What a serendipitous find! I stumbled upon this place by chance and was able to book an appointment within 24 hours. I tried to get an appointment for a massage and lip/brow wax but due to COVID, only the brow wax was available. Michelle is the person who did my brows and she did a fantastic job! this place is AMAZING. My Brazilian was practically pain less (and I usually have a low tolerance for pain!). The staff was super nice and friendly and made me feel super comfortable. I immediately felt at ease. Not your typical "spa" because it is an office in a house. It is relatively small, but I don't think that hinders the "spa" experience at all, and I liked how quaint it felt. They have a small selection of items in the front for purchase and two rooms for waxing. Christina has created the finest spa experience you will ever have. I first went to her for waxing some four or five years ago. She made me feel at ease immediately. Now I see her regularly. I try to get there early so I can relax before my appointment. As soon as I walk in, someone on her staff gives me a hot towel to wash the day away. Fantastic salon! I came from out of town and hadn't been to a salon in months. I was very impressed by the relaxing, clean setup throughout the salon. Michelle did my wax and made me feel very at ease throughout the appointment (very important, especially with sensitive parts!). My eyebrows came out looking great and I wasn't left with much pain following the Brazilian. Sarah took over for the pedicure. Her setup is lovely with a vibrating, heated chair. LOVED my "waterless pedicure" which Sarah is thinking of renaming a "foot facial" (and I think she hits the nail on the head with that description). After your traditional check-in with a warm towel that is soaked in some type of fragrant oil, Sarah escorts you to the Foot Sanctuary and seats you in the heavenly Zero Gravity Chair. As I've mentioned before, this is a massaging, heated chair, that reclines back to the point you find yourself without a care in the world. Then, Sarah takes care of your tootsies to remove any old polish, gives your cuticles some love, does a masque for your feet & legs, followed by hot towels, then finishing with the most delicious smelling lotion you've ever smelled ... polishes your nails ... and then tips you back to zero-gravity with a heated eye mask -- and it's all just pure sensory joy! If you've been wondering "why would I get my nails done at Skintopia when I'm already loyal to XYZ place," then please give Sarah a try. It's all of those amazing touches and the Zero Gravity Chair that set Sarah & Skintopia apart. They offer make-up in a little nook away from the spa area, which is nice because the spa area is so calming. Nicole did my facial and she was fantastic! I got my first ever Brazilian done here today with Christina, and it was amazing -- not the wax (that was painful) but the service. I walked into Skintopia a bundle of nerves, but was greeted by Sarah, who was so sweet, and I felt right at home. Christina is amazing. She makes a very sensitive wax, totally worth it and comfortable. She's so sweet and has this genuine, calm, pleasant aura about her. You really feel like she connects with you, makes you feel at home. The wax itself definitely hurts, I've heard the first time is the worst. I can't say enough about what a good experience I had at Skintopia. Christina is a sweet, genuine girl and immediately put me at ease when I came in for a bikini wax. She was patient with figuring out what I've been used to and helping me to feel understood. I recently moved from LA where I was used to a 15-20 minute ripping festival that yielded just ok results. Sometimes we left with a lopsided look, but I stuck with my usual place because my sensitive skin did well with the wax and technique they used. Trying a new place feels like a big deal to me as I have also had one very negative experience in the past (read: scarring) so I was a little anxious at first. Anyway, I digress. Christina was very kind and sensitive about my preferences and totally chill to talk to. I felt like we had real pleasant conversation as opposed to fake small talk that we've all been a part of during waxing. She didn't even need to carry on with the usual distracting conversation as this was definitely the least painful wax I've ever had, and I've had lots. The best part: 36 hours later my fair super sensitive skin looked almost totally normal, which NEVER HAPPENS. Bottom line: This girl knows what she's doing, takes the time to understand what you want and to be careful and thorough while being genuine, friendly, and really mellow to deal with. I will preface this with I have never gone for a massage before and I am a visitor to Rochester. My neck was really bothering me (I have a couple weeks before my next chiropractic appointment) and my sister suggested I try Skintopia. She is a regular at Skintopia and said she would check to see if there was an opening. The staff was able to fit me in and did a GREAT job communicating with me (text, e-mail, and telephone) about my appointment times and confirmations. When I arrived, I was greeted by Kim with a warm towel and paperwork. Cora was my masseuse and came out soon after to bring me back. Again the issue was my neck so I only went for a 30 minute massage. Cora focused on the trapezius muscle which was extremely tight and causing me my issues. After the massage, Cora placed hot towels across my back and covered me up again to relax a bit before leaving. My first massage experience was SUPERB! I highly recommend Skintopia and Cora! Very lovely place; calming and inviting. I found this place on Yelp when I was looking for a Brazilian wax in Rochester. I normally get my waxes done in NYC at European Wax Center, but I wasn't able to get down there anytime soon. It was super easy to book an appointment; I did it through Yelp and found a same-day appointment with Juli. Upon arrival, the receptionist, Sarah, greeted me and had me fill out a consent and new customer form. Then Juli introduced herself and gave me a hot towel while we waited for a room to open up. The wax itself was fairly painless, given that it was a Brazilian and they are never fun. We had a good conversation which eased my mind off the wax itself. It wasn't the quickest one I've had (I've been waxing for a while now and have tried several different places in NYC), but it was a good experience overall. Juli was very friendly and easygoing and made the process enjoyable. I had a slight allergic reaction at first to the wax they used (I have very sensitive skin, so I'm not too surprised), but Juli put some Vaseline on it to calm it down. It's been several hours now and the redness and irritation have reduced considerably. I would love to come back here to try out their other services like massages; I love the atmosphere. read more
