Turkey salad is great. So is the pulled pork sandwich. Pinto Beans side is yummy. Green beans are kinda spicy which it didn't say and I got them for my kids which they couldn't eat...just FYI. If you're getting it to go make sure you have everything from your order because the last two times I've picked up food they were missing multiple things from my order. Ok. This is an example of Yelp completely failing me. Brisket was about 50% fat. Sauce was WAY too sweet, and the alternative sauces were all empty. "Creamed corn" was disgusting. All other employees are super sweet and polite. This is what I normally purchase, but he won't allow me to purchase this any longer (mix my meat). Awesome food. The fatty brisket is some of the best I've had. 4 of us got out for about $60 which was great for what we got. My only problem was with the wise ass girl working the counter giving my mom lip because she wanted to use the offer for the free cobbler on yelp. The manager made it right and gave us a free mac and cheese because I think he over heard her, but my mother in law walked away a little hurt because the girl made her feel less than for wanting to get a free cobbler. Weak move. I'd re-think that hire especially for people ordering 4 plates with beers and two desserts. read more

Not only did HEB help me convince my man that grocery shopping isn't all that bad, he shopped with a big ol' grin on his face. The meats are indescribably delicious. The BBQ sauces are out of this world (our favorite being the tangy vinegar blend with the sweet BBQ at a close second) and the potato salad is like being back at mom's house for the summer family picnic! The smoke, the savor, and the flavor is truly unbeatable. I thought I liked BBQ before... I am in love with BBQ now!! TRUE TEXAS BBQ well deserves its name. I have had many many texas BBQ experiences. This is literally a local grocery store chain, this I was skeptical. Being immobile and seeing good reviews I gave it a run. I am glad I did. The brisket was outstanding and lean. The roasted chicken was a knock out. Portions were giant for the price. The sauce was spot on. Not watery. Not too spicy. Add cold beer on tap and I am not kidding this may be the best BBQ I have had in ten years. The only downside I saw was the mac and cheese. Very pasty. read more

It was good i had the chopped beef sandwich it was good not the best I've ever had, it had a lot of meat on it. My kids had the ribs and baked potatoes I didn't try the ribs but they did not care for them that much. They looked good but we're really greasy with a good bit of fat. Not bad, all things considered. Great selection of Texas beer on tap and they even do growler fills. I have had the lean and fatty brisket. Both come wrapped in butcher paper, which has been completely soaked in grease both times I've eaten there. Meat is tender and relatively flavorful. I suspect that the brisket spends most of the time in the oven, as it doesn't have a decent smoke ring. I could be wrong. The sides are ok. I have had the green beans, brisket beans and the creamed corn. Best I can say is, meh. The atmosphere is good and they have some good BBQ sauces. They give you a lot of bread but it is HCF and was stale the last time I went. The HEB that this is place is housed in is one of the nicest I've been to. All in all, not bad. Great food! I was surprised it was just a spot in the local grocery store chain. I had the 3 meat plate with chicken, sausage, fatty brisket, mac'n cheese and green beans. You can't go wrong with fatty brisket, it was delicious! The sausage was also great. The chicken was ok, I didn't care for their particular rub. The mac'n cheese was really good! It wasn't too thick like some places make it and with whiter type cheeses, which I really like. I was unsure about the green beans b/c they looked canned but I don't think they were. I can tell you this, they were not cooked to mush despite their color, they were firmer than I expected and cooked with tomatoes and black pepper. Not overly so in the pepper but I could distinctly taste it - I liked them a lot. I took advantage of the free dessert for checking in with Yelp. I had the cobbler, it was OK. Other people my party got the pumpkin spice (limited time) pudding which I didn't even notice they had. I really liked that I wish I had gotten that! They had three choices of barbecue sauce Kansas City, Carolina, and Texas. Kansas City is the sweet type and I liked that the best. If you don't already know barbecue sauces Carolina is a vinegar-based kind of sauce, and the Texas was a tangy-er type of sauce. Overall I really enjoyed my meal. I would've given them five stars but the girl that rang us up really either needs additional training, or maturity or something. She just was indifferent. Actually little bit more than indifferent she just didn't care and she was kind of borderline rude. They were having an issue with their soda and water machine that day but it didn't really interfere with our meal. When I'm here visiting again I'll be back whether it's this location or another. read more

True Texas BBQ is a very pleasant surprise: a legit BBQ place hiding out in the local HEB supermarket. After reading some of the reviews on Yelp, we stopped there for lunch while driving through Midland. My husband has tried BBQ in many places across Texas and the south. The smoked brisket and ribs at True Texas BBQ met his standards for good BBQ. The brisket was tender and the ribs were flavorful. I had the Cuban, with tender pulled pork piled on a sturdy ciabatta hoagie. The ham slice was firm and fresh. Great combination, especially with the vinegar-based sauce that I chose from the 3 different sauce options. My side of coleslaw was good - not too creamy and well seasoned. Both of our order portions were very generous. True Texas BBQ is in the top 10 - 15% of BBQ places. We will be back the next time we're in Midland. read more

This place is inside the new HEB, I must say this is the best BBQ I've had in midland so far. The meat is not dry and is tasty. The creamed corn was comparable to the one at Rudy's. Visited my home state of Texas from New Mexico for a temporary job and was anxious for some long missed (real) BBQ. I was disappointed that I didn't find a mom n pop kinda BBQ place in Midland (probably just didn't search hard enough), but I didn't have much time for lunch so this fit the bill. This place met my expectations just fine. Had the sliced brisket sandwich, then came back the next day for some pulled pork! They have 3 different BBQ sauces, all of them good and I think each would pair nicely with a different meat. This is the best BBQ in town. The only issue I have ever had is getting a receipt for the meal using the app. It's best to just go there and order what you want. I even order the largest party pack and not had any problem getting it filled completely and timely. The staff is awesome. I definitely recommend it. read more
