​ this will be my second review on this company. This company should not be allowed to be in your home they are not trustworthy, they do unethical things. So let me tell you. First they try to sell you stuff that you don't need. My unit wasn't running so they came out to troubleshoot the problem. First let me tell you that we have Vivid as our security system and they control or thermostat and heating and air conditioning and everything is tied into that, we were having trouble with that and their guy came out and fixed their part. Vivid called Moon a Local Company to do the rest and boy did day ever. They pulled a wire from my inside unit and put in a part upside down from my outside unit so my air conditioning would not work they try to sell me two Breakers and told me that my air conditioning needed to be clean and it was going to run me a $1,000 so we put in the two Breakers and after that my air conditioning wouldn't come on because they sabotage my unit. All of this was going on and my husband just got home from the hospital later on that day. They knew he was sick and that money was tight. They don't care this is a sick company that will do anything to make a buck. Our friend came out the next day that was in the air conditioning business and said that if you didn't know what to look for, you would have never have found it!!! With the wire being disconnected. He hooked the wire back up and put the part right outside and our system works wonderful now he said that we didn't need the breakers and that our system doesn't need to be cleaned it's fine I've been cleaning it on a regular basis. Customers beware of this company!!! Everyone that I have talked to about them has bad things to say about them. Plus they told me all these lies!!! I'm going to put every complaint possible that I can put in about them. Better Business Bureau Angie's List etc etc . Moon Air is great! Let me tell you my story. We had our yearly maintenance scheduled from another vendor (sounds like ErviceOday) for our heater on Nov 6. We were told by the tech that we had a cracked heat exchanger and the entire heater had to be replaced (humidifier & air filter unit). We started getting quotes from different vendors. We met with Jason Towers who was helpful, informative, explained we only the heater had to be replaced. Also, said that our duct work was inadequate. We had ErviceOday also give us a quote. We decided to go with Moon Air and our new heater was installed on Nov 13. The techs Brian, Adrian & Paul were great, clean while working and loved my dogs. They worked from 9 am until 6 pm and everything was installed, working and the house clean. This company/team is very affordable and so helpful. DO NOT use Moon Air for any HVAC service. I am not one to do reviews but I felt like I needed for this one. This was perhaps the worst experience I have had with a contractor. Our HVAC would not turn the gas furnace on (happened on a Saturday). I had to deal with the issue asap as we are in the middle of winter and this was a rental property. I called and they said that it would cost extra to come out on the weekend and said Monday would be cheaper if I could hold out. I agreed. Shortly, the tech called and said that he had spoken to his boss and that they could "work the weekend diagnostic fee" into the repair and that they would come out same day. The tech did not come until hours later. He came in and told us the pressure switch and control board needed replacement. (HVAC just installed in 2021) He quoted me 700 for the switch and 1300 for the board. Asked me to sign over the 1k deposit so that he could guarantee me service on Monday. I asked if I could review the estimate and send it over later that night but felt cornered into signing over the deposit so that my service could be "guaranteed". No where in the estimate did it denote the diagnostic fee or it being "worked in". I also asked multiple times on the phone when he was coming over and was not told a concrete answer. I should have been more persistant. On Sunday morning, I had regrets because something felt off and felt I needed a 2nd pair of eyes even if I had to eat another diagnostic fee. I called AirServ in Elkton and they got me a tech over in 30 minutes and was clear on the 89 diagnostic fee and that it would be removed if I repaired it with them. EXCELLENT service from AirServ. The tech was very knowledgeable and explained everything to me. Turns out my pipe was leaking and puddling inside. This caused the switch to trip. My boyfriend could have fixed it for $40. I let them do it just for piece of mind and since they had great communication and were upfront/transparent. They got it done in 1.5 hours for $400 and told me my switch and board were completely fine!!!! I called Moon Air on Monday telling them to cancel my service and that I would pay the diagnostic fee but wanted the rest of my money back since A) the diagnostic was completely wrong B) It had already been taken care of. The lady told me she would look into it and call me back. She never did. I called Tuesday and the said they would issue a refund that day and email me /call me. They never did. I followed up on Thursday, and they could not connect me with the office since it was Jan 2nd (maybe holiday hours?). I called Friday again and they said they would send me the confirmation. I finally saw it back on my card on Saturday (1 weeks from the whole nightmare) and I never received one call or email!! Getting a hold of this company is a nightmare since the person who answers the phone doesn't work at the actual office. I also communicated with the tech via text and when I explained the situation to him, he completely ghosted me even thought he had been texting me when he was coming over to diagnose. So terrible, so stressful and almost lost 2k to have something that wasn't broken fixed. I'm sure they would have fed me some BS and then figured it was the pipe for another exorbitant repair cost to come my way. AIRSERV all the way. They are so responsive, excellent communication, fair pricing and just cannot get over how awesome and KNOWLEDGEABLE they were. They explained everything in ways I could understand. read more

I used Moon Air 2 years ago for a natural gas furnace/air conditioner installation so I called and asked for an estimate to run a gas line from the line already installed to my kitchen for a stove hookup. As a previous customer, my complaint is that they wanted to charge me $109! I'm not sure what happened to the idea that there is a "cost of doing business" but it seems to have died. Why should I pay for them to send someone out to my house to quote me a price? If they want the business, they are going to have representatives evaluate a job. To me, it's the same as paying for advertising - if they want customers, they have to advertise their services. I'm looking at companies now that offer free estimates - and there are plenty of them out there. Moon Air just lost any future HVAC business I might need. read more

Horrible company. Had these guys out for a repair. They told us we had a bad compressor and we needed to replace the whole system. We had another company come out to take a 2nd look and all that needed to be replaced was a $100 part. Moon didn't seem interested at all in trying to repair my unit and basically just pressured me toward having the system completely replaced. They just wanted me to speak to a salesman, and seemed completely uninterested in helping once we expressed hesitation. Their "tune up" costs $110 (and that's on sale, normally it's over $200), yet they don't know what the definition of tune up is, as they don't actually do anything... I tried to explain to the lady that tune up means to make adjustments and fix things, yet she kept calling it a tune up yet contradicting herself by saying they don't make any repairs or improvements during the tune up. If you want to spend a lot of money to get your HVAC looked at, but not fixed, then by all means. read more

Absolutely horrible- Moon sent a tech to diagnose an issue with my A/C Unit. They quoted me for a "Voltage Enhancement System Rejuvenation", which would be between $411 (for what they call a "band-aid" fix) all the way to $1200 for a full service repair. I did some research, and ended up fixing the unit MYSELF in five minutes with a $17 part. I called to confirm- the $411 repair was only the $17 part and a new bracket to hold it. I paid $109 for them to come to my home and try rip me off. Do not use this company. read more

Moon services in my opinion are terrible at servicing their customer. I had to wait 4 to 5 days for an original appointment. The technician was pleasant and knowledgeable. I was told they would call me that day with a quote. I had to call them three days later to find out the quote. Tammy had to call me back. Called me back and told me that the parts were not under warranty even though they gave me a 10 year parts warranty. They stated that because I did not pay them each year to have the unit inspected that the unit is no longer under warranty. Seems like a rip-off to me. read more

I had no problem with their service, respectful, knowledgeable and any problems on their end were fixed quickly. However, this year membership rates were doubled for the same membership from last year, and since I only have a single unit to service; there's no benefit for me with or without a membership. Update 10/20/2017 Moon stated the combustion chamber on my furnace was going to need to be replaced(cracks,lining)and it would cost $1,000 for repair. Come to find there were no cracks, it looked very good, for it's age, and it can be done cheaper. read more

Paul and Gerald put a new thermostat and coil in the downstairs AC unit in mid-July, and did an excellent job! These two gentlemen stayed most of the day, and didn't even stop for lunch. Working in a hot/humid crawlspace is not the easiest task in 90 degree heat. It was sweltering hot, but they just worked right through the heat. I was very pleased with the work completed, and both the Honeywell Supreme Comfort Control System and the AC coil perform perfectly! Mahalo to everyone at Moon Air for always being there for us! Had some AC issues last summer...why wouldn't it be in the middle of the summer, right?? Had moon air come out, explained options of what was wrong, what they could repair vs. replace, and provided numbers for all of our options. The cool part is that the technician that does the diagnostics to determine what is wrong isn't the sales guy. It's a touch frustrating to want a number from a guy who isn't trying to sell you anything, but they get the sales guy out the same day, and the next day they're installing! Literally got us back up and running the next day after calling, which is pretty impressive considering we did an entire system replacement. Also, join their VIP club and it basically pays for itself if you're getting anything major done. read more

Went with 2 stars because they can provide good service, but $340 for a pressure switch for labor only on a unit they installed 6 years ago is total BS. So I knew about the $90 to have someone show up and diagnose, he did that and said it was a pressure switch. So I was charged $250 to walk to the truck, walk back, attach 3 wires and 1 screw at the front of the cabinet. All he could say is "well that's our standard rate for that service". Well it's a load of shit if it's true or not. He was able to travel 1/2 there and 1/2 hour home and work for 1/2 hour for $90, then suddenly they charge $1000 per hour after that. I liked this company and the previous person they sent to conduct requested repairs, so I signed up for a contract, which gave me a discount on parts and services, as well as a yearly service. At the time of my yearly service, Moon Air sent two unfamiliar gentlemen to conduct it. They spent over two hours in my house, attic, and with the unit. Up to this point, my unit worked properly and I had no issues. However their assessment differed greatly. They adamantly insisted that I need over $400 worth of work and parts replaced on my unit. They were unable to tell me specific parts, other than sensor and control board. When pressed for more information on what was wrong, all they did was provide my unit's model number. It seemed very disingenuous. I proceeded to call a separate company (the company that installed my unit for the previous owners) to schedule a diagnosis with them for a second opinion. They found absolutely nothing wrong with my unit and saved me the trouble of unnecessary "repairs." I would not recommend this company unless you want to spend money on unnecessary work. read more

This service had been recommended to me by a friend, so when I received a message from Amazon Local with a coupon offer for inspection and tune up of Air Conditioning and heating units I went for it. Both my furnace and AC are less than five years old and never had a problem, but they hadn't been checked out in a long time and I wanted to be sure they were safe. It cost some money, but I thought it would prevent future problems. I was really wrong about that, because about two weeks after their "tune-up" it got hot enough to need AC. My air conditioner quit working for the first time ever. I called the Moon Air people back thinking if they had done something wrong they would fix it without charge. They discovered that the compressor had burned itself up along with the jacket around the compressor, a capacitor some wires and a contactor. The return visit was only $29, but the estimate to repair it was over $2000. I was in shock. They said they had "never seen anything like it". The AC (Trane) has a 10 year parts warranty. To make a long story short I got another estimate from a Trane repair service for about half the price Moon estimated. Naturally I went with the much lower estimate, and they fixed it yesterday and so far it seems back to normal. I guess that AC tune -up was a big waste of time and money. I also had to go without AC for most of June. Nobody can explain to me why the AC self-destructed, but apparently there are several possible causes. The young men who came to my house seemed earnest and pleasant, and I have heard good things about Moon Air. My experience with them was unfortunately disappointing. read more

Bought a LivingSocial deal for two tune ups. They came out pretty quick after I made the appointment. They ended up having to replace the motor in one of our units. Less than an hour after they left the unit failed. The next morning I called them and they came back out and fixed it again. Problem wasn't their fault, some screw snapped in half. So it's August it's hot and guess what quit working, my heat pump. So I call Moon air. I need a replacement. They tell me a salesman will be out in the morning. To my behold it's Steve Moon. We sit down and discuss the particulars of size SEER and other issues. We agree on a price and he offers next day install. Out come two wonderful employees JP and Anthony. It's real feel heat at 110 130 in my attic and these guys completed repairs Ina timely and efficient manner. They did it as true representatives of Moon Air. The price was right The service was better than right. And the unit functions better than I anticipated. Had Moon Services come out to my Elton Maryland home to diagnose why my heat pump, which they installed 13 years ago, was not working. Customer Service on the phone was great. The technician arrived on time. After just over an hour he had found that the circuit breaker for the compressor unit was switched off, a "small refrigerant leak in the evaporator coil inside the air handler", and that the R-22 Freon was low. He said it was policy to not add R-22 to a system until the leak was fixed. The tech left without charging the system. The tech provided an estimate to remove the coil, fix it, evacuate the lines, and recharge the system, at a cost of $4,200. Sensing something was amiss, since they system ran fine all winter (its a heat pump, so it heats and cools), it didn't make sense to me that the system was broken. I decided to get a second opinion and contacted Level Home Services. The technician from Level found nothing wrong with my system. He said the Freon was not low, there was no leak, and according to his measurements, my system was running perfectly. When it comes to Moon Services, BUYER BEWARE! From my knowledge and experience, it seems to me that Moon Services is much more interested in bilking as much cash from your bank account as they can instead of providing an honest service to get your home comfortable for the lowest cost possible. There was NO LEAK, the refrigerant WAS NOT LOW! Bottom line up front; they lie. read more

I've honestly had nothing but bad experiences with Moon Air. We were buying a home and the HVAC did not seem to be working properly so the seller's had Moon Air inspect it and they said it was fine. We bought the home, only to find for certain that it was not working. Moon Air came out and found a sensor had gone bad but refused to stand by their inspection stating that "sensors can go bad at any time". After that, our system was still not working properly so we called them again. They came out and changed our thermostat thresholds and said that it was fine and that there was nothing wrong with the system, though it continued to act up. Today Moon Air returned for regular maintenance to prep for the AC. The guy who came today said he looked through the file and saw where Moon Air had recommended that the capacitor be replaced to the old seller, yet they failed to put that in their inspection report. He also said the system was too small for the home- again, it was never placed in the inspection report. We are so done dealing with them. We have a service contract with them but will be going elsewhere from now on. Our experience with them has wasted our money without fixing the problem and the company has overall been dishonest with us on 3 separate occasions. Please save your money. We'll be replacing our unit using another company. read more

Better off to do with out A/c or heat if dealing with this company. The worst experience by a service company ever!! Hector the tech we had, is Rude & Arrogant and does unnecessary repairs...a true liar in every sense of the word. Company works on a flat rate cost so called straight forward pricing. Believe me you are much better off paying a reputable contractor hourly wages, than to trust these clowns.
