One word...fantastic! The food is so fresh and delicious and the decor is stunning. You are instantly transported into their tropical theme when you walk in. The chairs are covered in palm tree leaves and the rest of the decor gives you total bohemian vibes. Food came out super quick here and I was very impressed with the selection. My favorite place in Barcelona was this beautiful gem. This is honestly the best breakfast I've ever had in my life. I don't ever even like arepas but wow I was blown away with this egg arepa. The service was everything. The staff was kind and so friendly. I loved the table with got. You must have reservations as it fills quickly. The atmosphere is on point. One word. wow. Tropico was one of the highlights of my trip to Barcelona. After some not so great food experiences, Tropico really turned around my culinary experience in Spain. I ordered the huevos rancheros with an orange juice and I was not let down. The orange juice was freshly squeezed, with a nice paper straw (I support the ban of plastic straws). Nice little restaurant in the heart of Barcelona, with a surprising combination of foods from Africa and central/South America. I love their version of brunch: I had the persian crepes with honey, cream cheese and eggs with cilantro (a unique combination of sweet and savory, while respecting each flavors in the dish) and my friend had Arepas (eggs with veggies in a corn cake pocket) with fried plantains and avocado on the side. We ended our meal with their plain pancakes, topped with soft cream cheese frosting (not too sweet not too savory - just right) and berries. An extremely flavorful and filing meal. The place is simply decorated, with a small number of tables inside and a yard that would be fun to sit in the summer. Service is ok - friendly but slow. The restaurant is in the middle of a neighborhood so not much of an ambiance there. We were lucky to have found it though. The menu has about a dozen items, all creative and interesting. This place is 5 out of 5 stars. I found it through Yelp and my mom and I couldn't be happier we found our breakfast place. This place was so good we came back each day for breakfast. The ambiance is super cute and calming, the service is fantastic and the food is rapid but great quality. They range from having authentic Spanish food to healthy options like smoothies and açaí. This place was such a nice break from heavy food, everything we had was delicious but the patacones stole the show. Unbelievably good. The Arepas con perico aka egg sandwiches are amazing. I'd highly recommend them and it came with fresh avocado and perfectly cooked plantains. I ordered the Garden of Delights smoothie and the huevos rancheros. The smoothie was very good and had a nice sweetness that didn't taste artificial. The huevos rancheros were pretty decent however I want to come back here to try something else. The inside is really cute and comfortable and it's bigger than I thought because there is an additional room in the back. The service is so friendly too so it was a pleasant place to be in overall. Well worth a visit if you want something reasonably quiet and not touristy and close to La Rambla. I had huevos rancheros, my wife had arepas sifrina, and we were both quite pleased; we felt they were both certainly quite adequate portions. Ordered the scrambled eggs with the avocado. Overall the dish is creamy and smooth. It was unexpectedly good and the presentation of the dishes were superb. The nice drizzle of salt seasoning on top of the fresh acocado was perfect. It was meant to be. I addition it comes with the fried banana which was also quiet amazing and went really well with the avocado. All the elements in the dish collaborated well together. Reminder I only tried one dish. The acai bowl was amazing and the juices are delicious but the service was horrible. My waitress was friendly during my stay but when I went to pay I was €.50 short of my bill using small bills so I had to break a €20. She literally rolled her eyes, took a deep breath in, and let out a huge sigh. It was the most dramatic thing I've seen on my whole trip and it was because I didn't have exact change. Came here for Sunday brunch around 1 pm. Restaurant was pretty busy, but we only had to wait around 10 minutes for a table. I ordered the eggs Benedict and friend ordered nachos. Food was OK. However, we did not receive our drinks for nearly an hour after we ordered, and 20-25 minutes After we had finished our food. Thankfully the staff gave us a 10% discount, and provided us two free bottled waters while we waited. Let me start off by saying that the food we did get was good and a little bit overpriced​ in my opinion for the quality and quantity we received. I had the "Special pancakes" and they were delicious. Fresh fruit, cream cheese, with maple syrup it was a great combo, although this was my second choices after I was informed by the waitress that "They did not have all the menu items in stock" on a Friday morning around 10 A.M.?​ With all that being said, I was with a group of my friends and one of them never got the food they ordered. I don't know if they never put his order in or just forgot but this should never happen and yes I understand that mistakes do happen. I would suggest trying the Special pancakes and the Smoothies,​ but make sure your order gets​ put in or you might sit for a few hours wondering what is taking so long?
