Gordon is so good! From the first time I met with him, he took great care of me and my hair. He tested it to make sure it was healthy to do anything before he made his suggestions. He worked with me to come up with a great style and color. Even when I went PINK he did an amazing job! I LOVED! He's very easy to talk to and makes sitting in the chair a nice place to be so it's like visiting at a friends house, but now you get your hair done too! I'm spoiled and won't go to anyone else. I trust Gordon completely with my hair. The receptionist Alexis is so great too! Always greets me with a smile and calls me by my first name. I love her! I needed a blowout for a wedding and usually have a few trusted people I book with, but because of the holiday weekend and limited availability everywhere, I decided to give this salon a try after reading the reviews. The salon itself was nice and the staff seemed friendly. At first, everything seemed fine, and I clearly explained how I wanted my hair styled. I have a short bob that can be styled in a lot of different ways. When my stylist parted my hair down the middle, I got a little nervous but hoped it would turn out okay. The entire service was done with just a round brush and blow dryer. When she finished, I was honestly disappointed and told her so. The style made me feel like I looked like a little boy, and I said I could have achieved the same result myself at home. She responded by saying that's just how my hair responds, but I disagreed because I've had my hair styled many times before and know what it's capable of. (Basically I called BS) I even offered to show photos of previous blowouts I've loved. What I asked for was simple, some volume with a slightly sleek finish. I also mentioned that my hair can be parted in different ways. At one point she suggested curling it, but after later looking at the salon's website, I noticed they charge extra for flat iron or curling iron work, which may explain why it wasn't initially offered. To her credit, she did try to fix it, and it looked better, but overall I still wasn't very happy with the experience. I paid, tipped, and moved on, but for $45, I personally didn't feel it was worth it. Unfortunately, I wouldn't return. read more

Amazing hair stylists. I go to Gabby and she is my favorite plus Aveda products never dissapoint!

Easily the best salon Iv been to. Skyler gave me one of, if not the best haircut Iv ever had. She listened and worked with me so well. The salon itself as a very welcoming and friendly environment. Very organized and clean. If I could give Tru on Park six stars I would! read more

Tru on Park has been my go-to salon for years! Love the vibe, Aveda products and staff but the main reason is Lizzy. She is an amazing human being, colorist magician and my part time therapist. Lizzy also takes the time to understand my vision during consultation and isn't afraid to speak up or redirect if needed. I trust her implicitly and would highly recommend Lizzy or any of the Tru on Park stylists! read more

My name is Nan Rose. I use a walker 100% of the time. When I mentioned that to the receptionist, she said "just holler and someone will come and get you." However, that wasn't a satisfactory answer to my question. I need to know someone will be there. And what about the winter? I desperately want to come to you. But I'm so reluctant about the stairs. Can you help me Lauren? I'm going to skip this round and I would love to come next time I'm due. Nan Rose (585)281-3773 Thanks read more

This was my first visit and Gabriella gave me not only the cut i showed but actually improved on it! I am beyond happy and will be a regular from now on. Not only talented, gabriella was also kind and awesome to just hang out with. Thank you! read more

I love Tru on Park. Rachel helped me plan my wedding hair all the way from Texas. When I flew home to Rochester with only 3 days until my wedding she was very accommodating with my tight timeframe. She colored my hair and did voMor extensions. She did an awesome job and I was so happy with how my wedding hair turned out. I ended up moving back to Rochester, NY in 2022 and Rachel has been doing my hair since. She is great at hearing/understanding what I want and helping me by making recommendations for me. My hair always looks amazing when I leave Tru. All the other stylists/staff I've interacted with here are so friendly and welcoming. read more

I got the best haircut I think I've ever had in my 65-year lifetime at Tru on Park. Not only is their online appointment system seamless, but everyone was very kind and helpful. I was not pressured to buy product (though I did because they smell so wonderful) and Lisa listened carefully to what I wanted, made helpful suggestions and showed real expertise on my cut. I think this is an outstanding salon, not pretentious, totally professional and comfortable. Clean, lovely decor and I just can't ask for anything more in a haircare spot. read more

This salon is hands down the best I've ever been to. I get my hair cut by Liz and Liz only. She creates such a chill, down-to-earth, and real atmosphere. She is honest about her skills and tells great stories, on top of always just naturally making me look better than I did when I walked in. Liz and the rest of the welcoming staff at Tru On Park will be the place I get my haircut until I move out of the Greater Rochester area. Thank you guys! read more

Seriously so incredibly happy with my haircut today by Laura. She is beyond sweet and personable, and she is seriously a hair guru. I am feeling so lucky to have met her. I have been to so many different stylists in California, and now I will wait to see Laura whenever I am back in Rochester because is she seriously the best stylist hands down. A cute and cozy salon with a surprisingly large space and all the workers are so welcoming! read more

I unfortunately list my long term stylist, as she moved back home to San Diego, so I was having trouble connect to the stylist. And then I met Lisa at Tru on Park. I have a pixie cut that gets boring. Lisa ALWAYS knows what I want, and she executesz it to perfection. Lisa is above all is talented.....and KIND.. You will not be disappointed if you schedule with her! read more

I got a total transformation from Gordon. He was very considerate and gentle and my hair turned out beautiful. I highly recommend him!

This is the first time I've ever written a review but oh my gosh, I seriously cannot say enough good things about this place!! I was looking for a new stylist and decided to come to tru on park because I had heard good things. From the start the service was awesome. They offered me a drink (seltzer, water, tea) and made me feel really welcome. Also great vibes with the music. Gabriella was my stylist and she immediately made me feel comfortable. I really wanted to try something new but was nervous because I have naturally curly hair. We worked together to find a style that would accentuate my curls and she totally rocked it. AND it looks good blown out too. I get compliments all the time and I'm absolutely in love with the cut. I feel like my curls have never looked better. If you're considering a new place to go, definitely go to tru on park! read more

One day my son and I were walking down Park Ave, post lunch, and I saw this cool looking Aveda salon. I had just moved back to the area (for a bit) and very much needed a hair cut and color. Well, from the first moment I reached out via Yelp to the moment I walked out the door post appt it was a lovely experience! I appreciated the communication and the follow up, and Gabby was simply wonderful, even giving me some great recommendations for food in the area. I adore tru on park and highly recommend! read more

Just had my haircut at Tru on Park for the first time and I am THRILLED with the results. Gabriella was my stylist and I am beyond impressed with her professionalism, knowledge, and artistry. She took an immense amount of time with me prior to the cut, assessing my needs and concerns. (I am woman in mid-life and losing hair - yikes!) I walked in feeling a bit worn out and walked out feeling like a million bucks. The cut is technically perfect and I LOVE IT. Thank you, Gabriella. I will be back! read more

My experience at Tru on Park was the best salon experience I have ever had. I am always nervous about cutting my hair as it is very long and I like to keep it on the longer side. Often stylists cut way too much off. My stylist, Taryn, was excellent and clearly enjoyed the work she was doing. I felt comfortable there and everyone was friendly. read more

It's always difficult to entrust your hair to a new stylist, but after a couple of months of apprehensive searching, I happened upon Tru On Park. This is a wonderful salon, and Rachel was a phenomenal master stylist. She was attentive to my requests and an expert in her craft. Loved the final cut and color. read more

I don't take care of my hair as much as I should, but getting it cut by Gabriella is probably the best thing i've ever done for it. Came in with bleach damaged grungy hair and walked out with a beautiful shag that made my hair feel healthy for weeks. 6/5 stars if I could read more

Clean and pretty. I personally don't like the Park Ave area due to the parking situation and this place was no different. Had to call to get in once I walked there from the lot and get my temperature taken. Then had to wait 20 minutes -- and I'm not counting my 5-10 minutes of getting there early of course. I forgot who my hair stylist was, she was nice, but after I told her what I wanted, she just said okay and cut the final product (no stopping and checking if the length was good etc). The length ended up fine but I did not want it to be styled in a bob Karen-like fashion. I would've been able to say no if she asked but I didn't have the heart to stop her once I discovered what she was doing. She also got me to buy a keratin treatment promotion thing that was going on; it went by quick and made my hair very smooth for that day but it didn't last long. It wasn't worth it in my opinion, however she did mention it's something to keep up with (doing it every so often), so that could be it. Overall, I have no harsh regrets, but I probably won't be returning either. read more

Went there today for the first time for a hair cut. I had grown my hair out for a year so I could get this style that I wanted. Showed the girl a picture and everything and she cut it nothing like it. She cut it about two inches too short too. I told her I didn't like it and that it didn't look anything like the picture, so she called someone over to fix it. Not once did they apologize or seem apologetic for the bad hair cut. It looked better the second time, but I ended up buying over priced products from them, something I usually never do, that came out to over $50, just so I could have something to fix the mess they made of my hair. I was even gracious enough to leave them a nice tip. No thanks from them or anything. I highly doubt I'll be returning. read more

Great service. They were so patient with my 3 year old. Felt very safe while at the salon.

I recently moved to Rochester and in need of a salon, i found tru on park through yelp and booked an appointment with Miranda. She was so lovely and professional and i got a trim exactly how I asked. With new policies, my temperature was checked outside prior to entering and I had to fill out a liability waiver. The place was so clean and everything was sanitized. I will be definitely coming back for all my hair needs! read more

I got Gabriella today, and she was the sweetest person on earth! She's been in hair for 15 years, and it shows with her skillset. She didn't sell me a look, she genuinely cared about the health of my hair! Love the cut she gave, and she really listened to all of my fears and complaints. Besides the place being superbly beautiful and calming, everyone was warm. Glad I dropped by today. read more

I recently moved to Rochester and needed a new salon. I looked at lot of places and reviews and decided to try tru since I could book online and the reviews were great. Excellent choice! I was booked with Kenna, who couldn't be more fun and lovely. She gave me a great wash, cut, and style. We talked about color options for my next visit and I'm really looking forward to it. Great people, atmosphere, and prices. read more

Just updating to include the name of the stylist. It's Taryn. She's fantastic! I've kept coming back, and I don't see myself changing salons any time soon. No complaints here, and I recommend Tru frequently to anyone who will listen. read more

Tru on park is consistently great! The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable of hair. I also love Aveda products, which is the first reason I chose to start going to Tru. I have worked with Katie who gave me the heart cut of my dreams, she knew exactly what I was looking for and was so nice. I also worked with Erica who was an absolute darling and took me in on a short notice when I couldn't bear to look at my hair anymore. She was total understood my needs and also knew exactly what I was asking for. The salon is cute and clean, and Aveda Products make the whole place smell lovely. read more

W hat a wonderful salon. Every person working there is so warm and welcoming, attentive and anxious to please. Colleen has cut my hair several times and today she added the red color that I have been missing as I awaited old color to grow out. She is a gem, so warm and anxious to make everything comfortable and pleasant. I was asked several times if I was comfortable, wanted more water, and so on. Do call for an appointment, you will not regret it. There are several steps up to the door with railings and the seats are comfortable in the waiting area and padded, not hard seats. The atmosphere is pleasant and appealing, read more

I had my appointment at Tru last week and I always feel like a valued customer. It is impeccable clean and updated atmosphere to spend the time getting my hair colored and cut. I came for a haircut a few days ago and they did an okay job. My hairstylist wasn't the most personable and seemed to be annoyed with my presence, but I'm sure she was just doing the best she could and maybe I caught her on an off day? However, they are doing a great job with COVID restrictions and I felt comfortable in that regard. If a friendly and amiable experience is a priority for you though, this might not be the place for you. read more

I have gotten my hair done by the same person for six or seven years (located in a different place) but I needed my hair done for a big event and I didn't have time to get home, so I booked an appointment at Tru in Park. I was so nervous because I know how I want my hair to look and the woman who does my hair at home always gets it right. After explaining to Miranda what I wanted, she took it in stride and exceeded my expectations!!! I've gotten so many compliments over the last couple of days and I couldn't be happier with how my hair turned out. read more

I have been searching for a place to get my haircut since I moved here. I was hopeful about tru, and they were able to fit me in for a last minute appointment! Gordon gave me an AWESOME haircut - exactly what I wanted. Left feeling happy and taken care of. However, the style I got required maintenance, and I was thrilled to see online there was complimentary "bang trim". I went back, got my bangs trimmed (beautifully), but then was charged $10 at the end of the appointment. When I asked "but your website says it's free?" the receptionist said "yeahhh ... well we have to charge you anyways." I felt very confused and also frustrated (but still paid). Left me with a bad taste. read more

I went here when I first moved into town and used Liz. She was wonderful!! I went from hair down my back to cut above my shoulders. Liz did a fantastic job, the price was great, and I will definitely be returning. I even sent my BF there to use Liz and he was very satisfied too. read more

Yesterday was my first appointment with Tru Salon on Park. I called that day to see if they had any openings, and it was just my luck that they did. They also take walk-in's, but I wanted to call ahead of time to be sure. I was set up with the stylist Colleen, and she was amazing! She gave me such an excellent short asymmetrical haircut - exactly what I wanted - and I am so happy with it! Since it is an Aveda salon, they also give a complimentary scalp massage before your cut. Their products are top notch, and I definitely left with my hair looking and feeling so much healthier. I'm so happy to have finally found a salon in Rochester! I will definitely be coming back for future appointments. :) read more
