The waiting room has 2 couches and 2 chairs. There were tons of people there on a midday Wednesday and all the spots were full, but no one was standing or uncomfortable. Actually it was such a cozy spot that the stranger guests waiting were chatting amongst themselves. They also provide complementary coffee and snacks in the lobby. The employees were so professional and kind. You enter to visit the Dr on the right and exit the left to where the glasses are, then talk to someone at a table open to the lobby. First impressions are everything. So who calls me to apologize? Not Dr Presley, the office Manager. Result? I go three days without insulin because of a lack of professionalism, dedication and lack of concern? So while talking to the office manager I cancelled my wife's and three kid's appointments here. Really loved our time at Optical eyeland. We didn't stay long in the waiting room after checking…read morein, which was amazing. The optometrist explained in detail what was going on with my daughter's eyes and broke it down in layman's terms, which I appreciated. The staff was all very nice and welcoming of my two kids, who I had to bring along to the exam. After the eye exam, we were quickly greeted by someone who helped us pick out glasses for my daughter. I wasn't too happy with the price of the frames -- they were a bit high -- and adding the necessary lens features would make the overall cost even higher. I do wish there were more lower-priced frame options available. Overall, it was a great visit to Optical Island. We'll be back for future exams and hope to see a wider range of pricing for frames.

Cliff told me that the original driver - not Uber - sent to pick him up never showed. Then an Uber driver showed up but drove off. I was the third driver. All were arranged by his insurance carrier Wellcare. When I took him to the eye Institute, he was very concerned that he needed someone to stay with him. I agreed to do so even though I am an Uber driver. I assumed that once he was checked in, I would be finished. We waited between 30 and 45 minutes to be called to be checked in. It took so long that after 15 or 20 minutes I left re-park my car in an actual parking place. Because I was convinced they did not really need me to stay I started to leave but Clifton became upset; pulled out a lot of bills and offered to pay me to stay with him. I told him to put the money away and that I would stay as long as I was required. I again assumed that once he was finally checked in my duties would be over. When we were finally checked in the lady made clear that he would not be operated on unless I stayed with him during the surgery and indeed required me to sign a document agreeing to do so. Despite being a retired attorney, I knew how upset Clifton would be if the surgery did not go forward. He was a nervous wreck during the entire car ride, although he was trying to be friendly, polite, and talkative. My question is: how did the McGruder eye Institute and or his insurance carrier - Wellcare - allow a situation to develop where he was scheduled for and went to surgery without a person to sit with him and drive him back home after the surgery? I was so amazed about this situation that I briefly texted my three daughters to tell them about it. I expected my lawyer daughter to be upset with me for signing something agreeing to be this Uber passengers caretaker, and get him home safely. I am sitting in the waiting room as I dictate this waiting for Clifton to come out of surgery so that I can drive him home. Whether I will even do that as an Uber driver, or simply as his friend and signed caretaker, remains to be seen. When I left to go to the waiting room, he was third in line for surgery so that I'm expected to be here for another hour and a half minimum and then need to drive him home. Doing this required me to cancel a reservation with an Uber passenger I had for 3:15 PM. I have no idea whether I'll be available at 3:15 PM. I am happy to assist Clifton. I am outraged at the situation He and I were placed in by the McGruder eye Institute, Dr. Beneke, and Wellcare. Something needs to be done about this. This is unacceptable; ridiculous; outrageous; and every other negative word you can use to describe it. This cannot be a unique situation. Hopefully someone will bring a class action so that patients (and Uber/Lyft drivers) are not placed in this position again.

Time for my annual eye exam (yay me)…read more This location was a pain to find. The signage was hard to find. This location is tucked away on the side of the shopping center near the Sprouts. I checked in and was greeted with a 45 minute wait with two people ahead of me. The wait room is spacious at least, so the other two people waiting weren't crowded around me. The doctor was nice, and everything went smooth. Besides the longer wait, everything was good. The receptionist was very nice and kept me updated on my spot in queue. I would come back.

Clinical staff were nice, but to themselves. CON: 1)PAs and doctor seem overworked or unmotivated. This is not a good sign as there are errors made because of this. In fact, there was an error made with a female PA who saw my daughter. She recommended an ear infection antibiotic and did not mention this medicine turns my daughter's stool red. As you can imagine, I freaked out and ended up in the ER during the weekend to be told that it was the meds. I was hit with a 400.00 ER bill due to PA not communicating this one important info. I left the practice thereafter because my daughter deserves better care and providers who show they actually care. 2) The male PA gives me the creepiest feeling and would not want him to see my baby girl for visit. It was surprisingly affordable to have 3 new pairs of glasses to help me see so clearly. I even added transition lenses with the blue tinting to reduce glare on all three. I didn't use insurance and I still didn't break the bank! Service was with a smile and super quick! I was in and out within 10 minutes. That includes adjusting them to my liking. This is the 2nd time I've gotten my glasses here and I love the staff and their selection of frames. I'll see you all next year!
