I recently (within the last few years) had mini-splits installed all throughout my house. No less…read morethan 6 Heads and 2 outdoor units capable of 4 heads apiece. I had a three company bidding war going on to see who would, in the end, give us the greatest value for our system. It turned out that Aire Serv, through the owner's brother, gave us the best equipment for the best value. So we went with Aire Serv... and then I've had nothing but headaches since. 1. One of the six heads iced up thick enough make snowballs. One of the installers connected the refrigerant line from another head to it, so it iced over even though it didn't need coolant. 2. My largest head carrying the most load has had issues since very shortly after installation. I was told "there's nothing wrong", "there's not enough coolant", "there's too much coolant", "there's nothing wrong" again, "it's your fault", and finally one of their technicians correctly determined the blower wheel motor was defective and got it replaced, but not until being gaslit for no less than probably 4-6 technician calls. 3. When I went to purchase the maintenance agreement, the owner's brother never told me the price he was quoting me was for only 1/2 of my system. Imagine my surprise when the maintenance agreement was double the price. 4. One of the heads leaked water over my original hardwood floors and caused damage. Why? Because an installer didn't wrap the refrigerant line in insulation so it condensed and ran down my wall. Their fix? sand it down until you can't see the damage. 5. I was told by one of the technicians "I'm not sure this system was designed correctly. You probably need another head for your main living area". Awesome! So the system I purchased wasn't correctly sized or designed? That's just great! No wonder I feel like the system doesn't do a good job of keeping my living space cool in the summer time. 6. And now, I'm being told if I want to maintain my warranty that I have to purchase surge protection for over $1,500. It can only be installed by them. I can't get my own protection or contractor. I'm pretty sure a post hoc change like this is illegal, but I'm not a law professional. I would encourage anyone who is in law to look at this review and consider reaching out to get a class action together. From what it sounds like, Aire Serv is doing this to all of their customers. It's not OUR, the customer's fault, that Aire Serv did not have the foresight to consider that surge protection would be a great idea for installations... but they certainly are trying to make us pay for their hindsight. I would NOT recommend Aire Serv. If you have a modicum of handy homeowner skills, just get a Mr. Cool DIY system from home improvement stores for 1/4 of the price. Or better yet, just buy the $400 in window mini-split units that look like legacy window units and save 90% of the cost of install. If you don't or can't install it on your own, there are other HVAC companies, like Moon Air. Don't get me wrong, the system works 75% to my expectations. Mitsubishi makes great mini-splits. But go through another company other than Aire Serv - they are the problem.

This is our second year with Burns and McBride, and unfortunately, we are experiencing the same…read morescheduling issues as last year. We contacted them because our air conditioner is not working and we needed prompt service. Last year, a representative repeatedly postponed our appointment after a date and time had already been confirmed. While I understand that arrival windows can be flexible, I would expect the technician to show up on the agreed date at a minimum. Both my husband and I work outside the home and had to take time off for the appointment. When the rep did not show, and we called to follow up, we were told they needed to reschedule, forcing us to take additional days off. We thought that the rep was not good and continued our business with them. This year, the pattern has repeated. We scheduled an appointment, they confirmed a Saturday time slot, and we waited. The rep never showed. When we called, we were told Saturdays are for emergencies only, and our appointment had been moved to Monday without any notice. We waited again on Monday, only to be told it was postponed once more to the following day. What makes this even more frustrating is that neither the technician nor the company took the initiative to call and inform us of the cancellation or delay. Every single time, we are the ones who have to call to find out what is happening. That is not acceptable customer service. When someone takes time off work for a scheduled appointment, the least a company can do is pick up the phone. We have been patient, but this level of unreliability and lack of communication is unacceptable when we are without air conditioning and losing workdays waiting for a service that never arrives. Our house is just 7 yrs old now that i read the other review , i wonder if they have actually made efforts to fix the issue in the first place

The pump was installed incorrectly and the screws to the heater were never screwed down. I'd never use them if anybody asked them I'd say goes as far away from him if you possibly can. I am a senior and handicapped. I'll never let him in my home again.

When we needed a new HVAC, we got an estimate from Frederick that was $1000+ over the estimate from another long-time, reputable local company. But out of loyalty to Frederick, we politely asked if they would shave $200 off to come *slightly* closer to this other quote. We actually hate haggling, but had read that you're expected to, for new HVAC. Can't hurt, right? They responded. Had they just said, "No, that's not possible due to XYZ," we would have hired them and paid the full price. But instead the rep explained why it wasn't possible, and then, in a polite but insulted tone, *rescinded their bid*, essentially telling us they would not be doing the job either way. All over a request for $200 off a $7000 job. We were stunned. Needless to say, we haven't called them for anything since, and we're the kind of easy-going, non-complaining customers contractors usually like to have. We got our HVAC at the other place and it's running fine, a few years later. Owner, if you're reading this: I get that you're doing well enough that you don't need to accept anyone's attempt to haggle, and can charge a lot more than the competition. Good for you. I'm purposefully not giving you a 1 star because I don't believe in trying to hurt someone's business. But talk to your guys about not reacting in a personal way to long-time customers. The reaction we got was really uncalled for. Maybe the guy was having a bad day, but you have to leave that behind when you're interacting with a customer, especially an established one. He could have just said "No, we can't do that, but let me know if you want to proceed with us." We would have.

Alexis, the very nice salesperson, gave me a quote on three systems, and helpful information to review. The cleaned up after themselves.
