I can't believe what happened this morning. I placed an order through the app for a smoothie to pickup before I headed in to work. I arrived at 07:45am. They open at 7am. When I walked up, the door was locked. There was an employee inside making a smoothie who looked right at me and wouldn't open the door. He then went into the back and didn't come back out. I knocked on the door and called, no one would answer. So I wasn't able to get my smoothie that I paid for. I order from Tropical Smoothie Cafe ALL the time but after today, I am NEVER coming back to this location. This is completely unacceptable. Smoothies were absolutely wonderful. Didn't expect for the cup to be as large as it was. We ordered 3 smoothies and were very pleased with the tastes of each drink. We couldn't get the machine to work in order for me to add my rewards for ordering but hopefully I can report s missed visit online. First time being here. It has been years since I have eaten at this place. The place was nice. It was clean and spacious inside. I had the smoothie and half a sandwich and it was good! I'm glad I did half because I got pretty good. I was not able to even finish the smoothie. I tried the avocolada and the ultimate club for the sandwich. The smoothie was great! I went twice in the past couple weeks and received terrible service. The first time, the only employee there was cleaning and didn't notice my party waiting at the register for a few minutes. After we placed our order, we sat down and waited for a few more minutes when three other employees walked in, all with to-go drinks in their hands. They started working on our order but got part of it wrong so we didn't bother to correct it. At that point, the restaurant had gotten busy and they were scrambling to catch up. The most recent time, I was refused food after walking in an hour and a half before closing time. Terrible customer service. I walked in and waited 10 minutes without even being acknowledged. Meanwhile, the line behind me increased to five people and none of the four employees behind the counter said a word. Finally, I asked if someone could take our orders. One employee yelled to the back to another employee to ask them to come take the order. So now we're at five employees and no one has greeted the line of customers. The employee in the back yells for one in the front to take orders. When I finally attempted to place my order after close to 15 minutes, the employee proceeded to tell me that they are out of avocados (the main ingredient in the smoothie I wanted). This is not the first time I have experienced poor customer service at this business. On average, three out of five visits have had some kind of issue. Great if you want your order wrong the first...and second time. My husband and I come to this place a lot because it is one of the few places in Macon with vegetarian and vegan friendly options. We like to call ahead which is usually hit or miss...they may leave you on hold indefinitely or not start your order until you get there which defeats the purpose. The food is always great, but when we walk in we both wonder "what is going to be the issue this time?" Between forgetting smoothies, waiting to start our order (when the employees are busy arranging cups), and making our sandwiches with real chicken instead of beyond meat, a trip here is never without a little hang up. FIRST when we walked in there was one person there who wasn't even waiting. My sister ordered in front of me and payed, but the girl didn't charge her for her second smoothie so she needed to come back and pay, and they also got the food order wrong and just put some chicken and cheese together. Then l went next and the girl got my order wrong and even read it back wrong because she got my sisters order and mine mixed up, she did not add oats which l asked for and added kiwi l didn't ask for on another so l was overcharged. None of us got the correct receipt so we could see what we were charged and then my mom ordered and wasn't charged for a sandwich so she had to come back and pay for ANOTHER sandwich.
