Every piece was exquisite in its own right. There is a menu at the front desk, which clearly displays procedures and prices. Prices seemed pretty reasonable and on par with service and product. Paul was extremely knowledgeable in all aspects of piercing and jewelry. He went out of his way to explain everything from jewelry placement to sterilization. He made sure to dot every "i" and cross every "t". He was very personable and such a pleasure to deal with. He made my friend, whom had never been pierced before, very comfortable and at ease. I found this place via a simple Google search and I feel really fortunate that I did. They were SO incredibly nice. I was super anxious because I had never had a piercing with a needle before and they answered all of my questions and told me what to expect every step of the way. My piercer was Sebastian and I cannot say enough positive things about this guy. He kept me calm the entire way through, even told me how to breathe and when. This was my first piercing as an adult. The prior two piercings were my ears when I was 2 years old. After months of research, I finally decided to get my new piercings done with Paul at True Expressions. What solidified my decision was that they had been closed for a week so their staff could attend an APP conference in Las Vegas. I'm a huge supporter of continuing education and the fact they shut down for a week, losing business, to make sure their staff is up to date on the industry's practices made me feel secure. Upon entering the shop, you're greeted with a serene staff who obviously love their craft. It was a particularly busy weekend night, but Paul and the reception staff made sure I felt welcome. Paul thoroughly explained the procedure, the after-care, and the risks prior to the piercing. I was then taken to a sterile, clean, and large room that housed multiple industry certificates Paul earned. I spent about 45 minutes in the room and the entire time I watched as my jewelry and tools were sterilized. Paul even explained the technology to me. It was comforting to see the process and to know how long it takes to make sure everything that's touching your body is sterile. Then, we proceeded with the piercing. Paul coached me through some meditation breathing which helped a lot with the procedure. I was also given a stress ball! He was calm and repeated the breathing techniques and I surprised myself with how well I did. After the piercing, I was set up with a follow-up appointment to make sure my healing is right on track. I also didn't feel pressured to buy any saline solution at the counter. I only did because I'm traveling in a few months and will need a travel size saline spray. Paul actually talked through a more holistic approach to healing in addition to the after-care instructions and I swear it's helped. It's only been 3 days since my piercings and they've drastically healed already. Overall, I highly recommend going to Paul at True Expressions. I love this place so much. I usually have so much anxiety about stuff getting infected but when you go in, they're so clean. They're well educated and know tons about anatomy. They look out for what's in your best interest. I wanted an inverted navel ring and I remember getting told that it would reject but then he told me I could just get something else. I got these piercings done on July 3rd and it is currently July 8th. I got my rook and tragus done. These are my first piercings at True Expression, but not my first ear piercings overall. The experience here was better than anywhere else I've gotten my ears pierced. I booked my appointment through a super easy-to-navigate online system (you can find appts through their website) and scheduled it maybe 1-2 months in advance? They are pretty busy, though, (with GOOD REASON) and when I tried to reschedule my July 3rd appointment a couple weeks before in May, I saw they were booked out until July 30th so plan ahead. The shop is super clean, and instantly when you walk in, Sebastian greets you, asks you what you're looking for, checks you in for your appointment, and you start looking at jewelry. Sign your waiver in the online email reminder before you come to save time. Right when I told Sebastian what I wanted, he put on some latex gloves and looked at my ears to let me know if I had the anatomy to for the piercings I was interested in. He confirmed. I pulled up some pictures of jewelry that I wanted, and he showed me comparable options in the shop, also letting me know the price. We went back and forth on a couple flower options since he told me the original jewelry size I wanted might either poke me in the side of the face (tragus location), or be too big for the area. I really appreciated this, because previous places I'd gone really didn't have any input on jewelry and I felt like since Sebastian was letting me know his professional opinion in a really secure manner, that I was already in good hands. After picking out the jewelry, Paul sanitized all the materials needed and we just sat in the waiting area and chatted about his favorite restaurant recommendations. Paul was super informative, and both asked repeatedly if I had any questions. I ended up asking about aftercare, why rejections happen, how long he's been piercing, etc. The whole atmosphere felt very safe, and the piercing room itself looks like a doctor's clinic. The tragus piercing took honestly less than a couple minutes. It felt very precise and jewelry was inserted without a problem. Rook took a little longer but, again, the entire process felt like I was in good hands. It's now July 8th and my piercings feel great. The soreness is pretty much nonexistent. Paul also sends you an email with brightly lit pictures of your piercing(s) at multiple angles, and pointed out to me that they were straight from all angles. So happy, better than I imagined! It's been a whole week since I went to Paul and had my nose pierced. I was excited about doing it but was also concerned that I might be too old to get my nose pierced but he assured me that it was all in my head. This is such a beautiful clean spot in the heart of Elmhurst (Queens Center Mall) the perfect oasis. Went to true expression for a tragus piercing. When I 1st arrived, Sebastian was very welcoming and greeted me. He explained what I should expect and some future precautionary measures I should take after having the piercing. January 2019 I had a bad dermal piercing done at a different unprofessional location. My body started to reject it and I had a wedding coming up. So I was lucky to find this place on Yelp. Came here with an appointment(pre-Covid19) and Paul saved me! He removed my dermal and was able to guide me on how to help my scar tissue to heal. So then he suggested a bar piercing which I really liked. So off I went to heal for a couple of weeks. I informed him I had a wedding and he said things would work out. So I came back a couple of weeks before my wedding and Paul was able to put a bar piercing where my dermal used to be and it was beautiful!
