We've eaten at this restaurant countless times, since they first opened, and the food is consistently good. We've also taken out-of-town guests; all raved about Railhead and wanted to go back on future visits. We ordered takeout recently and the online menu showed the price of the chopped beef Sunday special as $10. When my husband got home with our order and I looked at the receipt, I saw we were charged $13. I got back online and noticed that there were actually two prices on the menu. I assumed the $13 was the normal price, $10 was the special. I sent a polite message later using the contact link on their page, asking about the prices. I wasn't upset at all, I was just wanting to know for future reference. $13 is a fair price, as the serving is always generous. Tim from Railhead emailed me. He verified the special is $13. He then lectured me on how other places charge more, the price of everything has gone up, they have prices listed in many places at the restaurant that we should have seen (except I was looking online to order, but ok), etc. It also seemed he didn't believe me that $10 was on the menu I saw, so I replied thanking him for quickly responding, and with a screenshot of the menu prices .... said I was just asking so I'd know in the future. He never responded back, but did remove the $10 from the online menu. Anyway, the sandwich plate was very good that day. My partner had it with okra and beans. I had the small Cowboy bowl and it tasted wonderful, but I wish the corn muffin hadn't been put on top of it in the container. Most of it was too soggy to eat. (Their cornbread is usually so good, love it.) We also split the loaded fries and I highly recommend them - excellent and a huge portion. I like that their fries are homemade, not frozen. Our 3-person family caught a quick supper while on our way to another activity. We've enjoyed Railhead BBQ for many yrs. I believe, hands down, it's the best BBQ in the DFW area. We were seated quickly & were served by Jordan, a very friendly & attentive waitress. She took our order & served our BBQ plates very quickly. We especially appreciated how often she refilled our drinks & kept checking on us frequently. The BBQ plates were on special & very reasonably priced. The only glitch was when my husband's mac & cheese side dish was served luke-warm. But this was quickly rectified. We stopped in just for an appetizer and it did not disappoint. We ordered a large size of the Loaded Fries and added brisket to it. It was enormous. Our server, Ella, was very friendly, checked on us often, and warned us that the large was a 40oz platter of fries (just two adults and a toddler, so the concern was valid). For $20 it was a very generous portion. And the brisket was an extra $9 and definitely the way to go. Typical rustic BBQ house inside. Service was good. The Beer was VERY cold to the point it had ice floating in the frozen mug! The baked potato was old and barely warm. The chopped brisket the served with the potato, was very finely chopped and was terribly dry. Needed lots of sauce to make it edible. The Fish tacos were tasty but placed on a cold tortilla and the fish itself was barely warm. The cowboy bean bowl was just ok and again, barely warm with chunks of dry brisket on it that needed sauce to help it along. I also tried the smoked jalapeño margarita and while the heat was there, the mix they use was some kind of cheap, watered down, bottom shelf junk. One of my local spots! Great food and service and close to my home so that's a plus! Love the ice-cold beer in the schooners and the fact that the wait staff is courteous, fast & friendly. We stopped in here on a whim after another local barbecue place was sold out of most of their items. Wasn't sure that we could expect much since the reviews here were not great, but we really enjoyed our trip. The prices were reasonable. The portions were huge. We really enjoyed being able to sit down at a table and order and be waited on. The turkey, okra and the coleslaw was my favorite out of my platter. This ribs and potato salad were his. My fiance stopped here to try out some of the barbecue to go. I believe they may have a drive-through if you want to pick it up that way, but he ordered over the phone and picked it up from inside. In short, I think some of the food left a lot to be desired. I do think that the beef sandwiches and fries were decent, cooked well, and seasoned. But the other items weren't as seasoned as I would have hoped. It seems it is a great spot for good service and good vibes, which is always needed from a community perspective, but I may try other spots in the area from a food perspective. It's been years since I've been back to give them a second chance. Epic fail a second time. Ordered the special and waited an hour for the food. Ok, you're busy. An hour later, we were told they were out of the special - even though the order was placed before they ran out. So my order wasn't even looked at for an hour after it was placed? Do you know what customer service is? I knew you weren't worth a second visit but now I've confirmed it. Last time (several years ago now), the waitress added more money to the tip on top of the 20% I already left. I took my credit card bill to the management to have the charge removed. Stopped in to get lunch to go. I've lived in the area for almost 7 years and never stopped in. The cashier suggests the special. Half chicken with 2 sides and drink. I also wanted 1/4 pound of sliced beef. That half a chicken was so juicy and seasoned well. The sides are typical canned fast food sides. That brisket was heartbreaking. It was close to jerky. First time here while visiting family. After reading some of the reviews, I was expecting dirty tables and horrible food. One thing I have held to though is that if the first responders(fire/police/medics) eat at a restaurant, then it is probably good food. This hold true as there were multiple first responders here as we arrived. I ordered the sliced beef sandwich with potato salad and onion rings. All of it was good. I appreciate that the potato salad wasn't saturated with mayonnaise. The beef was nicely smoked and had great flavor and had a perfect amount of sauce to the beef. We went here tonight for dinner. We got there about 7:30. There were nine of us. They told us they couldn't seat as we were standing beside an empty table with nine chairs. We were leaving and they called us back and seated us at that table. Our orders were taken quickly and the food came really fast. I had a bologna sandwich with fries and Coleslaw. This is a great place and location. Live music and some the best staff around who are cheerful and helpful. Ice cold mugs for your beer and good ambiance. Until today I have regularly visited your restaurant weekly sometimes 2x or 3x to get my usual order. Today I ordered and it was business as normal until I get home. My brisket tacos are not in the bag which is fine I get people make mistakes. It's the inaction your staff took and essentially called me a liar saying the tacos were in the bag. I have no reason to lie. As a valued customer it was a slap in the face and I will never spend a penny in your restaurant again unless those who made me feel Less as a customer are held accountable. The nonchalant attitude that your manager I dealt with was appalling. The mediocre were sorry as I asked for a refund instead of having to wait for the food I paid for. And I did make the comment yea you sure are sorry because they are! If this is the type of business you're going to run you will not survive the growth of Parker county. the new dean ranch shops will have restaurants who value their patrons. Delicious sweet tea....of course! This is a yummy BBQ place, with a drive thru. They also have at least one big room to rent out for wedding receptions or ceremonies. While enjoying lunch there, we noticed a wedding reception going on. The ladies were going back and forth from the bar, so they were having a great time. Service was exceptional and I cant wait to stop in again if we ever make out to Weatherford area again. The place was clean and not very crowded when we arrived. There is a large outside area with tables and possibly a small stage for live music. There were outside game to play also. Lots of kids were running around with a group that was outside. I love the cheddar jalapeño sausage, but the last few times we've been there the food comes out Luke warm and the chicken was a bit overcooked and dry.
