I've been trying to find something to decompress my nervous system for a while now and came across Kula Yoga while doing some research. I was hesitant at first because doing anything in a group setting with people I don't know is really outside of my comfort zone. I decided to take a leap of faith and signed up for a trial membership. The first class I took was a Basics class with Jodi and I was completely blown away! She is so kind, compassionate and encouraging. She gives off such an amazing energy and I felt immediately comfortable with her. She is a phenomenal yoga teacher and I love that she provides assistance when I need it. She taught me how to do a headstand and I never in a million years thought that was something I'd be able to learn. I also love attending Linda's classes. Her laugh and personality are so infectious and I get so much out of her classes, especially her Meridian Flow class. Janet is a great instructor as well, I took her yoga sculpt class for the first time last night and enjoyed it so much. One thing I really appreciate about Kula is that they say my name correctly when checking me in for each class. This really means a lot to me because most people that don't know me just call me "Sherry" which isn't the correct pronunciation. I've dealt with that most of my life so it makes me really happy when I come across people that actually say it right! Becoming a member at Kula has truly been one of the best decisions I've ever made for myself. During covid ibwas looking for a new Yoga studio and by chance saw this location. They were closed and I made it a point to keep checking. One day, finally the sign said OPEN of course I stopped. I met Jannet and she gave me additional information, as we spoke she told me she was an instructor there and that ibshould take advantage of the Newbie special. I did and it had been life changing. Kula is a great little gem in the NW valley. There is a good variety of classes, teachers are skilled and caring and the studio is always clean. The owner is great, she's often onsite and teaches classes as well which shines through in her pride of ownership. I highly recommend the monthly membership which is a great deal if you go twice a week or more. There is always a structure to the class, so I always know what to expect. The Kuka instructors add customization to what we need because they are so aware of their own daily movements and life. The instructors are extremely good at knowing what other yogi's bodies would need in certain situations and circumstances and they create a sequence accordingly. Man, we have a treasure in North Phoenix! Our community is blessed with KULA! I absolutely love this place. You go in and feel like you are with friends instantly. Every time I go I kick myself for not going more. It's low pressure, welcoming, well stocked with yoga tools, and the instructors are excellent. I find going to be excellent for my body and soul. The instructors are inviting to your spiritual journey and emphasize the spiritual needs to be truly healthy. They have a strong knowledge base on making your routine personal and useful to you. I have been attending this location for the past month under another name, Yoga for the Soul, It was purchased by one of the instructors due to the retirement of the previous owner. I was told that there will be some changes made but for the most part the classes and philosophy will remain the same. I was very happy to hear because the classes are Christ centered and have a very strong spiritual influence, the wife and I wish we would have found them alot sooner! Right on the door it says "community". That's exactly what Kula Yoga is! The yoga is great, the teachers are awesome, the variety of classes is diverse and the community is amazing! I have many favorite classes but my current is Ashtanga with Linda on Wednesday nights. Learning my body and working with it while deeply making necessary adjustments in a therapeutic manner has been incredibly and immediately beneficial!
