I recently (within the last few years) had mini-splits installed all throughout my house. No less…read morethan 6 Heads and 2 outdoor units capable of 4 heads apiece. I had a three company bidding war going on to see who would, in the end, give us the greatest value for our system. It turned out that Aire Serv, through the owner's brother, gave us the best equipment for the best value. So we went with Aire Serv... and then I've had nothing but headaches since. 1. One of the six heads iced up thick enough make snowballs. One of the installers connected the refrigerant line from another head to it, so it iced over even though it didn't need coolant. 2. My largest head carrying the most load has had issues since very shortly after installation. I was told "there's nothing wrong", "there's not enough coolant", "there's too much coolant", "there's nothing wrong" again, "it's your fault", and finally one of their technicians correctly determined the blower wheel motor was defective and got it replaced, but not until being gaslit for no less than probably 4-6 technician calls. 3. When I went to purchase the maintenance agreement, the owner's brother never told me the price he was quoting me was for only 1/2 of my system. Imagine my surprise when the maintenance agreement was double the price. 4. One of the heads leaked water over my original hardwood floors and caused damage. Why? Because an installer didn't wrap the refrigerant line in insulation so it condensed and ran down my wall. Their fix? sand it down until you can't see the damage. 5. I was told by one of the technicians "I'm not sure this system was designed correctly. You probably need another head for your main living area". Awesome! So the system I purchased wasn't correctly sized or designed? That's just great! No wonder I feel like the system doesn't do a good job of keeping my living space cool in the summer time. 6. And now, I'm being told if I want to maintain my warranty that I have to purchase surge protection for over $1,500. It can only be installed by them. I can't get my own protection or contractor. I'm pretty sure a post hoc change like this is illegal, but I'm not a law professional. I would encourage anyone who is in law to look at this review and consider reaching out to get a class action together. From what it sounds like, Aire Serv is doing this to all of their customers. It's not OUR, the customer's fault, that Aire Serv did not have the foresight to consider that surge protection would be a great idea for installations... but they certainly are trying to make us pay for their hindsight. I would NOT recommend Aire Serv. If you have a modicum of handy homeowner skills, just get a Mr. Cool DIY system from home improvement stores for 1/4 of the price. Or better yet, just buy the $400 in window mini-split units that look like legacy window units and save 90% of the cost of install. If you don't or can't install it on your own, there are other HVAC companies, like Moon Air. Don't get me wrong, the system works 75% to my expectations. Mitsubishi makes great mini-splits. But go through another company other than Aire Serv - they are the problem.

He also looked at the existing supply/return trunks, registers, calculated sq footage, air handler, ect. to evaluate that my system was loosing cfm which translates to less efficiency and higher heating and cooling costs. First they try to sell you stuff that you don't need. My unit wasn't running so they came out to troubleshoot the problem. First let me tell you that we have Vivid as our security system and they control or thermostat and heating and air conditioning and everything is tied into that, we were having trouble with that and their guy came out and fixed their part. Vivid called Moon a Local Company to do the rest and boy did day ever. They pulled a wire from my inside unit and put in a part upside down from my outside unit so my air conditioning would not work they try to sell me two Breakers and told me that my air conditioning needed to be clean and it was going to run me a $1,000 so we put in the two Breakers and after that my air conditioning wouldn't come on because they sabotage my unit. All of this was going on and my husband just got home from the hospital later on that day. They knew he was sick and that money was tight. They don't care this is a sick company that will do anything to make a buck. Our friend came out the next day that was in the air conditioning business and said that if you didn't know what to look for, you would have never have found it!!! With the wire being disconnected. He hooked the wire back up and put the part right outside and our system works wonderful now he said that we didn't need the breakers and that our system doesn't need to be cleaned it's fine I've been cleaning it on a regular basis. When I originally called, the only fee mentioned was a $120 diagnostic fee. There was no mention whatsoever of a no-show fee or a travel fee. Now they are trying to force me to pay a $59 travel fee, even though the technician arrived before the scheduled appointment time. To make matters worse, this fee was not explained to me until after they had already shown up. Completely unprofessional and misleading business practices.

I paid $129 for the diagnosis which would go towards the price of fixing whatever problem there was. The plumber arrived quickly but apparently no one at his company gave him a heads up as to what was needed so he didn't have the necessary equipment on hand. He was great, he further diagnosed my drain problem and even though his boss wanted him to charge me an additional $129 he didn't do it, he referred me to a special drain company who I ended up using. So overall it was a positive experience but had some confusion. Mark the plumber was great.

Big Red Services did a very poor installation job it didn't pass inspection. Big Red Services…read morespilled and left toxic oil spill all over my basement floor for me to clean up and get rid of and addition to the oil smell while Big Red was cutting up and removing an oil tank from the basement. The whole house still smells of oil over a month later. The incorrect installation on the inside unit caused it to freeze up leaving a high level of humidity all over basement and upstairs. I called Big Red to report the problems of the unit they installed not working leaking water all over the floor and the oil spill their company left on the floor it was 13 days before they sent their representative who said the unit setting were incorrect. I asked the Big Red representative to point to the return that was part of the bill Big Red sent. His reply there's none. When I asked Big Red why we were told and charged for a return and not told that electrical work needed to be done in the estimate their representative Ryan gave, Big Red replied Ryan is a salesman. After salesman Ryan gave the estimate he called a couple of days later to tell me $1,800.00 electrical work needed to be done and Big Red was still going to install the unit but the unit couldn't be operated until the electrical work was done. The oil spill on the floor and the water leaking from the frozen unit caused mold to build up in the basement exponentially. During a conversation with the Big Red representative Tammy after the unit failed I asked for a new unit and Tammy said she would order a Bryant but it wouldn't available until Monday and someone would come and switch the units. The Big Red representative that came claimed that the unit was not set correctly and he would not be switching the units. When I asked management about Tammy's promise of switching the failed unit to a Bryant I was asked if I had it in writing. The electric bill doubled during this time because the fan ran continuously while the unit was failing. Big Red's instillation did not pass inspection. The inspector said there were problems with the instillation Big Red had to come back to fix them. I received a billed for the reinspection for an inspector to come back to see if Big Red had fixed the problems correctly from their incorrect installation.
