Living in Central Jersey, we decided to visit the playground after our trip to the Cherry Hill Mall down in the Southern New Jersey region. Firstly, Fort Medford is unique in style and variety of playground equipment, notably in the wooden castle/fort-like structure that serves as the focal piece of the overall playground. This structure provides several towers/turrets that reach about 7-9 feet high that is accessible through the built in steps. These towers are then mostly connected via wooden walkways or other playground obstacles that bridge the gap between the different towers, which then range from rope to bars that challenges the navigator's balance and dexterity (level of difficulty varies and may not be suitable for toddlers). There are also a variety of slides built in with this structure along with different swing sets available throughout. However, younger children can play in a more modern playground set that is a part of the overall playground area. The area and size of the playground is vast relative to other playgrounds that we have been to, and is comparable in size to the Regatta Playground (by Turtle Back Zoo) in North Jersey. This modern playground set is arguably a little less intimidating when it comes to the height for children and offer similar playground amenities (slides/obstacles). For adult consideration purposes, there is a brick-and-mortar restroom facility as well as a covered pavilion which can be used as a shaded/resting area with tables. Overall, this is a great playground for families to take their children to enjoy.

It's served the purpose well and I'd definitely return and recommend the park. Baseball fields, basketball courts, soccer fields, tennis courts, football fields, hiking trails, and a kids jungle gym. The playground is pretty big with dozens of slides and swings and tons of fun things for kids to climb on and run over! The whole park is kept in great shape in general. You can tell the community really cares about their space here! All in all a very nice park with tons of activities! They also do movie nights in the park in the summer! This park pretty much has everything; playgrounds, open spaces, ball fields, basketball courts, a hiking trail (allegedly...we couldn't find it, but that was most likely our fault,) walking paths, etc, etc. Despite being so large, it's also rather connected, if that makes sense, and you're able to get to everything relatively quickly. The park is more "open" than "large." For example, you can get from one playground to another, without having to take a trek. There is a ton of space, but you're able to traverse the space to navigate the park. There's also plenty of parking. Also, they do drive in movies and stuff here, AND, it's dog friendly, so there aren't too many negatives. The only "downside" I could see is that it got pretty busy, and just being crowd-phobic by nature, it's less than ideal for me. We'll definitely be back early and often.

So, I've been to Red Bank Battlefield numerous times. A few times for group picnics and other times…read morejust to walk along the Delaware waterfront. And each time is simply wonderful. If you want to host an event, you can reserve one of the pavilions to hold a BBQ cookout. There is a kids' play area for the little ones too. There's also a huge open lawn for outdoor activities, although it isn't the best spot because of all the goose droppings. Now, if they got the goose population under control, it would be awesome for football, frisbee, or volleyball. Alternatively, if you want some time to yourself to stroll the walking trail, it's certainly peaceful and serene, with gorgeous views of Philadelphia from the New Jersey side looking out across the Delaware River. Plus, the park has a lot of history, so be sure to take time to appreciate that aspect! PRO TIP: Saturdays are obviously the busiest, with all the group gatherings, so arrive early to find parking. The parking lot tends to fill up quickly during those times.

Really disappointing experience at Red Bank Battlefield. We were loading heavy items and parked…read morebriefly in the area where we've always unloaded for years. My family has been coming here for about 25 years, and we've unloaded heavy things in that same general area many times without issue. Instead of a simple warning or asking us to move, we were immediately given a parking ticket for being on the grass. If the rules have changed or this is now being enforced differently, basic courtesy would be to communicate that first. What made it worse was how the situation was handled. Matt was extremely rude, unprofessional, and unnecessarily confrontational. Longtime visitors shouldn't be treated like that, especially when simply loading/unloading heavy items. Very disappointing experience at a place we've supported and visited for decades.
