First time frequenting this chain. Went on a whim as it was a tropically hot island day and we'd just left the air conditioned purveyor of books that's in the same plaza. We were operating on island time, with nearly an hour to kill before my gf and her sis got some piercings in wantagh. a 189 foot sojourn (per the map on here) brought us to another island destination: tropical smoothie cafe. I've only ever been to a mom & pop smoothie place in jersey, so the menu today was a bit overwhelming. I wasn't interested in any heavy food, but it was nice to know it's there. Plus the food selections are sometimes less caloric than the smoothies. My order was a peanut butter cup. I requested the bananas withheld, the turbinado sugar withheld, dark chocolate added for flavor, and the protein of choice was of pea provenance. I ordered for the girls but frankly don't remember what they got. Something with fruit, and there were no complaints. My smoothie was good, as it should be for $7! The size was actually more than I wanted, but I don't think they had an option for smaller sized, lesser priced portions. The drink/quasi meal supposedly had yogurt in it, perhaps that's why it tasted sweet? For how sweet it was, I have my doubts that the sugar was withheld as requested, but who knows. It hit the spot and held me over until dinner. The guy who took our order was very friendly and patient with my modifications. I'd come by again if in the area wanting a smoothie and some sugar! Side note, it was tropically hot inside. Perhaps from the door opening frequently, maybe from poor AC? But it's a grab and go spot, so we survived. This place was terrible to me from day one. I am a loyal tropical smoothie cafe customer, but will no longer come to this location. The staffs at the Hicksville location are phenomenal but I'm not sure where the staffs at this location got their training from. First time I visited this cafe I was rudely told to just go grab my order from the side pickup cubbies instead going directly to the staffs at the register. I understood and complied due to COVID19 social distancing. I didn't know at first because there is always a friendly staff handing me my CORRECT order at the Hicksville location. From then on I just go grab my order if the order is ready by the time I get there (which rarely happens because they usually take longer than the estimated time provided on the mobile app). On 1/17/21 I went to the pick up area but my food was not ready. I was told to wait there until my order is ready. A very friendly male staff brought me my order and apologized for being delayed. I looked inside the bag and it had 3 wraps. I ordered 3 wraps and I assumed I was given the correct order. When I got home I realized I was given the wrong wraps and must've gotten another customers order. The bag did NOT have a receipt or customer name on it. I was a little upset, reported the incident on the app, and went on with my life. Forward to 7 days later (which is today), my app order was not ready again. I looked at each order carefully in the pickup cubbies at a distance to make sure I don't get the wrong order again. I was approached by a female employee who announced that because I "took" someone else's order last week they are not "allowed" to put MY order in the pickup cubbies anymore. I was embarrassed and shocked at her accusation. I calmly addressed that I was GIVEN the wrong order last week. She said "THATs NOT WHAT I WAS TOLD." Okay well thanks for accusing and embarrassing me, when I was the one who was approached and given the wrong order. I didn't make a scene and I thanked her for handing me my late order (still doesn't have a receipt or name on the bag) and will never return to this location again. Came to this location for the first time along with my boyfriend and immediately upon arrival I was disappointed. The worker at the register did not greet us in anyway he just stared at us until we were ready to order. For service like this In the service industry anyone would be displeased. Also when he could not hear what was being said his response was "what" to me this is just rude. It wasn't only to use he was this way a few people came in after and he was the exact same way! Its on the smaller side inside with limited seating but outside theres plenty or outdoor seating. As soon as I walked in, Jacob at the register greeted me warmly! Again a smile goes a long way! My order was a classic Kiwi Quencher smoothie! The price is roughly $6.29 with tax, but if you add a smoothie to a meal its cheaper! I didnt't go for any food options this time but based on some other customers eating the food looks fresh and good! They have plenty of smoothie and food options if you are in the food for fruity, healthy or indulging! I always come to tropical smoothie, today I ordered lunch for delivery through door dash. They were nice and were able to substitute my drink to something that wasn't on the menu. I love their wraps but it's so small now !! I think over time they just made their foods smaller and smaller. The wraps are made for people with smaller appetites for sure. What I like about tropical smoothie is the selection. They have lots of elections to from. The selections to also very tasty and for the most part good for you. What I don't like about tropical smoothie is that in some of their items, They add sugar without telling you. For those of us on a certain diet, that is not a good thing at all. unfortunately, you have to catch them on a good day for employees to be nice to you. I placed an order for catering for my baby shower recently through ezcater. I ordered 2 platters of the SuperGreen Caesar Chicken Salad (Romaine, spinach & kale with chicken, shredded Parmesan, tomatoes, Parmesan crisps, and Caesar dressing) and asked for them to package it into individual containers, since we are still in a pandemic and didn't want the food served family style. The description said each platter would serve 8 people. Each platter cost $37 (total $80 + tax) When I went to pick up my order the day before my baby shower, they gave me my order in 4 small plastic bags. The salads were divided into 24 cup size containers and most cups weren't even filled all the way. They put the chicken in 2 small side salad containers and the parm crisps in 1 small side salad container. I was very unhappy with my order because the cups were so small, you'd have to eat at least 3-4 to be full and there is no way these 24 cups would equal 2 big catering platters. There was also no kale in any of the salads (the salad is supposed to contain romaine, spinach & kale). I complained to the manager about the size of the salads and the lack of kale. He said there isn't supposed to be kale but on the ezcater website, it clearly says there is. So the manager gave me a small side salad container of kale. It was half wilted. I called ezcater to complain and another manager asked what happened. I complained about the small amount of food and there was no way I got 2 big catering platters of food in those 24 small cups. She asked what she could do and I said she could give me more salad to makeup for the lack of food. She gave me 2 small side salad containers worth of the salads. I had to continue running errands for my baby shower, so I left after that. When I got home, I emptied all the cups into a big bowl. All of the salads barely made it to the top of the bowl (I put a cereal bowl next to the big bowl so you can see how big the salad bowl is). The salad bowl is much smaller than the catering platters and all of the salad fit into 1 bowl! I was beyond livid. This was supposed to be 2 big catered platters that I paid $80+ for. There was no way this salad would feed 16 people (TSC claims each platter would feed 8 people). Ezcater called me back and I told them again there was insufficient food in my catered order. They spoke to the cafe and refunded me back 30% from the original order. Still, this salad was nowhere worth $50! I was mortified to serve this puny salad in the tiny salad cups, so I bought bigger salad bowls, as well as additional salad ingredients to make sure the salads were bigger and people wouldn't be hungry after eating. I spent $20 on the salad containers and $18 on extra lettuce, spinach, kale, and cherry tomatoes. Only after adding these additional ingredients did the salad look like an actual salad. For the price of the 2 platters, I could've bought enough ingredients to make 4 big catering platters of salad. Thankfully the salad tasted good but I would never ever order catering from Tropical Smoothie Cafe. They tried to pull a swift one by overcharging and providing less food than advertised. If I knew they would be providing tiny cups of salads, I would've ordered 10-11 individual salad entrees. The price would've been the same and I would've gotten more food! Do NOT order catering from here! read more

I noticed immediately that the smoothie was too sweet and I told the cashier and she said to me in a very rude tone " next time tell me you don't want sugar in it" well the menu doesn't state you put additional sugar in it so I did not know and BE CAREFUL, WHEN YOU PAY WITH YOUR CREDIT CARD THEY AUTOMATICALLY ADD 15 percent tip on to your bill which is a complete scam!!!!! This place always has an issue with my order. They have 5 or 6 people working behind the counter but still somehow mess up orders. I ordered through the app and over an hour later the order still wasn't ready....and when I finally got the order it was incorrect. I just left because wasn't worth arguing over. I love the tropical smoothie franchise but will never return to this location. It was clean and the staff was friendly. But the issues is I have been a vegetarian for years. So I decided to order a Cesar salad wrap NO chicken. Which I realized was made with chicken after taking a huge bite. I was so disappointed I haven't eaten meat in years. I went back inside and asked them to make me a new wrap. Which they did apologetically did. However, I should have been refunded.
