There is a hidden gem in Rockville and I discovered it today. I was going to take a jacket I bought online back to the store. Then, I decided to see if I could have it altered. I went to B Tailor Shop. Located right next to Duck Donuts, they are wonderful. Mrs. Kim was such a delight. She took a look at the jacket and gave me her advise. Then, she asked me when I wanted the jacket back. I asked for Friday and she said that if I had a few minutes wait, she would do it for me now. I was thrilled. She did an excellent job! I was inspired to write this review due to another review mentioning poor treatment. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I came into this shop with a leather skirt that needed to be taken in. I placed it on the counter and asked if she could-- (nothing because I was cut off). I continued on asking if there was anything she could do and she rudely and curtly told me flat out no.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]She made me feel embarrassed, like I shouldn't have even asked. Happy with this tailor shop! Seems like the shop is Korean owned. Took a chance because I needed a wedding dress shortened and had 3 weeks to get it done. At first walking in, I wasn't greeted with the happiest hello! But that's ok. The lady came out to help me and had a direct way about her, which again is okay. I went to try the dress on and stepped up on their platform for her to see. Do not forgot the shoes you plan to wear with the dress so accurate measurements can be taken!! The dress had many layers, she had to charge me extra because of the extra material needed to take off. It ended up being about $100. She used this chalk contraption to make a line around the bottom so she knew where to cut. She suggested a button for the bust area which I appreciate! Would not want a slip! Since I had time she asked if it were okay to take 2 weeks to complete and that was completely fine with me. I came back with the scheduled time and the dress looked great! I was hoping I would write nothing but glowing reviews about this place but after being treated in such a negative way I can't. I'm writing this review in hopes the tailor can reflect on how she treats people who may not look like her...or she may deem are not as good as her. I went it to ask to get measurements for a dress being sewn abroad (in Africa) for a wedding. I also asked to have a shirt of sentimental value to me repair at the elbows after many years of wear. She flat out refused. She also said she only does measurements for men's suits. She wouldn't try to work with me or help me. I was willing to pay for the measurements but I was dismissed in such a negative manner it was incredibly hurtful and embarrassing. I will never return nor recommend this tailor to anyone read more

I wasn't overly impressed with B Shop Tailor. I stopped in with two pieces that needed to be addressed. A simple dress that had ripped at the seam and a skirt that needed to be taken in. I was very impressed with the fact that the woman working was able to assist me right away and listed to all of my concerns. However; there's no prices advertised anywhere. You don't find out how much your alterations will be until after everything has been pinned. Honestly, it made me feel obligated to have everything done there despite the prices being higher than my go to shop. Fixing the rip was $15 and the skirt was $20, I'll be honest, the skirt and the dress were originally less than the price to fix them. I literally could've bought the prices again for less than it costs to fix them. The alterations were done quickly was again I was impressive.... but when they say they open at 9 and no one shows up until 9:15 I was no longer impressed. The next day the dress ripped exactly where they had fixed it. I don't want to blame the tailor because clearly I bought the dress on clearance for $15 and the fabric could've been crappy but it didn't leave me feeling confident in the shop. I don't think I'll be back. I was in a pinch and stopped in but will go to my go to person next time. I went to her shop she did not even greet us but as soon she as I tried on my dress she told me to just come in another day before even telling her what I wanted. When I tried on the dress she was assumed the fixes were going to be too expensive for me. definitely do not recommend do not know what her problem was we had a feeling it was racist because I just don't know why else she would make that assumption. read more

They did a fantastic job altering expensive DSquared jeans. She had to take a significant amount of material from the waste and re-stitch a new seam. I don't know how she did it, but it looks like the jeans were never altered. All of the seams match perfectly like they were created like this originally. Very happy. I am new to the area, and desperately needed some work done. Finding a skilled tailor is one of the most challenging things when you relocate. Well that, and locating a good pizza joint. But that's a review for another day. Before taking more complex items in, I took in a pair of trousers that needed heamed. While a seemingly easy task, I've had issues with prior tailors messing this up. From sloppy stitching, to each leg a different length and even "cheap (?)" thread being used that unravels within a wearing or two. Unreal, I agree. When I arrived, a very polite lady (Sandra?) greeted me, directed me where to change and the visit began...from soliciting my input into length and break, the trousers were pinned and the wait began. A week later... presto. Perfect job. Right in length and break. Very slight, if you're curious. Back I ventured with two vest from Cordings of Piccadilly. These, if you know them, run very "generous" in the body, but fairly true to fit in the chest. Unless you have a portly build, there is a lot of fabric left and even cinching the keeper in the back, they look like you're wearing your dads clothes. Know what I mean? This time, the lady defered to the gentleman (Kong?), working in the back. He was professional, spending a great deal of time pin fitting the sides so the fit was slimming, symmetric but not restrictive. The work would, in essence, require a far higher degree of skill vs. what you would commonly find at your local dry cleaner. A week later, and 3 days before Christmas, in I went. Guess what? Come on... guess. Ok, fine... they were perfect. They fit as a tailor garment is expected to fit. My conclusion, these people are the real deal! I would not hesitate to take them anything needing to be altered. read more

Short version: This place is a great place to go for tailoring. I walked in and was measured by Sandra very quickly. To be honest, it took longer to put on and take off my suit than it did for her to measure me and talk about price. Long version: First off, I'd like to really thank Kong and Sandra for their work. I have never been to a tailor before and I'm also not very knowledgeable on how a suit should look on me. I asked Ms. Sandra a lot of question about how long my pants and suit jacket should be and she answered all of my questions while taking my measurements. I also wasn't familiar with how long the process would take so I naively asked if the tailoring could be done by tomorrow because I needed the suit for an event. Ms. Sandra explained to me that it usually takes a week to have it done, but she was very understanding and told me that she would get it done in a day. Which to be honest, I was so grateful that she could do that for me. I haven't seen the end product yet, but I'm confident that the work will be professional. I'm so excited to pick up my suit tomorrow! Bottom line: Best place to go to for tailoring. I'll definitely be coming back here from now on for anything I need done. *edit So I picked up my suit a day after I wrote this review and had a great conversation about tailoring with Sandra. I've been going to this shop for years, and it's top-notch tailoring from a family run operation. The prices are reasonable given the expert craftsmanship at the shop, and they won't jerk you around with their estimates of how long it will take. There's not a whole lot of English communication to be done, but they'll figure out what you want, and do it right the first time. On many occasions, I've had off the rack sloppy suits transformed into dapper ensembles by the fine folks at B. Love this place. Took in 4 pairs of pants to shorten the hem, $16 dollars each. Did a good job and would come back again. The owners are very nice and finish altering garments in a timely manner. Usually, if you don't need it ASAP, they finish within a week. But if you need something done the day of, try to get there in the morning and they'll finish it by closing time with no extra charge. I once brought in a suit jacket and she fixed the shoulder pads, shortened the sleeve length and jacket length all within one day with no extra fee. If you need something done fast, I suggest you come here. Also, she once shortened the length of my suit jacket but when I took it hone and realized that it was still too long, I went back and she agreed to shorten it even further, with no extra cost. This business advertised "bring us your tricky cases!" "If you've gained weight recently don't buy a new wardrobe, we can alter your clothes!" Believing that, I brought over a bag of old dresses that I'd love to wear again only to be told "oh we can't do this." Which made me quite annoyed at having wasted the gas to come here. I brought my wedding dress here to get tailored after a bad tailoring experience at David's Bridal. It was a few weeks before my wedding so I was a ball of nerves and Sun put me at ease in their small, low key shop. She spent a lot of time with me helping figure out how to get the dress to fit correctly and what my options were. She kept encouraging me to go back to David's Bridal and get them to fix what they had done but at that point I felt okay to spend a bit more to get it done right. would truly never go here ever again. it was recommend to me and i needed to add length to a dress for my sisters wedding in less than 2 weeks. instead of telling me that they can help me, the owner spent 25 minutes convincing me that i needed another dress and this dress doesn't look good on me. she started to pull other customers dresses and tell me that i would look better in something like one of those dresses. on top of that, one of her other customers started telling me what was wrong with my dress. it turned into complete body shaming rather than tailoring. i then proceeded to tell her that i cannot buy another dress because i have spent thousands of dollars looking for dresses and she replied "it's not about the money" ??? avoid this place at all costs. everyone i have told this to is disgusted. I ended up taking my dress elsewhere and they took care of my needs no questions or body shaming involved. I can't express enough how amazing Sandra and her work is. Seriously, I cried and my mother cried when I got my dress back. I had ordered a bridesmaid dress that came in 6 sizes too small in the bust. Sandra took on the impossible and worked her magic, adding in side panels that look like they were meant to be there all along. I honestly didn't think it was possible to fix this dress and my mom was already trying to figure out what we were going to do. It was truly amazing.
