Troy cafe is an amazing place, it's stands out among the other restaurants in the Dalry area because of its wooden exterior and it stands out also because of the quality of food they serve, I recommend the beef burger, very tasty and I've heard breakfast is outstanding too. The staff here are also lovely, friendly and accommodating. 5* food and service 5* atmosphere. 5* cafe/restaurant.

Look at this inside. Beautiful!!

Troy cafe-bistro 18-20 Dalry rd Eh11 2ba Free deliver 0792 187 4443 troyganic@gmail.com A wonderful surprise. Tremendous wee place. Coffee gorgeous. More over the service and ambiance. So much care. The buffet is stunning. Fresh and bright. The owner is on hand a sweet gentleman. The waitress thinks laterally and is incredibly astute. She sincere and thought up a way to give what I was wanting. A wee nibble as I'm just waiting on my friend arriving at haymarket train station. I asked for a coffee and then was drawn to look at the beautiful food. I asked a croissant? Waitress put forward and idea!! A tiny amount and pay £3.50 instead of the £6.50 buffet eat in or £5 take out. Brilliant is location. I've seen the location change names and owner a fair few time over last 20 years. This Turkish themed place I feel can do really really well. Was never drawn to enter the others. I feel like I'm in Turkey the way the cooks and owner are talking in Turkish organising the buffet. Can't tell you how impressed I am. The radio station is fab. Normal not keen but it all seems to fit. Volume perfect. Can't wait to come again. 5 stars! Sincerely. Ps. So clean in here. Spotless. I think this waitress is fab. She sweeps and keeps busy topping up and checking stuff. So approachable and calm.

Has good reviews but our experience was half good and half quite disappointing. Surprised to find that reservations were expected but that's my mistake for not checking. But they were able to seat us right away. Service was prefunctory. Menu with a nice selection of dish options. My DW loves Bun so that was her choice even before arrival. She chose the noodle with grilled meat option. I was looking for something with seafood and chose the stir fried noodles with mixed vegetables and seafood. My first clue we might have some disappointment was the speed that the food came out. It was literally not even five minutes before two entrees were served. Hmmmm. The Bun turned out to be just fine and she enjoyed it very much. Mine on the other hand had way undercooked vegetables, including very strong onions, noodles that were not completely hot as well as seafood in the same condition. All the seafood-tiny pink shrimp, mussels, and calamari was pretty clearly pre cooked and just given a quick spin around the pan. The mussels especially were not a pleasant temp for this dish. I ate it without complaint but also without enjoyment. Not sure how they have such high marks but it was not really the case for our meal.

We tried on our first week in Edinburgh and failed, but were able to make reservations 3 weeks out for our last night in Scotland, and we are glad we did. Pork cracklins were a bit hard and crunchy, but everything else was perfect. We had fresh bread and langostinis for starters, along with a smokey whiskey cocktail, the Smoked Indiscretion! For mains we enjoyed the poached Cod, and the Pork with Barley. Service was very good, and wine selection was extensive. Atmosphere was loud with music and locals' chatter in the bar below, but dark tables and heavy wood panels made it a perfect place for a couple celebrating 3 weeks of travel. Highly recommend a visit to the Devil's Advocate, if you can book a table in advance.

But they call these lessons, "character building," apparently. No matter, the Devil's Advocate is worth the search. Located in an old Victorian pump house halfway up (or down) Advocate's Close, the Devil's Advocate is known for a killer whisky shelf of more than 300 different bottles from various distilleries across the Highlands, Lowlands, Speyside, Campbelltown, the Islands, and Islay. I finally sipped on a 15-year Tamdu that has convinced me to keep a bottle at home. Then there's the Clydeside 2024 Limited Edition Cask Strength that was wicked impressive. The bartenders are class at making and serving seasonal and regular cocktails that have their spin and character. My wife enjoyed gin-based cocktails such as the Clean Slate (with St-Germain, citrus, and sugar), Rose Garden (with Yellow Chartreuse, Cocchi Rosa, apple, lemon, and mint), and Bee's Knees (honey and lemon). I went full speed ahead with the scotch cocktails, which are essentially classics with a scotch-substituted twist. The Double Shot is an Espresso Martini with Dalmore 12 in addition to Kahlua, espresso, and demerara -- quite smooth without being too sweet. The Scotzia is a Negroni with Fettercairn 12, while the Boxcar is a Sidecar only with Aberfeldy 12. We enjoyed the bar for a few hours, watching the bartenders make magic while sipping on cocktails, while listening to 80s pop tunes. A great evening indeed.

We chose the latter due to the fact that I'd never heard of this UK chain of Japanese restaurants. I also found the menu to be unique with the dietary-friendly halal, vegetarian, and GF offerings. Not many Japanese restaurants have that. We were welcomed in with the sound of a taiko drum. They tap the drum when entering and before being seated. I found it odd at first, but now I understand after reading about this traditional welcome. The restaurant was filling up fast. We thankfully were seated in a 2 seater booth by the window. It was completely full by the time we left. All the ramen choices looked fantastic. I've never seen such a huge variety of unique flavors. I was drawn to the Shio Yuzu and Shio Truffle. It was a tough decision, but the truffle won that battle. It ended up being a great choice. The truffle really brings out the flavor of the rice in the noodles. Although, these noodles were already pretty special. I think they make them here. There was a good amount of chicken, and that ramen egg was absolutely delicious. A perfectly made custardy yolk. I should have ordered an additional one. My husband's Spicy Chicken Teriyaki with rice was good, but not great. His words, not mine. I didn't try it because I'm not a fan of teriyaki sauce. The chicken gyoza were also pretty good. I was also super happy with the Yuzu Ice Tea from the Mocktail menu. It was very mojito-esque without the rum. A refreshing drink. The service was good. The atmosphere is very lively. I didn't really get a chance to take pictures inside. The décor is lovely, but more enjoyable when it's less crowded. I'd revisit it again if ever in this region. I may have to try their Black Garlic Tonkotsu ramen next time.

There is an outdoor space that sits on the West Bow bend of Grassmarket, but nothing was set up for that when we were there for a late lunch. Perhaps it's a seasonal thing. All first impressions aside, it turned out to be a very good lunch. We were greeted immediately upon entering. We were fortunate to get a table without a reservation. You will definitely need one here during peak times. The service was warm & friendly. Artur was very helpful in answering all of our questions. The lunch menu is limited, but you can also order from the higher priced dinner menu as well. I was mostly amazed by the fact that you get complimentary oysters delivered to your table. My husband is not a seafood fan, so I was fortunate enough to enjoy both of them. These are large & tasty Pacific oysters grown at a farm in Loch Fyne. Delicious! It was such a great starter. I couldn't pass up the half kilo pot (lunch portion) of steamed mussels. These are Scottish rope-grown mussels. I should have ordered a kilo. They were so addicting. The white wine sauce with shallots was perfect. However, I did have a difficult time deciding which sauce to choose. The whisky with smoked bacon also sounded amazing. If I had to say anything negative, it would be to maybe add more bread to soak up the sauce. I probably could have asked for more, but I didn't. That's on me. I really wanted to return to try the Surf & Turf. We just didn't have enough time to do it all. I would go back in a heartbeat. It ended up being a great find. A great experience!
