I found this business on Yelp. I need a really good tailor and received a few pieces from my favorite Nigerian designer. My problem is that I'm short lol. So I took them to him and he was very welcoming. His shop was clean and he immediately addressed me when I walked in. These pants and skirt were sooooo long. He knew exactly what I needed, I paid him and set a time for pickup! The onlyyyyyyy downsides that I have is the cost was much more expensive that I'm used to ($185) for just hemming and pickup was a month out. When I arrived for my appointment, he had forgotten about it and asked me to come back later. When I arrived later, he was finishing up the hem on my pants. I was ok with that buttttttt I felt as if he could do my pants on the spot there was no need for it to have taken a month. But hey...the work was great so no complaints! read more

Went here to get my wedding dress tailored. First, the business is on a second floor. To get to it, you have to go through a set of stairs at the street entrance. There is always a different man hanging out in the entrance. The men always seem to be in some kind of mental health crisis. It didn't feel safe. Second, I was very disappointed with the quality of the tailoring. The fabric was puckering throughout, there was a tear in the back of the dress, he forgot to add a bustle button (and seemed unfamiliar with anything but the basic bustle style), and he took our internal hooks for the straps even though I'd asked him to keep them. I recommend you look elsewhere, especially because the pricing is too expensive for the low quality work. read more

Sisay is AMAZING. I had a very high-quality, special occasion dress that was too tight, without much to let out. However, Sisay suggested a slight reconstruction around the seam that eventually made the dress a perfect fit! Not only was Sisay's work outstanding, he took time to come up with a solution to a seemingly impossible barrier. He was patient, professional, creative and highly skilled. I will definitely be returning to Sisay for future tailoring needs. I cannot wait to wear my dress! read more

Sisay Design and Tailoring - Sisay altered this dress for a very special gala. Loved it - Sewing & Alterations Near Me - Silver Spring, Maryland

Horrible customer service. The way he treats his customers is very rude, and unprofessional. Take your dollar elsewhere where you dont feel like the tailor is giving you charity. I wouldn't recommend it. read more

Sisay does wonderful work. He advised me on the perfect fit for my new suit and tailored it accordingly (hemmed the pants and shortening the jacket sleeves) and fine-tuned 4 dress shirts in a timely manner. The adjustment to the suit jacket required expert work due to existing button-holes on the sleeves--and Sissay came through! Great work and completed exactly on schedule. To top it off, Sissay is friendly and a great conversationalist. I'll be returning for additional tailoring needs and recommending him to friends and family. read more

Need to make an appointment on his website to confirm the task can be completed by the time you need it. Though I went without an appointment, Sisay accommodated me with grace and professional courtesy. My alteration was done on time and am highly pleased with his work. Now I know where to go when I need alteration done on a timely manner. read more

I found Sisay online and I was pleasantly surprised. He is very personable, friendly and professional. It's obvious he loves what he does. He tailored several suits for me as well as took in a number of other outfits. When he finishes, your clothing looks like it was made just for you. I definitely rate his work 5 stars and have returned a second time already. I highly recommend him if you need a tailor. read more

I had my a bridesmaid dress shortened since it rad extremely long. I dropped off the dress a week and a half before the wedding and it was ready in no time. I was a bit skeptical about the short time frame but I am so glad I brought the dress here. read more

Best tailor in the Silver Spring area! No matter what I bring to Sisay, he always does a great job and makes sure my clothes have the perfect fit. Highly recommend him for suits, jeans, and even casual clothes like tracksuits or varsity jackets. read more

I rarely ever do reviews, but I couldn't not leave one for Sisay. People are not exaggerating when they say he is the best in the Silver Spring area. He is prompt, professional, and extremely skilled. Sisay was able to turn a frumpy suit into a masterpiece in less than two weeks and did it all with a smile. Please see attached before and after photos. He also has an amazing personality -- we literally laughed the whole time I was there for my appointment. Amazing, skillful, hardworking tailor who deserves anyone's business. read more

I purchased a suit from the thrift store and needed the pants tailored to a more modern fit. I found Sisay through the amazing reviews on Yelp and I came right over. I requested the same day service and he began working on the pants immediately. He was very interactive with the tailoring process and completed them while I waited. New customers came in while I waited and he was able to be hospitable to them all the while working on my pants. I will definitely be coming back again. read more

My beautiful wedding dress had 6 holes in it after a night of celebrating and dancing. I was really nervous it could not be fixed but Sisay did an amazing job, every single hole was repaired and you could not tell it had any issues before. It was absolutely perfection! I also took in a pair of jeans and had 6 inches cut off with original bottom hemming which looks completely original, no seems showing at all. My mother had 6 dresses altered and they were exactly how she envisioned! Sisay is honest, kind, and does amazing work. 10 stars! I will be back for a dress alteration soon! read more

Sisay is fantastic! He is personable, clearly has a love for designing clothing, and is an incredible tailor. On top of all that, his prices are half what other wedding tailors charge! He altered two wedding dresses for me, one a modern Chinese wedding dress. The Chinese wedding dress had looked like a bag on me, but Sisay shortened the length and brought in the sleeves and waist, even adding darts to give the dress shape. For the other dress, Sisay shortened the back panels and salvaged a hem that another tailor had cut poorly. Both dresses fit perfectly when I picked them up, and the tailoring was flawless. Thanks so much for helping me look spectacular on my big day, Sisay, and best of luck with your design competitions! read more

First visit wasn't anything major. I had broken zipper on jacket pocket. Sisay had great idea how to fix and took a few minutes. He didn't charge me, and I appreciate that he was simply being kind to a potential future customer. He has many garments hanging at the location, excellent examples of his quality work. I will definitely consider Sisay for any future sewing or garment repair needs. Thank you! read more

I brought my son's North face jacket in because the zipper was broken and although North face has a lifetime guarantee on their products it would have taken 6 weeks to 2 months for the coat to be repaired. I had the coat back in one week and the zipper was replaced with one that works much better than anything North face would have done I am sure. Sisay does incredible work. The seam where the zipper was replaced was so perfect it would be impossible to tell it had be replaced. I highly recommend Mr. Sisay. His work is of the highest quality and he is a pleasure to deal with. The price he charged was very reasonable. read more

Sisay provides excellent service in a timely manner. I had a pair of pants hemmed and a jacket's sleeves shortened. I mentioned to him that I would like a quick turnaround to ensure they fit before an event - Sisay called me a few day before I expected to receive the items to tell me they were done. The quality of his work is well above par. Definitely one of the best place to get alterations done in the area. read more
