My daughter and granddaughter accompanied me on a mission to find specific hard to find Pokémon cards to complete a set. We were able to find 5 or 6 of them. It was so much fun hanging out and ferreting through boxes and boxes of cards. We weren't rushed out and were left to dig at our leisure. I'll return to True to dig, sort, and converse. I came in asking if they had any of the 30th Anniversary for Pokemon and two associates told me "they haven't come in yet" and so eventually I asked if I could hang around until they did get them in and one of them said, "sure, but we just don't know when they'd be coming in" and I figured since it's my day off I had time to kill. And since it was implied that they'd be getting them in later I decided to sit and wait. I looked through a bunch of their bulk to kill time. It only took another customer coming in over an hr later asking about the 30th and then another associate said directly, "no, we sold out already" so now I'm starting to get frustrated cause I had decided to wait patiently for it cause they made it sound like they were expecting some to come in and so when I went up to the same associate I talked to and explained to her what I just heard, she says she'll go and ask the guy. He told her they were sold out and so she goes on to tell me "yeah, we just don't know when we'll get them in, maybe some time next week" like girl, I wasn't planning to wait a whole week. She played it off as if this was the first time I was talking with her, I wanted to reply back, "oh but you said you guys were gonna get them in later.." cause I have been waiting over an hour. I basically just stayed quiet cause I thought this place was cool before, I had great customer service the last time I was there but I basically feel like I was jerked around. Like if they had just told me straight up from the beginning that they were sold out I might've gotten something else, cause I definitely browsed around their showcases to see what else I would like in case they didn't have any of the 30th. Growing up I always thought this place was cool until recently when I walked in sometime in June. I had recently gotten in to collecting comics and since this store is right around the corner from home and I popped in the back to look at the boxes of unsorted comics and picked one up and went to check out. The lady at the front was nice but was a bit sketchy about ringing me up. She was trying to be really discreet but I saw her take a photo of the comic and search up the price on eBay to then ring me up for $16.99. Now I'd somewhat understand if it was a comic with a variant cover or even a grail comic in good quality but it was a one shot Batman comic. I just feel like that was completely ridiculous. To be perfectly honest, I prefer coming here over Top Deck. They've always been friendly, seem to actually want my business, and the owner (?) even remembered my wife and I and what we were looking for, even though we had only come in once a few weeks prior during a super busy time for them. Both times, she was super helpful, as was the other employee who helped us. There are a lot of display cases with vintage and boxed product, vintage video games, comics, and some miscellaneous stuff. They have a TON of Yugioh and Pokemon to sift through. They even have some Digimon boosters and crossing fingers for more selection of that. :) Prices are pretty fair, especially for boxed/sealed product. Singles prices can fluctuate, but usually they follow market. I'm always late to the party for their Insta deals, but maybe I'll snag one one day. I called twice before I left my house, no answer (assuming they're busy) upon arrival the store is still closed and it's about an hour after opening. Literally the worst card shop ever . Everything is marked up at 80-90% over market value . Complete rip off , I understand it's a business and you need to make money but there's a fine line between 20% mark up and over charging . Something to add that may not be true anymore but I have witnessed the owner a few years ago buy stolen product and selling it for more money despite never getting at the original price ( and with tax lmao). Ask me how I know this ? Purchased a card from their IG a couple months ago and never received it. They said it got lost in the mail that they sent out another one which was over two weeks ago.
