Intro to Rock Climbing with Valley to Summit on September 18, 2022. This was my second trip to Chickies Rock with VTS and it was wonderful! There were only 5 of us, so plenty of time to climb. Our Guide, Bob, was so patient, engaged and informative. I learned a lot of great things that I had not known before about clothing, ropes and technique. Bob was so patient with me and was there with his " green pointer" to help me over the tough spots. You should know that I am 74 years old and tho I have climbed indoors for a few years, my stamina was not that of the youngsters who were there! Nonetheless, it was a great time! Absolutely amazing professional guides!! I hired this company to guide me through the winters treacherous water fall trails of Ricketts Glen that is normally closed off for hikers that don't have the explicitly specific required safety gear for winter hikes which this company provides. The guides were patient and helpful with the small group in getting gear on and going over all the safety equipment. They were never impatient with anyone and insanely kind. You could tell the guides truly enjoyed bringing everyone out to this amazing trail at Ricketts Glen State Park. I wasn't sure what to expect but OMG it was worth the money spent to have these guys/gals guide me through the trails. I took tons of pictures and was never rushed at all while taking in the views and photos. This company comes highly recommended amongst the hiking community even out of state. read more

We were scheduled to do a 1/2 day ice hike at Ricketts Glen. I had spoken to the owner Dave and let him know of my disabilities. He asked a few questions, then determined that it should be OK for me to go on the hike. Shortly before the hike we received an email from Dave saying that because of the warm weather the trip would not have as much ice as it normally does. He offered to reschedule or refund our money if we wanted, but also said we could go if we wanted. We wanted. When I got there Dave and the guides were fantastic. Very personable. They were helpful but without being intrusive. One of them carried one of my forearm canes in his backpack in case I needed it. (This was to have one hand free for the ice axe.) The hike was great. At the end of the hike I asked one of the guides if he thought I could do the repelling they offer... he conferred with the owner and the lead repeller guide, and they agreed that I would be allowed to do that in the Spring. I highly recommend Valley to Summit for a great time. I look forward to a full day ice hike in February. read more

Amazing! This was super well organized! They supplied everything we could need, I wouldn't of been able to do this hike without them! Doug and Lisa (our guides) were super nice, set the perfect pace, and were really charismatic. The hike was itself was pretty easy with the crampons provided, and the frozen waterfalls were amazing! I had so much fun hiking to the beautiful waterfalls at Ricketts Glen State Park. All the guides at Valley to Summit were amazing. Everything from equipment to safety was explained and executed perfectly. I learned some new winter skills with crampons and how to use them effectively on ice. Went with 2 friends and my fiancé for my 31st. Cannot say enough good things about the experience. Carlos and jake were both phenomenal. Carlos in particular was extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and just an all around great teacher and guy. I had only climbed once before. And same with a few others in my group. Carlos and Jacob were a wealth of info and did a really great job explaining everything and teaching us how to climb and belay - all with safety in mind. We learned a ton, climbed a ton, and walked away with a solid foundation in climbing knowledge that I will 100% be building in from here. Great activity. I went with a small group on the white water rafting trip on the Lehigh River. What an awesome time! We are big fans of hiking and wanted to try something different. David runs his services out of a base camp nearby that owns the rafting company. By going through Valley to Summit we got extra special treatment. His services made the experience much more enjoyable. He and his friendly wife were very organized in a somewhat chaotic setting before we set off towards the river. They were there to organize, give information, and guide us through the experience. The package we chose through VTS included the zip line and paintball as well, however the rafting is really what made the trip. The scenery on the Lehigh River reminds you how beautiful PA can really be. I will definitely be sending business your way and be returning as a customer with David and VTS. read more

The group I was in was very friendly. I have hiked Ricketts Glen in the summer but this was such a different experience. The frozen waterfalls were beautiful! My girlfriend and I went ice hiking in Ricketts Glen, on the half day tour. It was our first time ice hiking and it was great: despite a few warm, rainy days beforehand, the trails were still frozen over and the scenery was great. The falls looked awesome in their semi-frozen state and the hiking was actually easier going than expected, but still a bit challenging. The hot chocolate break toward the end was a nice touch. The only reason this isn't a five star review is no fault of the guides, who were great. I think the unusual conditions had led to some sections of the trail freezing in odd ways, meaning what was supposed to be a three and a half hour trip turned into a little over five, with a bit of standing around. However, this was mainly because the guides wanted to setup extra safety ropes and make sure everyone was safe: they did absolutely nothing wrong, it just led to the experience not being a perfect, 5-star one. If you're like me and mainly go outdoors in the summer, but are looking for a breath of fresh air in the winter, I do recommend this trip. read more

I went on the frozen waterfall trip. It was incredible. David was wonderful and patient. He helped me so much, as I have some nasty anxiety. He helped me shut down panic, and really, truly enjoy the trip. The trip was beautiful. I felt well informed, and safe! I will recommend David and VTS to everyone who asks, it was THAT good. Just returned from my second trip with VTS and I can't say enough wonderful things about these guys. Had a great time rappelling with them in November at Chickies Rock and spent a fantastic day rock climbing yesterday at Pole Steeple. I thought the entire weekend would be a wash because of bad weather but David communicated with us several times on Friday with alternatives to our original itinerary so that the trip would not have to be cancelled. What I really love about spending time with David and his team is that they are all about safety and teaching. By the end of the day I was belaying my partner with total confidence. There were 6 of us that took the whitewater rafting trip. One of the guides, Adam, boarded our raft, tied his boat to our raft and would not leave. He kept touching my daughter on her arms and legs although was repeatedly asked to stop. He would not leave our raft for the whole second half of our trip, it was horrible! The whitewater rafting was fun, we went last year but will never be back again after the guide, Adam's, harassment! read more

I organized a company day trip with my coworkers with Valley To Summit. We went horseback riding on Clydesdale horses and it was a fantastic day. Valley to Summit arranged the entire trip, which included transportation to and from the Clydesdale farm in New Jersey as well as dinner/drinks at the local brewery. The day ran smoothly and little planning was needed on my end. All that we needed to do was show up. Dave was so flexible and easy to work with. Plus, he is very knowlegable and knows the area well.
