This is not fast food, the service and preparation does take awhile every time I go. However, the food is always fresh and so good. There's not another place like it, & they even have meat substitutes for vegetarians! Prices are a little on the higher end. You probably will spend $10-15 dollars more here compared to a McDonald's or Sonic order, but I think the quality makes up for that. read more

Decided to stop in today to give it a try. I wasn't sure what to expect, the place was packed, and the drive-thru was full. Initially, I took this as a good sign. Man was I wrong. The store was fairly clean, floors and tables were decent, though someone should probably buss the tables once in a while cause there was random trash just laying on the tables. I was not aware of the wide variety of items that are offered here, and oddly, it appeared that the majority of people ordering were ordering food, not drinks. The menu offers everything what you'd expect drink wise (smoothies, juices etc.) with whatever type of "supplement" add-on you choose. Though it looked like everything came in one size only. Then there's a decent selection of flatbread styled sandwiches, wraps & salads too, which as this was a little late for lunch seemed like what everyone came for. There was plenty of people working so taking my order did not take too long. The girl was nice enough and forewarned me that they were a little slow today so it would be a few minutes. I'd have said no issue if this would have been truly "a few minutes". While waiting we watched an individual come inside from the drive-thru lane pick up an order (not his own) and walk out, exclaiming that he was done waiting! This was after about a 10 minute wait, while getting antsy I figured my drink has to be coming up, right!?! WRONG!!! I watched people come and go for another 20 minutes, customers were coming in and others were shooing them away to leave because they had been waiting for x-amount of time. Obviously, employees are completely entitled to a lunch break. However, I'd say it probably not a good idea for one of them just to plop themselves down in the dining area when there was a large mass of people angrily waiting for their orders. Especially when this individual has their food and others have been waiting. 30 minutes. It took me 30 minutes to get my mango smoothie, which BTW was terrible. Since this bad boy cost like $8-9 (with tip), I forced myself to drink the somewhat still frozen mixture which tasted more like the pineapple juice from the can, mixed with ice slush blended. Can't speak for the food, but as everyone was either extremely hungry today or that sh!t is fire, but definitely not coming back here ever. I would give it another try if I could guarantee I could achieve this task in under 10 minutes (seems like a reasonable ask for a smoothie, according to the timing schedule I made up in the event I had the ingredients at home, and I was going to make a smoothie). Went for my lunch break and got my usual, sandwich and smoothie. The lady was extremely rude. I took my food to work and ate it. The sandwich was not the best this time and the smoothie just didn't taste right. I had taken a few sips throughout the day but was not like I usually do. When it came time to clock out I took the smoothie to the sink to dump it and throw the cup away. Chunks fell out and at first I thought "oh, chunks of banana. Seems normal" but as I was washing the smoothie down the drain the pieces were becoming clearer to me. It was pieces of a magic eraser. This tropical smoothie location is definitely my new favorite. I have tried tropical smoothie in san antonio and other cities but nothing beats this one. The workers are always very welcoming and I never have to wait more than 10 minutes for my meal and smoothies. The store is aesthetically pleasing and I will definitely be going back soon. My favorite smoothie is the chia banana boost and the bahama mama. Their thai peanut sauce is to die for! read more

If you have no better place to be at, this is the best place to go to. The SERVICE IS TERRIBLE!! The first couple of weeks they were open, the workers seemed on top of their business. The service has gone down hill since then...the drive thrus take almost 20 minutes to get your food out. One time I was in the drive thru and the worker on the speaker told me to wait just I moment. Well, I ended up waiting for 30 minutes. The smoothies look like there is NO EFFORT put into making them. The powder put into the lean machine smoothie was not properly blended and I spat out literal white chunks that tasted like medicine. They're almost always watery. My son and I went to tropical smoothie Cafe for the first time today. The interior is very clean and nice. My son ordered a smoothie bowl. After eating some of the topping he realized the actual smoothie at the bottom of the bowl was frozen super hard it was basically like a hockey puck. He went and asked about it. The two ladies working in their were not particularly rude but they also were not helpful. She said since he already ate some of the topping that she cannot make another one but she will thaw out the smoothie in the microwave. It ended up making it hot and melted around the edges but still super Frozen in the middle so he tried to mash it up with a spoon but it was terrible it was like a hot cold smoothie and obviously a smoothie should never be hot. So he then thought well I will ask her if maybe she can just give me a small smoothie in instead. She said no he already ate the toppings so she cannot give him anything. So we just threw it away and will never go there again. $10 for basically just the toppings. read more

The food from Tropical Smoothies is overpriced and substandard. I wanted to try something new, so I selected this restaurant. I ordered a wrap. The wrapper was stale and the filling skimpy. To make things worse, Grubhub gave me a hard time when I requested a refund. My bad -- I disregarded Tropical Smoothies low rating. I've been exchanging emails with Grubhub as follow up and am about to switch to Instacart or Door Dash. I do not appreciate Grubhub service reps treating me as if I were taking food out of their children's mouths. I am fed up! They seem to have lost sight of the fact that I am the customer. This place needs some major improvement. I left 1st review 2 weeks ago and decided to try again. 7:30 on a Saturday evening...not busy at all and still screwed up my order. I love Tropical Smoothie! I was so excited when I saw this one being built. However, they are having a rough time since opening. The service is beyond SLOW! I've never waited so long for "fast food." I'm so disappointed. It looks like these employees were not properly trained on how to use the ordering system. I waited in the drive thru AT THE WINDOW for 25 minutes for a smoothie and a breakfast wrap. There was one girl working by herself at 7:30am. She made at least 5 other smoothies before ever even thinking to put my breakfast wrap in the oven. They HAVE to get things done in order. I think I'll be taking a break from here for awhile until they figure it out. The manager really needs to come help their employees get this right! read more
