My partner and I have passed this place every time visiting family in the surrounding area and decided to stop here for dinner in East Bangor, PA. Opened since the 1970s, the Trolley Stops Restaurant is a family owned and operated featuring home-style cooked meals. Unfortunately it started off on the wrong foot with the long wait time for service. Had to flag down one of the staff. Our waitress Natalie apologized as she didn't know that we were in her area. We ordered 2 specials consisting of the country fried steak, broccoli cheddar soup, gravy over the mashed potatoes and carrots as well as the beer battered cod, chicken with rice soup, (burnt)baked potato and carrots. The food came out warm with nothing to write home about. However the portions were huge and couldn't beat the price. Natalie informed us that on Saturday nights depending on the weather a car show is held at their parking lot with a live band. Sure we'll come back for a repeat performance.

Homefries-very tasty and short stack with the right amount of fluffiness

Food was great. Loved the home fries and pancakes and prices were good. The only hing is they have all pre-packaged syrups, jams, condiments which takes away from the diner/hometown feel.

Its a low lit place and what you would expect of a tavern. A nice little bar in the back with football games playing. Not too rowdy so i was able to enjoy my meal peacefully! The staff is very friendly and simply suggest to allow to sit wherever you want. I ordered the wings as an app and french onion soup. 10/10 loved the flavor of both and coulda ate double the amount as the full entree! Price is reasonable no complaints but I can see from other reviews its on the borderline of "pricey". Only complaint from me is that usually for the price, these meal include some french fries but the this restaurant opted to include a bag of potato chips. My cheesesteak hoagie was topped with plenty of meat and tomato/onion, unconventional, but i knew what i was ordering. It coulda used a bit more sauciness but overall was a good satisfying meal. No reason to downgrade the review because of this. Again for me - the apps were the star of the show.

The dining room is plenty large and they had outdoor tables as well. Our server was friendly and the food came out fairly quickly. I somehow never got around to writing this review, we were in 2021...eek. I was excited they had Peroni. Solid Italian beer that most places don't carry. It was also around $5 a bottle which isn't bad for import at all. The cheesesteak was not bad, but not great. Large onions just laid on top with American cheese. The roll was unremarkable. I enjoyed the wings but I thought they were heavily overpriced. They have since taken their prices down but a dozen was $17 at the time. It was around a time where there were wing issues as far as distribution, but that was high even for that time. $1.42 per wing is wild. The fries were crisp and tasted good. Not bad, not great. I know a lot of people who absolutely love it here so maybe I'm due to give it another shot and see if this was a day on the lower end of their capabilities.

Mountainhome Diner has been around for years and is your typical diner with all-day breakfast available. It's clean and the staff were exactly what you want in a diner with friendliness and hospitality. I went with a breakfast sandwich with bacon, egg, and cheese on a croissant with some well done potatoes. My friend had the scrapple with some scrambled eggs. I also had an orange juice. The orange juice I did not care for. Definitely not fresh squeezed. But the sandwich was excellent along with the potatoes. My friend also loved his coffee and scrapple with egg. My meal came to $11 not including tip. We'd come back!

The current owners since 2017 are husband and wife restaurateurs Ali and Etab Abullattif. The enormous menu features classic staples such as omelets, pancakes, eggs benedict, french toast, waffles, breakfast sandwiches, breakfast wraps, salads, sandwiches, paninis, burgers, seafood entrees, steakhouse entrees, and various Italian specialties too numerous to mention. My family and I visited Mountainhome Diner for lunch on a recent trip to the Poconos. It was actually are last morning on our trip and we were looking for a place to grab lunch before making the drive back to Connecticut. We had driven past the diner several times on previous visits to the area, but had never visited before. We decided to give them a try. It seemed like a classic American diner that you could find just about anywhere. There's no website, no social media accounts, just good old-fashioned diner staples. The staff were friendly and accommodating and they seated us at a booth. A go-to dish that my wife and I both like to get at classic diners is a Greek salad, and Mountainhome Diner's "Big Fat Greek Salad" (chopped iceberg lettuce, crumbled feta, olives, tomato, onions, peppers, grape leaves, house Greek vinegar) sounded like it was just what we were looking for. I ordered mine with gyro while my wife ordered hers with chicken. Those salads really hit the spot! For our sons, we looked to the Kids Menu. Our older son had the "Hot Dog with French fries" while our younger son had the "Chicken Fingers with French fries". They were both very happy with their dishes. We had a nice time at Mountainhome Diner and we're happy that we finally stopped in. We recommend them to anyone visiting the area!
