This place has been on my radar for many years. Working fairly close from Gerrard Square (where this joint is at) and hearing good reputations from multiple first generation immigrants from Caribbean area, this place has always been my thoughts. I finally had a chance to visit here very recently! yey! I was in a hurry, rushing to the next work related meeting soon. But the service was super efficient. From my order (Jerk chicken set - large - with bean rice and potatoes) to payment & receiving the order took only 3 mins. The portion was huge, I saved the half for the next day lunch. The chicken was super tender. I asked for extra hot sauce but next time I may not, as the jerk chicken itself was very flavorful with nice spice kick. I wanted to enjoy the jerk chicken as it is. The flavor of the rice was with full of nutty, spicy richness. The texture of both rice and beans was perfect! The service was polite and friendly. I MUST come back again.

What a delight the food here is. I've had the jerk pork on rice meal here a few times and it doesn't disappoint. My favourite Jamaican cuisine place hands down. Inside Gerrard Square food court.

Amazing price and portion that can't be beat anywhere else. It is a food court style food. The jerk chicken was nice and tender. We wish there was more sauce for the jerk chicken poutine. We tried the patty with everything and it was a good loaded sandwhich. Worth the visit.

My absolute go to for jerk chicken for years. Tj's is a gem. Anything with jerk chicken is a MUST here. I've gotten the roti, rice, poutine and beef patty. The portion sizes are astronomical, they stuff it every time. I usually get a large and it covers 3 meals. Make sure you get it with oxtail sauce and hot sauce! Highly recommend.

I normally go here for the curry chicken roti but this time I decided to get the ox-tail with rice and peas with hot sauce on the side. They give you a generous amount of meat. The ox-tail is tender and flavourful. They also give you some very tender stewed potatoes. The rice and peas don't taste dry like it does at many places. This is my favourite food court Caribbean restaurant. The only negative is they forgot to give me the hot sauce I ask for on the side...

Spicy beef patty with stuffed jerk pork is so fantastic!

Gerrard Square's food court has one hidden gem and that is Tropical Joe's. The stuff beef patty with jerk pork is pretty satisfying whether you get it mild or spicy. The coleslaw and tomato slices do aim to cool down the heat. Probably one of the most popular stands in the food court and it's tucked away at the far end so if you know, you know.

I had always seen this place tucked into the corner of the food court. FINALLY after all these years and I tried it for the first time 3 months ago. This is the best jerk place I've ever been and I'm addicted to this place. My husband and I have been coming here about 2-3 times a week. My favourite is the jerk chicken, it is so flavourful and tender. The rice and peas is perfect to pair with the chicken. I appreciate the spicy kick that the jerk has and their hot sauce is the bomb. My daughter loves their beef patties and we always have to get one for her everytime we make a trip to Gerrard Square. The staff are all very friendly and portions are very generous.

Drove up here because I was craving some Caribbean food and a friend was down to venture. We saw this on blog to and decided to give it a try. Value is definitely there. She ordered the oxtail with gravy while I ordered the curry chicken. Approximately 10$ per item which was pretty filling. Flavour was more west Indian then Jamaican so keep that in mind as this is not a typical Jamaican joint! We also ordered the Jerk chicken poutine, that was delicious. Good size, good flavour - well worth the trip.

Jerk Chicken on Rice, with potato, gravy and sauce. I ask for a extra tiny portion too!

Had to stop in Tropical Joes for Jerk Chicken. So flavorful - the spices are perfect. The gravy is almost subtle and aromatic. And the hot sauce ... pow!! I asked for a tiny tiny portion and I got 2 meals worth. Everything looks fresh and made with love.

My small Jerk Chicken ($5.50) was jammed full... - Chicken leg chopped up in pieces... (nice and moist and tender!) - Pea with Rice (a little cold though.. but it is fast food!) - Veggie medley (cabbage, broccoli and carrot, I need my veggie) - Oxtail Sauce, Hot Sauce... (lady kept asking me if I want all these sauce) - Big Smile and Thank You from the server Good tasting and satisfying! The Large for $1 seems like a better deal... double the size..but definitely something to share!

Large Roti. Jerk chicken was awesome

The I Heart Butter Tart Concrete ($6.49) that I ordered was a little too much for myself. I did decide to go through and finish the ice cream / sundae just so I don't have anything to go. The interior of the place was properly though out and well designed. Self order stations are available to order from and the ordering interface is one of the better systems I have seen. When I dined in early afternoon on a weekday it was a rather slow day. There were a couple of Shake Shack employees constantly roaming about the premises ready to attend to any customer request. 1 such employee was thoughtful enough to serve me and a group of other customers some water. I have mixed feelings about the bathroom setup. Yes, it is clean and there were a few toilet rooms available, but it requires a code to be entered prior to using. The door screen shows as vacant but an employee still needs to give out the 4 digit code needed to access the toilets. I also found some issues with the water faucet sensors. It is inconsistently picking up my gestures resulting in an unreliable and unsteady flow of running water when I was washing my hands.

This place is a definite must-try. The place has a few spots to eat, and the decor is beyond adorable and fitting. I couldn't get enough of the potato puns. The gentleman was incredibly nice in explaining what the top favs were and was even nice to allow me to add an ingredient, as one of my spuds had something removed (no coleslaw for me). My order consisted of Mexican Fiesta and Nashville Chick. My husband took his Mexican fiesta potato as is, but I ended up switching my pulled chicken for fried chicken. The potatoes were amazing! The base potato was so flavourful and not bland at all, evenly seasoned on its own without the toppings. The toppers were delicious and went well with the spud. It hasn't even been a week, and I'm already jonesing for my next potato bar experience.
