We had visited the sister restaurant, Milk, for brunch and thought we try this one too. A little tucked in and out of the way, so had to look for it. We arrived at 11:50 am on Saturday morning, and found sitting right away! This one looks more like a bar, with darker decor and a pool table in the main dining room. Marmalade offered my best culinary experience during my Barcelona visit. I made a last minute reservation and everything was set up perfectly. Their menu is amazing and I wanted to try it all. Their warm gin soaked olives were out of this world and all of the other dishes blew me and my friends' minds. The waiters were professional but also passionate about their work. That was represented clearly in the food but also in their cocktail craftsmanship. A very stylishly decorated lounge/bar in the up and coming quarter of El Raval. we were there early on a saturday night, so it wasn't too crowded... that didn't make the service any faster, but - hey, this is Spain. Sitting at the bar, I noshed on the Cajun fries which were basically fries with a dipping sauce that tasted like ketchup mixed with a couple of spices... not quite what I envisioned when I ordered the fries, but, well, whatever. They do have a full bar, and rumor has it, they make a good bloody mary. My friend who's been here before swears by their brunch - so I'll have come back for a meal one of these days. This place has a great decor on the inside but also outside seating which is really nice. The staff was great and friendly. The food menu was extensive and had things to offer anyone. The smoothies looked amazing although I didn't get one, I got the bleedin Bellini which was good, the agave tasted just like cava so I mean you could just get that if you want it's a little cheaper. I got the chorizo hash which was delicious a little blan added salt and pepper. BE AWARE OF BEGGARS! One passed our table and stole my friends phone. All burgers are cooked medium rare with fresh beef supplied by a family run Boqueria butcher. The fries cooked twice over pair nicely. The Messi is a personal favorite. Came here with a locally based friend for brunch on Sunday morning. Really liked the funky setup and the background music at that time was just right. Service was relaxed and friendly so all good. Food was really very good. Huevos rancheros, Mediterranean toast and a chorizo hash provided a representative cross section of what was on offer from a very impressive menu. As it was Sunday brunch we had bloody marys and bellinis to go with it. As you do. My female companions also rationalised that dessert would be a good idea since 'we might not get to eat later'. I'm a huge fan. Went to Marmalade for a friend's birthday dinner and had the Wild West burger, which was fantastic, and a strawberry daiquiri, which went straight to my head (I have the alcohol tolerance of a hamster) but was delicious nonetheless. They also home-make their own ketchup, which is a little spicier than regular ketchup - so great! Four of my friends ordered the Yoga Man (a veggie burger complete with cucumber yogurt) and raved about it. Actually, everyone who had a burger loved it. Prices were all reasonable - from what I remember from the rest of the menu, all of the burger entrees are under 10 euros, and the drinks are anywhere between 5 and 7ish. We also ordered a slice of apple pie for the birthday girl, and they brought it out with candles and everything. Ambience is really nice, a kind of funky divey restaurant. It's a little dark, though, so I wasn't able to take as many pictures as I would have liked (although the food more than made up for that). All of my friends and I agreed that we'd be back before we left Barcelona - perhaps for their brunch next time, which is supposed to be great - although I'll miss the burgers! read more

Arrived here for brunch around noon and the restaurant was nearly empty. We were immediately greeted and sat inside opposite the bar. We ordered from the brunch menu. My girlfriend had the triple whammy burger and I had the eggs Benedict. With this entrée you can also get a drink and desert for around 9.50€ each. I came here on a night when walking sounded better than eating. With all the sights of Barcelona, I was too caught up seeing things, and eventually found it was quite late and I was quite hungry. What to do? The right answer was a trip to Marmalade for dinner. I had BBQ ribs -- not a Barcelona specialty, but a really filling meal when I needed it. As a solo diner, I felt comfortable, and light conversation with other customers was a nice benefit. My food was good, but not spectacular. However, I came back a couple days later for breakfast! Breakfast was great -- the coffee was perfect, and my eggs were just right. There's a pleasant patio, and the servers are less hungover than the customers - so they are ready to help. This place is decent. My husband and I decided to try this place out since it is the sister restaurant of MILK in the Barri Gothic district. We had such a great experience at MILK that we thought this place would be just as good. Let me start by saying, because of the location, this restaurant is a few euros more than MILK itself although they both have the SAME EXACT menu. We went to brunch here and was disappointed when they handed us the same menu we saw. The atmosphere was more of a sports bar than at MILK where it was a small dive cozy restaurant. They had a pool table on the left, TVs to watch at the bar and loud music playing in the restaurant. The food was decent. I ordered the same Ranchera omelette i had before and it came out dry, and the potatoes weren't cooked all the way so it was partially hard. Came to Marmalade once for dinner and once for drinks. Marmalade supposedly opens at 6:30 PM for dinner, but our waiter told us the kitchen didn't open until 7. We ordered burgers at 7 and didn't receive them until around 7:45, which is a ridiculous wait for a burger. As an American eating burgers abroad, I always judge them very harshly so I wasn't super impressed. I got the Mexicano burger, which was tasty enough but the bread was completely soggy so I had to cut it into pieces to eat. My sister got the Classico burger and it was unimpressive. The best thing we got was the goat cheese salad...it's amazing. Drinks are also good and well-priced for most of the cocktails. We're big fans of their sister restaurant, "Milk Bar & Bistro" so we came here with high expectations. Ordered two drinks, an app and two entrees for €40... fair pricing. - Bleeding Bellini cocktail was sweeter than I like and the glass was super sticky... - Nachos were good but, a bit on the cold side - The Asian chicken salad was terrible. The entire salad was practically a tough head of regular green cabbage. A blend of tender nappa and red should have been used. Instead of mandarin, they used dry bland navel oranges. Dressing was way too sweet and not enough of that well known and loved Asian sesame dressing. Toasted peanuts or sunflower seeds would have complimented the salad better than cashew. And it needed some crunch like wonton strips or crispy rice sticks to break up the monotony of cabbage. The chicken was bleh and non existent. - Pasta Pavarotti was ordered vegetarian style. The noodles were well cooked but, the dish overall was nothing spectacular...nothing worth noting. read more

Four of us went to Milk for brunch on Easter Sunday. We were told it would be a 45 minute wait, or the restaurant would pay for a cab to take us to their sister restaurant, Marmalade, where they would have a table ready for us by the time we arrived. If that isn't great service, I don't know what is! We sat in the back area, which was decorated very tastefully. A friend and I split the ranchero omelet, which was wonderful. The chorizo and creme fraiche paired so nicely together, and the breakfast potatoes it came with were well-seasoned and crispy. My bloody mary was pricey, but worth the money--super filling and spicy. My friend enjoyed her french toast and mimosa as well. After sitting and chatting for a while, we split an order of the lava cake, which was good but just like any lava cake out there. Our waitress was attentive, and we didn't feel rushed. read more
