My mixture of choice is the Island Green Smoothie (banana, spinach, mango, pineapple). I tell them half the banana and add coconut. Add my little island vibe flavor to it, you know. Anyway - one 24 oz island smoothie with the additions will cost about 7 dollars .... geez (same thing I was thinking). Sometimes the price gets to me and I make it at home. I ordered a Bahama Mama smoothie and a three cheese chicken quesadilla. The cups are no longer foam they are paper. So your smoothie is more like a drink NOT a thick smoothie. This was my first time at this establishment, and I really enjoyed it!! It was pretty clean, and the employees were all pretty friendly. My sister is in town, so we stopped at this place on a whim, really. We both ordered the Caribbean Jerk Chicken wraps (except I ordered mine with the vegan chicken). The wraps were both pretty good size, definitely filled us up, and they were pretty dang tasty, too! It was a bit spicy, but we both liked the kick, and the peach salsa gave it a nice sweet balance. We also both ordered smoothies! I got the (ummm.... Mango Magic I believe - and I added the spinach/kale pack), and my sister ordered the Island Green smoothie. Let me begin by stating that I am not a smoothie person. I eat fruit raw or in ice cream, that's the extent of it. But, the waves of Georgia summer came upon me on this fateful Sunday afternoon and a smoothie was all that sounded like reprieve. I am one of the most ardent of supporters when it comes to local, but Sunday's after 3 pm will find you without any such option. Thankfully the guidance of the Yelp community (especially the Elites) guided me here. And as is always the case, they were correct. I will mention that if you are on Robert C. Daniel and Target is on your right side, this location may be a little tricky to get into. Your left turn does not have a light and traffic in this area can be intense. Also, you may not see the sign immediately, as it is at the far end of the row of stores. But don't let this impede your going. I will go ahead and mention that they have a full menu, but again my mission was a smoothie. I walked in to an almost full house and a few people in line, but the line moved quickly. I used this time to scan the menu. There are basic smoothies (fruit, ice), more complex smoothies, and the super smoothies (my name for them) that have additional items such as protein or antioxidants. I went middle of the road and ordered a Beach Bum (it was hot enough that day). It has bananas, strawberries, and chocolate (white or milk). I anticipated a wait, due the number of people there but it was only about 5 minutes before my order was called. And probably the same amount of time for me to consume it. I will be keeping this place on my smoothie radar in the future and plan to come back to give the full menu a chance. If you do the same, know that you can add a smoothie to a meal for only $3.50. My friend and my mom got their usual- Baja Chicken which is grilled chicken, green peppers, red onions, romaine, low fat mozzarella and light southwest ranch dressing on a toasted flatbread. With their sandwiches, my mom got sunrise sunset smoothie- strawberries, pineapple, mango, and orange juice. My friend got Acai Berry Boost which has acai, pomegranate, banana, blueberries and strawberries. They let me try a sip and I was truly impressed. They only have one size which I believe is 24 oz. They were both good. Our flatbreads was amazing! I love the size, taste and price of the flatbread! The dressing was just right and not ooozing out of the sandwich. I was also a little hungry so I tried their Pineapple Jalapeño store brand kettle chips and they were surprisingly good. I had the green islander while my husband had the paradise blend and we both had to quit 30% of the way down because they were just that filling. The first time my son and I ordered the same smoothie however they tasted different...one was extremely flavorful but the other was bland. The second time around was during their grand opening...I knew that it was going to be busy but never would I have thought that it would take 45+ minutes to make three smoothies. Apparently they mixed up the tickets some how because several people that came in after me received their smoothies before me. I spoke to one of the owners but was told that it was coming up next...I was then asked multiple times what I had ordered. And when I finally got my them the server mixed up the smoothies...so my son and I had to switch. I never received an apology or anything either. I doubt that I'll visit again. It's not that they said they didn't have chips, we just found out when we didn't have any in our bag. So rather than preparing themselves for a shortage by giving us a heads up, even as late as when we picked it up, they just hoped we wouldn't notice? So I'm told the other options are cookies and "fruit". Given the ineffectual manner in which fruit was mentioned, I'm picturing a moldy banana or a rotten apple. Instead my options are climates to a normally delicious kale slaw, neither of which was a full serving, or looked like someone had gotten peckish while preparing it. So when I ask for my money back, I'm told they need to see my wife's email receipt. Because apparently I look like the kind of person who would steal a family order of food and then try to weasel $5 cash out of the deal. 15 years of food service, I never once treated a customer so dismissively, passed off such a pathetic product or was so unwilling to make the situation any better. Don't waste your time unless you want to spend most of it pleasing for the right food or if you'd like to be treated with a little dignity. Why does Tropical Smoothie respond with an auto message calling for me to reach out to them with more details? I think I was pretty descriptive. How can you make it better? They also have a military discount even though I didn't notice it until I already checked out it's just amazing that they honor and support service members! Overall I'm giving this place a 4 but if I could choose a 3.5, that would be more accurate. Here's the lowdown: Pros: 1.) They have great hours and are open on Sunday. It's so hard to get brunch reservations if you don't plan ahead but this cafe is a good alternative. 2.) The staff is very friendly and work quite efficiently as a team. 3.) The smoothies were good and they have plenty of healthy food choices. I had their kale coleslaw with apples and it was very tasty! The portion sizes were a little small but that could be because I'm used to seeing colossal portions elsewhere. Opportunities for Improvement: 1.) As soon as you walk in there's a handwritten sign telling you they aren't fast food and it takes longer to make orders. So I get it, it's frustrating that people want fresh, healthy food and smoothies quickly but that's just the society we live in. Take the sign down because it's a terrible first impression and educate customers on why your food is different than a fast food chain. 2.) Our party had 3 adults and a toddler and we had to push two tables together for a tight fit.
