They neglected to submit to my health insurer the claim for my hearing aid reimbursement for more than three months. It's not a trivial sum of money; the reimbursement my health insurer offers is worth thousands of dollars. I spoke to the office a week ago and was promised that I would hear from the office manager, Anna, that day. I never did. Ever since day my calls have been diverted to the answering service. I asked the service to let Dr. Aretsky know that I have to speak to him urgently, but have heard nothing from anybody. My insurance company tells me that the time for processing my claim expires soon, so I may lose the reimbursement which I am entitled to, and which the Hearing Center assured me before I ordered the hearing aid that I would get. It looks like the only avenue open to me now is an office visit and a scene there.

After making the rounds through the years of trying to get my Mom great hearing aids, there was…read morenever an amazing outcome for her. Did she hear better? Yes, but the sound was not crisp & often could hear sound but not well. When my brother lost one of the hearing aids, I had to find a great place that understood her needs & truly cared about the outcome. I wasn't sure that was possible. I did some research online and made an apt at Ahren's. We were greeted warmly by both the receptionist and waited a short while to meet Kathy. Kathy took us into her office for a very thorough exam- something we had not experienced before at other places. There be an exam, yes, but not like this. Kathy immediately noticed that wax build up was an issue, certainly adding to the hearing loss. She cleaned the ears but could not clean one ear as well and sent us to the ENT to clean the wax. She gave my mom a loaner hearing aid until we ordered her new ones. You'd think this would be common before fitting for hearing aids but it was not what we'd experienced. We went back with the cleaned ears and further testing continued. Kathy discussed all the options and we decided on pair. We also got the phone & tv accessory.
