some queso with chorizo as an appetizer. For a company of six I found it weird that the queso only can e with three tortillas. We asked for more and got those quickly. When the main courses came we were all disappointed. The food was not bad but very bland. No flavor to anything at all. I am aware that not all Mexican food is spicy but usually it has a lot of flavors and nothing like we were served. I doubt I will go back there ever.

Taco Casa in Hutto just ruined Taco Bell for me forever…read more I stopped in today and ordered a Chirito and a Super Tostada, and wow -- the Chirito was absolutely massive. Packed full, loaded with flavor, perfectly seasoned, and honestly so good I couldn't even finish the tostada afterward. I took the Super Tostada to my sister, and her exact words were "this is divine." My son ordered FOUR Super Tacos because apparently he's training for a competitive taco-eating league, and every single one came out crispy, fresh, and HUGE -- easily 50% bigger than the Taco Bell versions. They don't skimp here. The tacos were stuffed full, the lettuce and tomatoes tasted fresh, and they use tons of real cheese instead of that sad sprinkle most fast food places give you. What Taco Casa does so well is take those nostalgic old-school Taco Bell style recipes and somehow make them bigger, fresher, cheesier, and way more satisfying. Fast service, great portions, fresh ingredients, and comfort-food taco perfection. This is officially my new fast-food taco spot for sure.

They have a very simple interior and menu, and we ordered a few items. The super Tostada, super taco, soft taco and their cinnamon sugar delights. Everything was LOADED. If you ever imagined eating food that looks directly out of a commercial, this place is it. The tacos were bursting at the seams. The Tostada required 2 hands. And it actually all tasted delicious. Like legit good. Our favorite was probably the soft taco flavor wise. It cost less than the super taco and had way more meat. A signature of this place seems to be topping with a ton of cheese, and none of us complained. Their hot sauce is really good too. We wrapped it up with their dessert item, and they were absolutely amazing. Freshly fried chips coated in cinnamon and sugar. Everything was fresh made and tasted like it. If youre looking for a Taco Bell equivalent but better in every way, this place is it. We were super surprised by how good it was.

When I'm working, I try to eat quickly. I left Dripping Springs; made my way to Hutto via the toll…read moreroad. Dropped off the supplies needed and headed south on the same route. Food needed; next stop lunch. I saw this Taco Palenque going north and since it was a quick off and on I chose it as my stop. No counter service which is OK with me. I ordered the most EXPENSIVE plate of food on the menu and a drink. $23. Grab some chips, salsas, and my drink. Snacking while my food is prepared. Another persons order comes out. They can't find him at the same table they just served food to. Can't read numbers on the tents? My food comes to the table and I say thanks. I try to eat fast folks as I was due in Buda for a truck thing. One Enchilada, Crispy Taco, Beef Fajita, Guacamole, Rice and Beans. Except after I started eating I realized no guac. I walked to the counter and ask for my missing item. Well, I finished my plate and it never showed up. I walk back towards the counter with my plate ready to go into the trash. They see my sad face and another employee asks what's wrong. Shocked that there was any language barrier; I mean Guacamole. She then asked me what my ticket # was. No clue; selected no receipt when I ordered. Recap, not that hard to serve this cuisine on one plate. Food is NOT worth nearly double what Taco Cabana charges for basically the same plate. Plus, if you don't get what you ordered and you don't have an extra 30 for a refund talk you're SOL.

Haven't been to restaurant so my review is solely for delivery to my house…read more Ordering- I like that their sides are not overpriced. Some places turn me off with $12 guacamole 'salad' that I know will be mostly lettuce. Also easy to tack on salsa options to your entree order. Food: tasty. First delivery was yummier than second time. I like that they put rice and beans in little containers inside main container. Beans don't get all dried out and thick. Rice is good. I also like that they send the chips warm and inside a plastic bag inside the paper one. What I don't eat can be sealed up and stays fresher longer. Both times I did crispy tacos as I am a creature of habit. Amazing? No. But exactly as I expected and what I was craving. I have made a study of the nearby places that offer crispy tacos (I know where to go for queso and damn good tacos that are soft). Many places charge $$$ for their sides of guac and when I get order - the rice is meh and the beans seem thick and dry. Like sitting under a heat lamp or on the stove for too long. Thus far, Taco Palenque sides seem fresher. Happy to have a new option nearby when craving my fix.
