I'll admit that my alterations were quite minimal--the two Jos. A. Bank suits I ordered were pretty good out of the box. But the pants needed to be hemmed properly and a small alteration to the waist was needed in one of them. Truc and her team did it in two days, and charged me what I thought was ridiculously little for the work. Although the tailoring provided in this shop has been good in the past, their lack of professionalism / customer service warrants this poor review. I dropped off a pair of new black, Italian wool designer trousers for minor alterations. When I went to pick them up today, I was presented with a pair of cheap blue polyester slacks. In response to my protests that these were not my pants, Truc alternated between insisting that they were ("Try them on! Try them on!") - yelling at the seamstress whom she claims switched the tickets - and blaming me for not picking up the pants last week. She insisted that I prove that these were not my pants. If anyone has suggestions for how I might do that, please chime in! I showed her the emailed purchase receipt for the pants I had dropped off (which included a photo as well as their brand/color/size/material), but this was insufficient to satisfy Truc. I am out $222 for the pants AND the $15 alteration charge, which she did not refund. We all make mistakes. If Truc had admitted her mistake and rectified it, I would not have had to resort to this negative review. Unfortunately, she responded to my concerns with denial + blaming the seamstress + blaming me. This is unacceptable. read more

Took 2 pair of pants there to get hemmed and tapered. Woman (I think she was the owner) who took my measurements was very nice and got the fit just right. She only put pins in 1 of the pants legs on 1 pair of the pants, I was a little worried but I have never altered anything so I don't know how the process goes. I got both pair of pants back and they both fit perfectly just the way I wanted them to fit. This will be my go-to place for tailoring from now on. A little hard to find as this store is in the top row of stores in the plaza so there are some steps in the breezeway you can walk up or you can go around to the back of the plaza to an elevated parking lot where you can enter closer to the store. read more

It's hard to find a dressmaker in the area and Truc is okay. I came to her with a design, and she recreated it pretty well. She had initially said she could get it done in two weeks, but then that was extended by a few days because of Easter. Her office seems suuuuper busy, so I felt quite rushed and struggled to communicate my concerns because she seemed like she was trying to get to other things. I liked the dress, I liked that she had a fitting before pick up, but there were a few things I would have liked to have fixed before final payment that I didn't get to. At the end, I asked her how to wash the dress; she said, just like normal. I put it in the washer today, took it out to hang dry and noticed that a bunch of the seams in the lining had come undone and parts of the lining were unconnected from the material. So, that sucks. I'll need to go to a different tailor to get that fixed because I plan to wear this to a wedding. I had hoped to have a dress I could keep for years but the way it was made, I'm not sure it'll last. I don't think I'll be going back to Truc. Dress cost $200. read more

Have been looking for a place to make custom clothes from fabric I bought overseas and after a lot of searching, I found Truc. She has made 3 custom dresses for me and I have gotten lots of complements! No need to patterns. I once brought a dress in as a guide for one of the designs. She was able to sketch the style for each of the dresses and I came in for two fittings (including the final ones) for final fixes. The turn over was about 2-3 weeks since I was in no rush. Each dress was a little pricey but for all the custom work, I think it has been worth the investment. I plan on coming back to Truc soon to have a couple of pieces of clothing made. They do a great job. We travel all the way from fairfax, VA to get clothes tailored here. For example, my daughter bought a suit but was big and long for her. She wanted the jacket and the pant to be short and skinny with extra buttonholed for flower. They did excellent work with a short deadline and the suit fits her perfectly like a custom suit. Truc was so so nice to work with. I needed 3 dresses altered for my upcoming wedding, and she was affordable, nice and honest. For one of the dresses, she created a custom corset back from the fabric she hemmed off. It looks perfect. Unfortunately, I can't wear the dress to the wedding for personal reasons, but she 100% delivered on the quality. She also hemmed all three and replaced the zipper in my reception dress. It looks much better. The only thing lacking was the quality of the replacement bust cups she sewed into my dress. They are much too large, but that was my mistake. I should have specified less padding. The place is very confusing to find. I always park in the busy shopping center and walk upstairs. You enter a tunnel and take the cement stairs into the office building. She's at the end of the hall. Sadly, I've moved away from the area so will probably not be returning. But we'll see. She did such great work and was so fair about pricing, I just might make the long trip! Definitely recommend. read more

Absolutely recommend! I bought a dress last-minute to wear for a wedding. It was way too small, but being on sale, I thought I'd see if a tailor could fix it with a corset. She right away knew what to do and explained the process, without having to use a corset, which is a huge plus. While I still don't know how she did it, the dress is perfect. It fits like a glove, yet the dress looks the exact same with no signs of alteration. Re payment, I paid half up front and then paid the rest after I received the final product. It was expensive to alter, but that would be the case regardless of which tailor I was using because the alteration wasn't easy and I needed it in 5 days. Also, getting to her place was easy once I read the reviews. To make it easier, you could park upstairs. The entrance is behind the strip mall. You will not be disappointed! read more

I am so thrilled to have found Truc! I came to her because of her awesome Yelp reviews, with a costume project I had started myself, and then realized was totally beyond my sewing abilities. I brought all the pieces, and my ideas, to Truc and she turned them into an amazing faux-fur cape. The price was fair, she turned it around quickly, and the quality of the work is great. So great that I immediately brought my husband in so she could make a cape for him, which is also beautiful. I'm excited to come back again as soon as I've come up with my next project/desire! One note: her store is in the 2nd story of the shopping complex at New Hampshire Ave & University (on the corner with the new transit hub.) There's a little tunnel from the front of the complex through to a staircase in back, and then she's down a hall from there.
