During the pandemic, this park took the place of some gyms and exercise facilities. Entry on 2 sides---Church Rd and also Union Mill Road. Plenty of parking. Nice gazebos and picnic areas for parties and events. Enjoy the great view over the lake as you walk around. Sometimes they also have remote controlled boat races on the lake. Catch some nature while you're relaxing.

The playground is suitable for all ages with toddler swings/harnesses on one side of the playground and teen/adult swings on the other side. There are 2 different setups right next to each other. One is for older children and the other is for the younger children. The younger setup is arranged like a ship. There are 2 slides attached and some activities. The 2nd setup has multiple slides with multiple levels. The only way to get up to level 3 is by ladder, but the 2 slides on that level are pretty fun. I would say the playground is more for ages 3+, but fun can still be had by all. There are fields all around for football, soccer, or any other sport you can think of. Parking for the playground is limited with about 15 spots, but you can park on the grass all around the playground.

The only time you want to avoid the park is on really hot days midday. The playground isn't at all shaded, so it can get very hot. There is also a pavilion area right next to the playground that is nice for having lunch. There are bathrooms there as well. In the summer, the ice cream truck is almost always there, so either bring cash or prep your kids that you won't be getting ice cream. haha! There are also fields all around the playground where you can walk the path, pull kids in a wagon, or ride on a bike as my kids like to do.

The red and purple trails were my favorite. On my second trip here I wanted to hike for about an hour but I ended up getting lost. Lost in terms of I want to get out but I don't know which way is the exit...I could definitely see the trail markers all throughout though! I recalled seeing a red color marker at the entrance so I followed that but ended up going deeper into the woods. I don't believe the white trail is fully finished as I had to double back a few times. I used google maps to get a sense of where I was but still couldn't make my way to the main road. Went in circles between the blue and green trails (the green trail said it was a 5K, not going to lie I got a bit worried there) but eventually I managed to make my way to Bortons road! and then it was another 30 min walk to my car along kettle run road. So what was supposed to be an hour nice weekend stroll ended up being 2 1/2 hours. Can't complain though, loved exploring!

We decided to explore Black Run Preserve for our first bike trail experience since moving to the area and it didn't disappoint. There are plenty of bike and hiking trails and doing a little research online prior to going I was able to map out which trails would be best for us, specifically since I'm a nervous beginner lol. The trails are color coded and tbe associated color markings are on trees along the trails so you know which trail you're on. There is so much beautiful scenery surrounding you whether you're on bike or foot and there's a real sense of peace and tranquility in the Preserve, Definitely spray yourself down with bug repellent and wear longer pants and tops if it isn't too hot because there are warning signs for ticks and such given it's truly a wooded area. We will be back in the fall for another ride among the beautiful foliage.

The article says "Award winning fully accessible park". That description alone was good enough and I didn't bother looking at the pictures. This park was soooooo nice. They've got an outdoor gym, a softball field, a huge playground, two bocce ball courts, a small picnic area, and a dog park across the parking lot. The facilities were so clean and so well maintained. The bathrooms were better than your average park bathrooms and had motion sensor faucets. I completely appreciate how well this park was designed. The dog park was super spacious and divided into two sections, one for small dogs and one for large large dogs. The place looked clean and was well stocked with poop bags. Overall this is just a great park for everybody.
