Came in for some smoothies and a quick bite. The smoothies were hit or miss, out of the four we got two were watered down with no flavor, one was full of oats making it hard to drink and the final one was actually perfect lol. We had the chicken chimis, grilled chicken platter, tostones, and empanadas. The empanadas were okay. The chimis were good but the cabbage was too cold for my liking. The chicken and tostones were really good. Overall this place is pretty decent and the staff is nice so I would come back. read more

I ordered for pick up. When I got there it was ready and I was not very far away. I got a smoothie with pineapple, strawberries and banana and a chicken quesadilla. The smoothie waa great but the quesadilla could have been better. The chicken was a little dry. The inside was clean and had a couple of tables if you wanted to eat in. The girls working were nice. I ordered 25 empanadas for a picnic my friends and I were having at an apple orchard. Needless to say I paid $29.13 for 25 beef empanadas that had MAYBE a tablespoon of filling in each. The manager said she would check with her other manager and I left my information in order for either of them to get back to me. I called again on that Tuesday and left a message. I called again on Wednesday and the employee told me Ricelys, the manager would not be in for a couple of days!! Seriously?? Ordered 30 empanadas last minute and they were able to fill that order and for a great price. Only problem that I had was that once you opened up the empanadas, it was like a dusting of beef inside. Pretty much empty It was kind of embarrassing cause we brought it as our potluck item to a party. However, I will say they are good empanadas though. Great flavor, tasty dough. Just had lunch there on a Groupon deal. Was better than expected from the neighborhood it is located in. For the price with or without a groupon it is a deal for authentic tasting "tropical" (south American) food. Menu is on tvs behind the counter and the screens change too fast to read all of the options. Do yourself a favor if you are not familiar with this type of food and look at the menu online before you go. There are also printed menus on the counter, but they do not include everything that is on the online menu. Didn't try the smoothies, but look forward to trying one next time I stop for lunch. If I could give them a 3.5, I would. Needless to say, I don't think I could honestly give them four whole stars, at least not after my first experience at Tropical Juice Bar. I came in for a quick lunch with my family and was happy that even though they I didn't get a spot, they had their own small parking lot for their patrons. I checked quickly on Yelp if it was kid friendly before we went and although it says yes, they didn't have any high chairs when we arrived. So we sat my toddler nephew on a regular chair which thankfully turned out ok. I kept my jacket on the whole time because it was quite cold inside. Not sure if it was because they didn't have the heat on or because there was an opening covered by what looks like a nonfunctional door simply placed in front of an unfinished storage space where cold air was coming in. You grab a paper menu, and order/pay at the register. Later they'll call you to grab your order up front (similar to Banana King, for instance.) While I was up there ordering, I noticed a catering menu. Out of curiosity, I looked into it for the future. It was super confusing; listing the names of the food item followed by a number which you would assume is the price. I asked how many empanadas come in the tray. The attendant says 14, which is the number next to it. So I say, ok then so all these numbers are quantities not prices? She says yes, but I don't need to order those quantities. (HUH??!) So where are the prices? I said why would someone order 19 or 29 of something? These numbers are very specific, lol. She said that was a sample catering menu. Ummm ... Either way, I decided not to ask any more questions about it and moved on with my order. The food... more than twenty minutes later we finally got our order: a quesadilla combo with a peanut butter, banana, almond milk smoothie; 1 order of patacones, 1 side of maduros, 1 empanada, 1 súper green juice, 1 morir soñando. I must say, all the drinks were on point and I would most definitely come back for those. They were reasonably priced and healthier than what you would get at a banana king or similar spot, offering a good variety of add-ons like protein, nuts etc. They ranged from $3.50-5, base price before they add ons. Now for the food, I really don't think I would come back for the food unless it was the empanadas or the fries (crispy and soft on the inside, scrumptious!). The poor quesadillas were supposed to have pulled pork inside. When I opened each quadrant there was probably a spoonful in each piece, so we ate tortilla and cheese mostly. Sad. So disappointing, I really wanted to say something but my husband asked me to let it go and they had already taken so long with "fast food" that it wasn't worth it to complain and wait longer. The patacones were drenched in pink sauce (ketchup & mayo). At least the plantain top was crispy, the bottom was already soggy by the time I was halfway through with 1/4 piece. We took a Cuban sandwich to go for my brother in law, giving the place one last shot on the food and he said it was ok, but didn't really resemble a Cuban sandwich. I think this place tried to take too many fast food staples from a lot of Latin American countries to sell them all alongside their smoothies instead of focusing on just the fresh smoothies and the few foods they make best (I have yet to find out what that is!). I came here in the time span of two days, and ordered the same thing twice. I had a super green juice with pineapple juice, and fell in love. The staff was very nice and responsive. I will be coming to this location for a try of their different smoothies and shakes.. it really does taste yummy! AND it's healthy! They also have Almond Milk available at request. Sign me up. The empanadas were also good. I like their shape and size, perfect for a snack. The restaurant had an overall modern feel to it, with that special Latin twist. They have monitors that show their menu, as well as paper menus available at the front for you to look through. I really enjoyed my experience here, and like I said.. I'll be back!!! read more

Good food it is fresh but small portioned they are clean but seems to be like the oldest lady there who's always at the register is the only one who cares how things are running because the young girls look lost look like they are just there for the check and that's it they are not careful in making sure you get the right empanadas they'll mix em up because it has happened just like they put strawberries in my apple a day juice one time what if I was allergic to strawberries?
