We pulled up and parked by the (very nice and clean) playground. Then we walked and talked and took photos on our way to the first bench that we came to. Friendly ducks came right up to us while we were chowing down. We put some lettuce and rice on the ground for them. We then proceeded walk around the beautiful lake, taking many pictures as we went along. Others were walking, running, and fishing. We all were all making the most of this lovely Spring day! What a pleasant one in April :) Definitely coming back to this hidden gem of a park!

The water was pretty with a bunch of lilly pads floating, people were fishing, kids playing on the jungle gym and riding bikes around. There are 4 courts next to each other, fenced in on two sides and fairly well kept. We saw lots of families here and even though it was almost 100 degrees, we had a fantastic time.

Knight's Park is an excellent place for a daily walk, jog, or run, and it consistently feels safe and comfortable to spend time in. It is the kind of space that naturally invites you to slow down and just move a little, whether that means a casual stroll or a more focused workout. Being located right across from a high school adds a familiar, lived-in neighborhood feel. It also brings back personal memories; I used to spend a lot of time here growing up around 8 or 9 years old, either alone or with a friend, just passing time and enjoying the space without much thought. Even now, I still get the occasional urge to go back for a walk, even though I live closer to other parks. That says a lot about how comfortable and pleasant the environment is. It also works surprisingly well for casual social settings, including a low-pressure first date walk where the focus is just conversation and being outside rather than anything overly structured. It is simply a dependable, enjoyable local park that consistently delivers a good experience.

It's a really weird location tho. Way at the back of the Walmart parking lot and none of the other piers are renovated. So your view is distant industrial harbor and homeless folks camped on the other piers. But this Pier 68 itself was peaceful and nice, with plenty of nearby parking. The place is dirty and has a lot of construction work that was being done and needs some work. All of the tables but one was dirty and looks like it hasn't been cleaned for a while. Another thing was because of the construction that was being done around the area, the fishing was hard. There was too many obstacles and structures in the water that my boyfriend got hooked and lost his line twice! They had a broken beaten down wired fence around the area of the pier which made me feel unsafe for kids who are playing around this area. It also made the water look really dirty from all the dirt and gravel from whatever they are building. Not a good fishing place but more like a nice relax picnic place for families to enjoy. I just hope they clean it more frequently.

There were only 5 of us, so plenty of time to climb. Our Guide, Bob, was so patient, engaged and informative. I learned a lot of great things that I had not known before about clothing, ropes and technique. Bob was so patient with me and was there with his " green pointer" to help me over the tough spots. You should know that I am 74 years old and tho I have climbed indoors for a few years, my stamina was not that of the youngsters who were there! Nonetheless, it was a great time! I highly recommend Valley to Summit, this being my 3 rd trip with them. They Rock!

He asked a few questions, then determined that it should be OK for me to go on the hike. Shortly before the hike we received an email from Dave saying that because of the warm weather the trip would not have as much ice as it normally does. He offered to reschedule or refund our money if we wanted, but also said we could go if we wanted. We wanted. When I got there Dave and the guides were fantastic. Very personable. They were helpful but without being intrusive. One of them carried one of my forearm canes in his backpack in case I needed it. (This was to have one hand free for the ice axe.) The hike was great. At the end of the hike I asked one of the guides if he thought I could do the repelling they offer... he conferred with the owner and the lead repeller guide, and they agreed that I would be allowed to do that in the Spring. I highly recommend Valley to Summit for a great time. I look forward to a full day ice hike in February.

Now granted, for the past 16 years, I had called Lake Tahoe my backyard so back to Cooper River was a bit of a .... come down. Still, I've come to enjoy certain parts of it. The county park has some great summer events, and if you are in the mood to go for a bike ride or walk around the lake, it's fine. There is lots of parking available. Just be careful if there are big special events when parking is a bit trickier.

Today was my first Philadelphia public pool experience and I was pleasantly surprised! The pool and…read moredeck were very clean and well maintained. The pool was rather large. Even though there were a lot of children, I still had a great time. The deep end was relatively empty so I didn't feel overrun by children. The Lifeguards were very friendly. One told me this pool will be open until mid-August. They do an adult only swim every day from 5-6pm. There is also a large basketball court, a couple of baseball diamonds, and play equipment.
