The chopped brisket sandwich is a must try and full of smoky flavor. Service was friendly and the outdoor seating made the whole experience even better. Definitely a great spot in Fort Worth for barbecue and live music. The chips that came with the sandwich are delicious!

If you're in the mood for great service from a friendly staff, and really, really crappy (but…read moreexpensive) food, I recommend checking out Woodshed Smokehouse. My wife and I just had lunch there today. I decided to try the chicken fried steak, smoked jalapeño gravy, pickled chiles, au gratin potatoes and my wife had the brisket stuffed piquillo peppers, bone broth, cotija. First, the $21 chicken fried steak: It was SEVERELY OVERCOOKED or had been under a heat lamp since Bush was President. (No, not THAT Bush, his dad.) The meat was a rock and the breaded crust was hard, shattering when I cut into it, revealing even more disappointment within. The au gratin potatoes had a vague, disconcerting coffee aftertaste I wasn't expecting (and HATED). A golf course restaurant (Raven's Grille) in Euless has a FAR superior chicken fried steak at a MUCH lower price. I can't believe Woodshed Smokehouse is owned by a chef. Seriously. My wife's lunch was three tiny pieces of brisket (again, severely overcooked) wrapped in piquillo peppers. Although relatively inexpensive at $12, it wasn't even worth that. A "smokehouse" that doesn't seem to understand cooking meat. Odd... and not very Texan at all.

I do the responsible thing and CALL AHEAD like a civilized human being. "Do y'all have prime rib?" I ask. "Yes," they say--with confidence. With conviction. With what I can only assume was zero verification. So I drive my hungry, hopeful self all the way there, already tasting that juicy, perfect bite in my mind... only to be told: "Oops, no they told you wrong, we dont have prime rib " Oops? That's not a minor inconvenience. That's betrayal. That's psychological damage. That's me sitting there questioning my life choices while staring at a menu I no longer trust. No apology worth mentioning, no effort to make it right--just vibes and disappointment. If you're going to crush someone's dinner dreams, at least have the decency to do it over the phone so I can cry in my car at home instead of your parking lot. 10/10 for building anticipation. 0/10 for delivering anything resembling prime rib. Would I come back? Only if I'm emotionally stronger.

Driving around Texas eating BBQ on the Texas Monthly Top 50 list…read more Arrived at Dayne's Craft Barbecue early on a Friday as husband and I wanted to eat a couple of the kolaches and then wait for the BBQ. The kolaches are fresh, delicious and some of the best we have ever eaten. They have a nice large parking area. You walk inside are greeted by a smiling employee. We ordered, ate and talked to several people that work and run this great Barbecue place. While waiting to order BBQ one of the employees was walking around giving out a few free breakfast tacos! Wow, what a treat. When we finally ordered our food we got food to eat there and food to bring back home. Let me just say that is the sign of great BBQ if it's good on site to eat and good when you warm it up at home. Dayne's BBQ was and is some of the best we have had yet. We had the Trinity platter, the bacon brisket, broccoli grape salad and flamin hot street corn. The Trinity came with moist smoke ring brisket along with pork ribs and JALAPENO HAVARTI sausage. I highly recommend you make the drive to Dayne's Craft Barbecue

Overall, I cannot rank it high enough. 5 out of 5 easy!!!

Suffice to say, it left a lasting impression on me, because here I am, almost a decade later. The atmosphere is everything a Texas BBQ joint should be, and having folks enter from the pit area was a stroke of genius. It really sets the expectation & mood. There's "decent" BBQ places here in Ohio, but there's no question Texas does it best, and Hard 8 is a true standout! (LOVE those charros!) This will be the 1st place I stop to eat if ever again I'm in the area. Honorable mention to Tyler's BBQ up in Amarillo if anyone gets out that way.
