On the edge of the cute, very small town of Ovando, is Trixi's. It's a bar that serves good food. It says "family dining," so it must be ok for kids. Clean restrooms for "bucks" and "does." Air conditioned. Building looks a little rough but the food was very good. I'd read a review about their awesome homemade pie but they were out. Great service. read more

So happy to come upon Trixi's on our drive to Glacier from Bozeman. Cash/check only; ATM inside. Best burgers I've had in a long time. We both got the Hunter (mushroom, swiss) with side salads. Salads were fresh greens and better than bar food. It's quirky inside with friendly people. read more

Basic bar with food, out on the highway. More easily visible for westbound than eastbound travelers. I chose to sit as far as possible from underneath the antlered trophy deer heads. The menu offered assorted toppings for burgers, but my eye was caught by a local specialty in these parts, the pork chop sandwich. The (boneless, needless to say) chop had crispy thin breading with tender meat inside, on a toasted bun, dry with fixings on the side. Satisfactory for a small meal on the road. read more

We stopped here passing through. The owner was very welcoming and friendly. My wife had a work meeting and was allowed to use their wifi so she could get a connection. Our cell phones didn't work. We went all out for the typical bar appetizer foods. Service was good and we had a good experience. Cash only here. ATM is available. read more

STAY AWAY! My friends and I were driving from Bozeman to Whitefish and we needed to make a restroom stop and pick up some roadies. The blonde lady who was manning the bar refused to serve us unless we took off our masks. She literally yelled at me to take my mask off while I was trying to order beer. Ma'am. We are in a pandemic. If I didn't have COVID-19 then, I probably do now from her spraying everywhere. Also, me wearing a mask does not mean I am taking away your freedom, I promise. But what it did mean was me taking my business elsewhere. Regardless, a quick look at the menu had prices comparable to NYC restaurants. A hoedown bar. In the middle of nowhere Montana. Love Trixi's; one of our favorite Montana bars. Great memories of coming up here for steak dinners, BBQ, burgers, or just playing pool, hanging out and having a few beers. My brother has a crazy story about coming up here one time w/ a college friend who was drop-dead gorgeous when there happened to be a bachelor party going on. Long story short, they throught the best man had invited her to entertain them. Not to disappoint, she ended up dancing and donig a strip tease on the bar. Good times! Came back this week for the first time in quite awhile, and brought the kids. Still looks about the same. The little cottages in the front are falling into disrepair, and from the real estate sign, looks like the property might be for sale. There's a stage in the corner, but not sure if they still have live music - I hope so. We each got a burger, and they were really good, with and the fries were tasty, too - crispy, and tasted battered. They have some local Montana beer on tap and in bottles -- Moose Drool and some other good Big Sky brews, and a honey amber that was really nice. The only downside - our waitress was probably one of the meanest, rudest servers I've ever encountered. I won't go into detail, but it was over-the-top, and it wasn't just us. A group of four very friendly folks sat at the table next to us, we exchanged some pleasantries; the waitress came over, and was so rude to them that they walked out. Ordinarily, I'd knock off more than 1 star for this, but as my 10-year noticed, there was a sign out front adverising for new bartender/waitress, and "maybe that's why!" read more

I was hiking across America, walked up on this place. The ladies in here were very kind and friendly. They made me some good food that filled me up! I recommend Trixi's! Sometimes there is a wait but it's worth it. Nice general store down the hill too. read more

Excellent service and just ok food. Husband had burger & fries, I had the fried steak tips. Burger was a little too well done for my husband & my tips were lacking flavor. Prices were high considering we stopped for lunch. Would try other restaurant in town if back that way again. read more

This is one of those rare places that is quickly disappearing in this country...an old, well-weathered saloon, which if the walls could talk, could tell decades of tales. It's colorful, divey, reeking with history and charm. It's the kind of place that you'll find just about everyone and anyone from all walks of life, bellying up to the bar for beer or drinks, or just soda or coffee. It's where you go to find out the local gossip, where the locals meet up. They have wonderful pie. Their burgers look like they're pretty good, though I did not have one. I did have some sort of 'spicy chicken' meal, my wife had salmon. The salmon was waaaay overcooked...very dry. My chicken was nothing special and not particularly spicy. However, having traveled some 700 miles that day in a car, it was welcome. Overall, stick to the pie and the 'bar food' and you'll probably enjoy your visit. read more

We have a summer cabin in the area and always try to stop by Trixi's whenever we visit. The staff and other guests are friendly, the decor is classic (plenty of taxidermy), and they stock a good selection of local brews. The pie is made by a lady who lives on a nearby ranch, and it is outstanding! The rest of the food is old school - mostly burgers and sandwiches, a few steaks, salmon, prime rib, and a salad bar from 1975. Live music on Friday nights. We really like this place and hope you do, too. Try the Grouper! read more

I hate wrighting bad reviews... but I Stopped in for dinner they had prime rib on the board for $14 I ordered 2 and when I'm got my bill it was $64 the bar tender said the dinner was $30 each (plus my one beer $4) and was told the $14 was the lunch special it was 9pm pretty disappointed in the false advertisement of the price. Needless to say I left the food and only paid for my beer. Had i known it wasn't $14 I would have ordered burgers and most likely been a happy very customer! read more

You drive up an see the building.. This place looks a lot weathered.. Walk inside past the many cords of wood they have ready to heat the place up. Sat at the bar, where about six older men already sat. They were all drinking their domestic beers. Ordered a jami on the rocks, and a cheeseburger with bacon. I was asked if I wanted onions and fries. I asked if I could have the onions grilled, the bartender/cook looked as if this was something that had been asked for more than once. The Jami was poured deep. The burger was out in about 5 or 10 minutes. Lost track of time because of the Gang Wars show on the T.V. The bartender had the volume up in the kitchen, and it had been a while since i had seen T.V. The burger came. It was amazing! The cheese and bacon were a steamy mess on top of a huge patty. I dug in and was so impressed. I am assured that my friend was not offended by my groans. This was one of my all time burgers. Thanking the bartender/cook we were on our way. For a total of about $20, we got two Jami's, and two burgers with fries... Great place to get out and have lunch. Also when you are there go down the hill and check out the Boot out house.. What the hell was going on here. I loved this place. The bouncers and bartenders were friendly, as were most of the locals. Drinks are on the spendy side, but on Friday night every amazing redneck (with love) comes out of the woodwork for a live band and the most raucous country dancing you've ever seen. They also have Capcom games, foosball, and pinball when the club ain't bumpin. read more
