As time went on my gut feeling was correct. They will sub out work to the point of 4 contractors involved while everyone wants their cut and no one wants responsibility. All Audrey and her sub contractors see are dollar signs from a nice house in a nice part of town. When I called her out on the costs and blame shifting she became personally attacking to me and my employer. As a disabled combat vet I take trust and honesty very seriously. I'm building a detached garage at my home, and recently had a standing seam metal roof installed through True Green Roofing Solutions. I would highly recommend this company! I called 4 roofing companies in the Reno area to try to get bids on this project. Two companies flat out told me they were too busy to do a project this small. One other company took forever to get back to me, and eventually gave me an astronomical bid. True Green was the only company I called who was helpful, prompt, and gave me what I felt to be a reasonable bid. Audrey was fabulous to work with! She gave me a bid for the project, helped me choose the perfect color and style of metal to use, and coordinated everything with the installers. She was very pleasant and informative, and was always easy to get ahold of. Vince and his install team were awesome as well! They did top notch work, and were always courteous and professional. She is doing business with no contractors license, she has no business address (She does her business out of a p.o. box), and it isn't even her company who does the actual work. It took us 7 MONTHS to get our roof, and they caused extensive water damage and mold in our home. True Green replaced my 50 year old metal roof with a new standing seam metal roof in South Lake Tahoe in 2016. The price was quite reasonable compared to other bids, and they seemed knowledgeable and trustworthy. The actual contractor was Sierra Crest. Sadly, in the winter of 2022, the city building inspector informed me that they had never pulled a permit for the roof, and because of that it was subject to new building codes. Obtaining the permit had been included in the contract I had with Sierra Crest. After almost a month of daily prodding the contractor finally applied for the permit from the city, and the building inspector explained the details of what had to be done for him to sign off on the permit. Neither True Green nor Sierra Crest ever responded to me again. I was left holding the bag for the required codes. The worst part of this is that none of the inspections were ever done while the roof was being installed, and there is no way for me to know if they adhered to any of the required standards. I'd have to say stay away from True Green and Sierra Crest, contrary to appearances they cannot be trusted. True Green said it was just a paperwork snafu, but reputable roofers know that city inspections are required, and that's more than just paperwork. read more

Having been lucky to have parents build a cabin on the West Shore 50 years ago, the painful ownership reality sunk in when my sister and I had to find a roofer to replace the original shake (and we live in Southern California). This summer we decided to finally replace the roof on our 1924 Craftsman Bungalow in old Reno. Aesthetically, it was important to maintain the historic integrity of the house, but it was also equally important to consider a more green option. We chose to move forward with a metal roof option due to its Energy Star rating, lifetime warranty, fire-proofing properties, and its recycled content. Another consideration was that we plan to capture rainwater and snowmelt for landscaping and over time the metal roof will not shed material like an asphalt shingle roof, offering cleaner water for collection and storage into a cistern. After the decision to move forward with a metal roof option, we took some online recommendations to look into True Green Roofing. I spoke right away with Audrey Smith, and within the same day as my initial call she was on-site with brochures and literature to peruse, and then was up on the roof taking measurements. We received quotes from non-metal roofing companies around town in order to compare costs, though we were set on the metal roof option. Surprisingly, True Green Metal Roofing Solutions quote came in several thousand dollars less than the non-metal roofing company quotes. I was sold on the fire-proofing and energy-efficiency and was prepared to pay more for these "guarantees". Roughly five years ago, we replaced the roof on the garage with shingles, and I am surprised to see several of the shingles already lifting and buckling. As the work began, I was impressed with the level of communication from True Green Roofing Solutions, specifically Audrey, who is always several steps ahead of the project and very forth-coming with exact schedules for product delivery and installation. We had issues with the original installation of our metal roof and called 3 different roofers in addition to True Green to get opinions and estimates. True Green Roofing is NOT an installer. Audrey will consult with you, assess the problem and provide recommendations​. The combined bid for materials plus workmanship​ (an independent​​ contractor) was less than all the other bids and significantly less than 2. It was clear from her explanations and recommendations​ that she knew what she was talking about. Could not be happier. Great company and Audrey was easy and comfortable to work with. A note on the super negative review with 1 star. I do not know the reviewer and did not know Audrey or her company prior to using their services. In 2018, we hired True Green Roofing Solutions and a roofing contractor with whom they work (Sierra Coast Roofing out of Reno) to install a Tilcor stone coated metal shake roof on our family cabin in Kings Beach. It was a re-roofing project on a steep A-Frame. We are very pleased with the results. There were some glitches with the project--personal health emergencies with the contractor's family and workers, getting enough roofers in a timely fashion to do the very challenging removal of old shakes, the installation of an OSB underlayment and the new roof--but it all worked out quite well. The finished product looks great, and so far so good with its performance in the rain and snow this winter. To make up for the long delays, the roofer and Audrey offered to install a metal covering over a weathered superstructure surrounding our stove chimney--a good business practice to make sure that the customer was happy. And we are happy. Audrey with True Green and Juan with Sierra Coast seem to "know their stuff". I recommend Audrey for her facilitation skills in making the job happen and Juan and his crew for their hard work and craftsmanship. read more
