This was my first experience at this studio, and with hot yoga, and it was the staff and experience were so impressive, I will absolutely be returning! I came in at the suggestion of a friend who has taken the class before. There is a really affordable intro pass for new members. Setting up the pass and scheduling an appointment took maybe 5 minutes; it was so easy! The studio is located in a strip mall with tons of parking. The instructor for the day was so kind and walked me through everything I could expect, as this was my first time. She was even so kind as to lend me a matt, as I didn't own one. The class was HARD and wow it was hot, but because I was new, the instructor had me set up in an area that would get a little more air flow. She was so encouraging and I felt so refreshed after. The class is what you make it- if you really want to push yourself, you can, if you want to take it easy and take breaks, you can do that too and are encouraged to do so! Everyone was so kind and the instructor checked in with my after to see how I was and recommended some basic aftercare should I have any difficulties after the class. I've been going to this yoga studio for years. My favorite instructor is Marta !!! she is very energetic each classes I feel more motivated when I attend her classes than other instructors class. Some of other instructors are not energetic ( Sounds tired ) and Room is barely warm.I really likes Marta's classes and room temperature is great ! Too crowded, the yoga instructors are good, everyone there is warm and welcoming, and you feel right at home as soon as you walk in. But sadly the studio is too small over all. I wish there was a bigger location for this establishment, or maybe just offer more classes especially on Fridays when it's super busy. I'm giving it a 3, the last time I was there there the class was so full it felt like a literal sardines can in there it was not a good experience trying to find peace at place where I could smell my yoga mates breath because we were too close together. But the staff still kept letting people in. I shoulda walked out but sadly I didn't now I'm writing this review. There's not a lot of yoga studios around this area I just wish there was more yoga instructors out there willing enough to open up yoga studios. read more

Me and my friend came here for the first time and we were excited to try it out. The instructor, Sarah Bird was up front with the paperwork for us to sign and was aware we were new. She explained it's just like regular yoga classes but hot. The class itself was a challenge but that's what I expected. I took breaks as needed by laying down on the mat or being in child's pose as others did as well. Towards the end I started feeling unwell and laid down for another 10 mins. After the instructor advised the class had 15 minutes left my friend and I quietly rolled up our mats and were mindful not to interrupt anything as we were both feeling unwell. My review is not due to the challenging class, but rather to how the instructor acted with my friend and I. We were in the lobby putting on our shoes and getting our things together when the instructor came out and reprimanded us for leaving and said she forgot to let us know when we showed up at what points you could leave and advised us that we are only to leave at the end of class or during Shavasana and that we should lay down until the end of class. We sat directly in front of the instructor and we laid down several times and tried to stick it out. Her approach was unprofessional and we both left feeling down. If you did not explain the appropriate times to leave to the new people, then do not attempt to reprimand them. Additionally, if someone is feeling unwell and continues to feel unwell after laying down, you cannot tell them that they cannot leave. I'll be sharing my experience via social media as well. I have been going to True Hot for over a year. Back in November 2019 as I was walking in for a class I was approached by one of the front counter ladies and she suggested that I set up on the 3 months for $100 a month. I though that sounded like a great deal. I verbally agreed and went into class. I didn't sign anything and no one explained to me outside of the three months that I would have to cancel. Recently I noticed on my credit card statement that I had been charged for 5 months so I called in to have them reverse the charges for the other two months. Patty answered. I explained the situation to her and she became extremely aggressive towards me right away. She told me she would "NOT be refunding any of my money" and hung up on me. I called back a couple of times and she didn't answer...so I called back again. She finally answered and was complete rude, again. She said she had deleted my account and again told me she would "Not be refunding any of my money". I told her that because of her- I would never come back as a customer. She then said and I quote, "Then screw you and I don't give a sh!t" Then hung up on me again. Wow! I have always enjoyed going to their studio and have had very good communication with most of their staff. I am not sure who Patty is but I hope she doesn't treat anyone else this way. The staff is friendly from what I have experienced. However, there is definitely a lack of communication. If you call in need of something, no one will call you back. If you email the owner, she does not respond. I ended up having to take time out of work to drive down there and actually talk to someone in person. First time was to cancel and the second was to get a refund. I would not recommend this place, again solely for the lack of communication. It is obsolete by phone and e-mail. read more

It was my second time here and doing hot yoga in general. I took a class with Emily. She was not helpful and had a very rude manner to her. I asked if she had any water bottles since I forgot mine in my car and responded rude and redirected me to the water fountain. I decided to go to my car to get my water bottle and as I'm coming into the room with a smile she just has a bland look to her face and says "did you go outside and lock the door" as if I was a kid. I was very lightheaded with the heat so I decided to leave 15 mins early and walked over very quietly as everyone was laying and I smiled to her and said "thank you" and nothing, she was just dismissive and proceeded to walk around class. We are all paying, and a lot, to take these classes so the instructors should be kind and helpful. However I did take my first class with Sarah and she was wonderful and so helpful! They did not honor the 15 class pass I purchased on Groupon. I had neurotically looked over the deal before purchasing, and it had said valid for clients not active in the last 6 months. I went to redeem it today & the rules had changed to 12 months, so my pass was invalid since I'd taken a class there 10 months ago. But I was allowed to put that $45 towards two classes. Ugh, no thank you. I called Groupon and they confirmed that the rules had been edited AFTER I'd purchased it, which they agreed was against their policy and issued me a full refund. Sumits KILLS!!! ...but in a good way, hot yoga can be intense but its good for you! Sumits' yoga style is very similar to that of Bikram's Yoga, but much faster and a few postures in the set are different. Otherwise, you get the same benefits and you sweat all of those gnarly toxins out! Get in shape, feel balanced, get to stare at yourself in a mirror with no shame, and sweat like a dog for 90-mins! And if you don't come out feeling brand spanking new, then I think you slacked off in class! Make sure you go to the website or talk to someone who has already faced the experience that is Sumits Yoga before you hop right into it, there's a lot of things that you should do in preparation! Seriously, I went in here hungover once, thinking I'd be fine...oh lordts no! Plus its really nice in here, and spacious. And please people shower before you go home (its a clean one!), I don't know how you could go home without doing so, that's a really gross drive and I'd never ride in your car. The prices can be kinda harsh, only if you plan on committing to a long class package, but there are discounts and specials ran all the time, currently I think you can sign up for 30 days for free. read more

I went here for a Saturday 8:00 class. Loved it! It was my first time doing Hot Yoga. I tried Yoga once at LA Fitness but that doesn't really count... I was cheerfully welcomed and immediately felt comfortable. I was shown around and explained what to expect by Patty and Emily. The studio was clean, modern, and spa like. The actual class was amazing! I work out 5 days a week and I have a pretty good routine. I lift 3x a week and run 3-4 miles 2x a week. This Hot Yoga session was tough! I was sweating more during the class than with my 4 mile runs! It seems like it is going to be a great addition to my routine and I'm very excited to make it a part of my life! I've been to several hot yoga studios in the Phoenix metro area and this is by far my favorite. They keep the facility clean between classes. The instructors are always very friendly and know how to push you to your limit. They are super mindful of first timers and don't shame you if you need to lay down for a few minutes during the class. Don't go during the morning!! Morning staff is incredibly rude. I left during the ab session (which I've been told was ok by other instructors many times). The instructor gave me an incredibly dirty look. Then the front desk girl lectured me on saying that "you cannot leave at anytime you want. Instructor so-and-so is very particular." I told the receptionist that final exam week, so had to go. She said "Well, this is a 120 minute class and you need permission to leave." What the actual F-ck? As someone who's been faithful to True Hot, I was very disappointed by their poor service. However, their evening instructors are awesome. Krissy and Beth are some of my favorites. This is really, really hot yoga. The pros: traditional hot yoga, nice studio, nice instructors, nice people, not overcrowded. The cons: the hottest hot yoga I've ever done...sometimes I wish it was a tad cooler, some of the instructors only play music during the 4 flows- makes the room kinda quiet and maybe a little boring, the instructors aren't hands on with adjustments. I have taken two classes here and they were both PACKED. Literally three rows of people in the studio and some people (myself included) couldn't fully extend without either squishing myself into the mirror or hitting the person next to me. I am hoping some of the other time slots will be less crowded, as I still have 13 more classes here. Overall, it's okay. It feels much hotter in this studio than others I have been to, but I think it's because it is SO crowded. There's just more body heat. Also, the receptionist was less than welcoming. Both times I came in. At our first visit, she chased down my friend and scolded her for not signing in. REALLY?? It was her first time, she didn't know the protocol. The place is clean and doesn't smell too weird, but the "locker room" is really just a onesie bathroom with one toilet and a tiny shower and one sink. Not very practical when the class has at least 30 people in it (most of them women who rush to the bathroom to use the shower afterwards). The two instructors that I have had are okay... one was better than the other. One girl's music was all over the place, and would abruptly shift or cut off at weird moments. It was really distracting, and also super LOUD. I couldn't hear what she was even saying. I like my studio closer to home way better and once this Groupon is up, I probably won't be returning. read more

Holy HOT, Batman! 105 degrees with a billion percent humidity! Seriously, thought I was going to pass out during my first class. My second class was much better. I only had to sit out one sequence, and that was at the Instructors suggestion for "new people". I used the 2 weeks for $20 promotion, then will apply my Groupon when that's over. I plan on being a "hot" yogi (get it?!), for a long time! The studio is clean and doesn't have that funky rotten moldy, cheesy toe-jam smell that I've experienced in a local Bikram studio. The instructors are clearly experienced. They each do slightly different variations in sequencing, but I like that it's not exactly the same each time. The music is good, but can be kind of loud, especially when I'm trying to hear the Instructors directions. I wouldn't say this is the best place for people who've never taken yoga, as the instructors don't demonstrate each pose, but you can watch your classmates for prompts if needed. About 2 years ago a girlfriend took me with her to class. Two years later I'm still going and it has changed my life. As a collegiate golfer I had practiced yoga in a number of different settings. Nothing could have prepared me for what I have experienced at Sumits. Whether you are an advanced yogi or it's your first class the teachers at Sumits are welcoming and ready to guide you. I went from a student who could barely finish a class to a seasoned yogi that looks forward to practice each day. The room studio is HOT and takes some getting used to. But once your body becomes accustomed it's an opening and detoxifying experience. The well orchestrated classes are the same each time and help build strength, flexibility, and balance. The practice is as much about mental healing though as it is physical. It's the one time of day when you can truly let go of everything in the outside world and focus on yourself. I'm of the opinion that this type of yoga should be a part of anyone's routine who is looking for a well balanced body and mind. This was a very challenging class.....I loved everything about the studio, but my fav part was how every instructore did it a little differently, which was good, one thing I kind of missed in traditional bikram. I was looking to try out new forms of hot yoga and while visiting Phoenix I came across Sumits. I was a little hesitant of the music aspect at first, but after my second class in Arrowhead with Kay, I can now say I am a fan. The class was really well put together and Kay is a fabulous instructor. Her energy was perfect, not over the top but very motivating. Her class pushed me and kept me moving. I wish I could have stayed in the area longer to keep taking more classes. Not only was the class great, but Terri who works in the front office is Fan-Tastic. She answered all of my question, she was incredibly welcoming and great to talk to. She really is the reason I took the first class and also why I came back. Her personality is a definite plus for the studio. Very happy that I found and tried Sumits. I found true hot yoga on groupon (great deal!) and was excited to try it. My sister and I went to the Saturday morning class and Kay was teaching. The class was very full. The 80 min long class was incredible. There was all fitness levels there practicing, the music was appropriate, and the sweat was just pouring out of everyone! There is not a lot of tolerance for talking in class so if you go with a friend you'll have to be super quiet or save it for afterwards. The studio was nice and I can't wait to use the rest of my classes. read more

I had never done yoga before and this was a nice experience. Holy moley did I sweat A TON!!!! They made me feel very welcome and I didn't feel like a total idiot when I didn't know what the heck they were doing! Haha. The music was VERY soothing and with time, I think I could come to enjoy hot yoga. It was rough for a first-timer and I suggest that you take an intro class before the main hot class. That way, you have more knowledge of what the flow is like and how to be doing things correctly. In all, I am not going back until I get a better paying job-WAYYYYYY pricey for me! read more

I have done hot yoga off and on for the past few years and I was excited to try out True Hot Yoga after purchasing the Groupon deal. Classes were HOT and definitely made me work up a huge sweat. The instructors weren't really consistent with opening the doors to let some air in. Some opened doors periodically, especially if there were people struggling. One instructor in particular only opened the door about 2-3 times for the entire 80 minutes. Now, that may seem like a lot but that class was PACKED and I probably lost half my weight in water in that ONE class in the first 15 minutes. I think I sweated all over myself, my mat, the mirror, and my neighbors. My bad. O___O Also, I have always been adjusted in almost every class at every studio that I have been to. I was only adjusted twice in all my classes in the same position. I understand that some yogis probably don't like this, but I want to make sure that I'm doing the pose right, or that I can improve upon it in some way. Not being adjusted was weird for the most part. Additionally, I saw new students in several of my classes who clearly had never done yoga before and I don't recall them getting too much instruction. I know I would want some attention if I was new so I don't hurt myself. Overall, True Hot Yoga was pleasant, but I'm not dying to go back any time soon. PS. I've experienced hot yoga at other studios, but True Hot Yoga has become my regular studio. I can only speak for the Arrowhead/Glendale studio, as I haven't visited their Scottsdale location. Hot yoga is tricky: does the room get hot enough (105º)? humid enough (around 40%)? Yoga can by tricky: does the studio's sequence of poses challenge me? is the instructor enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and supportive? Heck, do the classes start on time? The answer to all of the above is yes, and I try to attend at least four times per week. I often walk out spent, yet invigorated. I always walk out more serene than when I walked in. The primary reason for my satisfaction is one of their instructors, Kay Vergamini. Kay does more than teach; she inspires. She is always upbeat, and has the unique ability to make me feel like I'm at my first day of yoga every day. She always finds a way to give each class a unique twist. She's very good at reading the energy of the group as well as the individual. While True Hot Yoga has many fine instructors, I often rearrange my schedule to catch one of Kay's classes. I have noticed that others do the same, as well. If only she had been my teacher when I first began to practice yoga! Anyone who starts yoga with her is lucky indeed. read more

I have a love/hate relationship with Hot Yoga. I have tried a few different studios (in different states) and never got that feeling of bliss/happiness/peacefulness. Having worn out all the cartilage in my knee which makes any type of high impact exercise out of the question - I decided to try hot yoga again - to gain cardio benefits without the impact. While I am still not "in love" with Hot Yoga and keep thinking I am in hell during class - I have to say I am very pleased with my experience at True Hot Yoga. My heart rate feels like it is beating out of my chest - so yes, you do get cardio benefits without any high impact whatsoever! Can you believe you are paying to do yoga in a 105 degree room - in AZ no less? But it does make a difference! The instructor is what makes all the difference. I agree with other comments that Kay is truly one of the best. Other instructors play their music too loud, move too quickly or don't really provide much direction. Kay, however, IMO is a notch above the rest. And like others have said - she does seem to care. Reminding people to work at their own pace and not feeling like you have to compete with those members who are more advanced. And trust me, they are there, sometimes you want to smack them because you think they are showing off, but truthfully you know it took some time to get there! I also like that Kay mixes up her classes so it's not always the same movement every time. This studio does not have the yogis actually instruct so those newer to yoga may need a few times to get the flow by watching others. I do prefer the wood floor in this studio vs. the carpeted rooms in Bikram (sweat on carpet? no thanks) Right now the class sizes are great, but I'm sure once the new year flips over the classes will be packed for again which can be a turnoff - I like my personal space, what can I say? So if you are in the Glendale area, try their 2 week deal for new members and give it a shot yourself. You will never sweat so much in your life and that's a good thing! read more

Okay. I'm going to admit it. I'm addicted. Got an ad from Sumits in the mail for 2 weeks for $20, jumped on the offer like white on rice, and what a heaping bowl of fun it has been! Similar to previous posts, Sumits is a variation of Bikram- all in all you walk out of there a hot mess and feeling quite amazing. What I like: wood floors- easy, clean, and simple; music is always different and makes yoga more fun, 90 minutes of detoxification, stretching, and truly feeling awesome. Clean showers and a nice bathroom filled with all your amenities. What I don't like: the price is freaking expensive (upwards of $110 for unlimited monthly??). I'm a student, come on now. Also, slight inconsistency with instructors; ie, depending on the instructor you could sweat your buns off or not really sweat because they keep opening the door.. Nonetheless, I'm hooked. You got me, Sumits; like a ball and chain. Bring your towel (I'd bring 2= one for mat and one for dripping face), cold water, and $20 for your 2 week deal. You're welcome. read more

Melissa is wonderful. This was my first hot yoga class and my second ever yoga class in general. She encouraged me to take my time and listen to what felt right. It was a wonderful session that allowed me to only focus on myself. You don't have to be an expert to take these classes, there are people of all ages, genders, and skill level. Just finished up a session with Jessica, and I loved it. She is great, and helps you with modifications if you need them! What a pleasant yoga studio, from the staff to the decor. They have a men's and women's bathroom, and (I'm assuming) both have a shower. There are also plenty of toiletries provided that you may need at the end of the sweaty session! Water fountain is available as well, which is different from the Frank Lloyd Wright location, as they do not have one. The room itself is very spacious, and the staff does a great job at cleaning the floor before/after every class. I highly recommend this studio! Everything about it was wonderful. Tips: 1. Come a little early (like 5-10 minutes) to snag a spot by the door if you're a beginner or prefer it to be a little cooler. The instructor opens the doors (two, one leading to the studio lobby and the other outside) intermittently during the session, which feels amazing! 2. Bring water! If you forgot, they have water and coconut water that you can purchase. 3. Check in and first time customers get a free unlimited week! 4.
