    New York strip

In search of the real deal rural Montana steakhouse? They were once almost everywhere, and so many have closed now, particularly along Montana Highway 200. But the Montanan Steakhouse, in a modern yet rustic and comfy building, keeps the time-honored tradition alive, and thriving. What makes a great Montana steakhouse?--fresh cut beef, cooked perfectly. I have never had a better New York strip--anywhere. So tender, juicy, and cooked a perfect medium rare. JUST AWESOME. My companion raved about the spicy sauced salmon, and truffle fries. My sides were equally good--Gouda au gratin potatoes and a julienne veggie mix. The real star, however, was the beef barley soup--wow, so creamy and the barley oh man. A good Montana steakhouse also calls for good drinks--no problem here. There's a solid selection of Montana microbrews, a better than expected wine list, and knock-down creative cocktails--all $10 or under. Finally a great Montana place needs a rustic, laid back setting with attentive friendly service. This place had a ton of charm and real, not fake, friendly vibes. Didn't want to leave!

Candied bacon is a must try. Yummm

Ok. Lincoln, Montana is famous for way more than the unabomber. For example, this place! Sooo much good food. Psst. They even have a salad bar in the evening. Do you know how rare it is to find a salad bar in today's world? I FOUND ONE. Anyways, the candied bacon on a stick is to die for. Try it. Just do it. You will thank me later. Also, try the huckleberry wings. I was pleasantly surprised. I expected sickly sweet but that is not at all the case. Such a nice pla or with a mild bite. Yum.

Great basic breakfast. Our server, Julia was friendly and attentive. Her humor kept us smiling. The eggs were cooked as ordered, the hash browns properly crisped, and the bacon delicious. The french toast was also a basic offering, but in the best of ways. Sometimes bells and whistles for breakfast do not fit your mood, and nothing will satisfy like what mom used to make. This place would make mom happy. We will plan on a dinner here in the future to try a steak in this pleasantly rustic setting.

The steak was 30.00 for the Ribeye I have no issue with the cost of it's worth it. I had to add salt and pepper no season what so ever. Save yourself some money order a sandwich. Glass of wine $7.00 for the house wine.

The steak came out perfectly cooked, a beautiful pink medium with a great sear and plenty of juices, served sizzling on a metal platter. What really stood out was the value. You'd expect to pay a premium for steak this good, but the prices are refreshingly reasonable -- a great cut at a price that's hard to beat. The menu keeps it simple and focused, which is exactly what you want from a proper steak house. Charming covered-bridge entrance, classic Montana atmosphere, and steak that delivers. If you're in Seeley Lake, don't skip it.

We happened to find Lindey's Prime Steakhouse and read the reviews. We happened to be a mile away! Not the simplicity of the menu and the flexibility that you can share a meal and have the meat cooked two different temperatures was very appealing. The salad was crisp and delicious and the salad dressing was wonderful. The garlic bread, albeit was a little overcooked. It was very tasty. The button mushrooms were tender and sautéed perfectly. The steak was amazing and a lot more than two people could complete in a meal. The potatoes were the only lackluster item that we received. They looked like some type of breakfast potato. They were a little bit undercooked, and there was a spice that was odd tasting on it. Otherwise excellent service, a great view and a great atmosphere and fabulous food There was a $2 charge for credit card that we weren't told about.

Patio for breakfast not realizing it was the place we were planning for dinner.  The egg burger was excellent but the side of potatoes fried in tallow and tossed in a house sauce were the best potatoes I've ever had and it wasn't particularly close. Service was quick, very friendly, and knowledgeable. Wood fired grill right in the middle of restaurant, vintage wood refrigerator, butcher block counters and tables all screamed that this restaurant has a soul and character. Breakfast was so good went back same night for dinner.  This was the best steak in years and the only cut available at that time.  The side of tallow fried onion chips and mushrooms were again the best preparation of fried onion I've ever had.  House sauce was great. Absolutely love coming here!

When we arrived, we walked in and found a butcher shop where you can purchase all sorts of things. Then we were walked back to the restaurant area and loved the industrial vibe of the restaurant decor. So much of the food in the menu looked delicious, and the server was very helpful in assisting us with narrowing down our selections. We each started with an adult beverage, and we ordered the unBELIEVABLY good Golden Beet and Plum Salad. It was amazing. This was one of the server's recommendations, and we were so glad we listened, cause it was excellent, and definitely not something we would have otherwise tried. The flavors of the beets and plums just worked amazingly well, and the crunch of the hazelnuts gave it a wonderfully unique texture. For our main courses, my wife enjoyed a Peach glazed pork chop with corn, tomatoes, and squash. It was Delicious! I had a skirt steak and added the Grilled Hen of the Woods fungus. My dinner was resting in a rich gravy, and was also delicious. We topped off our meal with an order of the Yukon Smashed Potatoes with Herbs. They were crispy, golden, and delicious. Now, we usually don't have enough room for dessert, but in this case we made an exception, and ordered the Strawberry Panna Cotta. It was creamy, it was sweet, it was very tasty. Our entire experience at The Union was excellent from start to finish. I don't remember where in my research I heard about it, but I'm so glad I did. And any future visits to the capital of the great State of Montana, will definitely include a stop at The Union for a meal.

Quick word of advice: if you're heading east toward Butte, you'll need to drive through the whole town of Drummond to get back on the interstate. Parker's Restaurant sits conveniently just off the highway and boasts what might be the largest burger menu I've ever seen -- over 100 different options. The interior is eclectic, packed with nostalgic touches like vintage glass Coke bottles and quirky figurines. You can order from printed menus or from the massive chalkboard that runs the length of the restaurant, listing entrees from end to end. Even on a busy late Saturday afternoon, we were greeted promptly and seated right away, though open tables were limited. Our drink order was taken and delivered quickly, and the server was ready for our food order whenever we were. The only downside was the wait time -- about 30 minutes from ordering to the table. I had a tough time choosing, but ultimately went with the Ultimate Patty Melt: two ¼-pound patties, grilled onions, grilled peppers, Swiss cheese, and Thousand Island dressing on grilled dark rye. The patties were fresh, thick, and clearly hand-formed in the kitchen. The onions and peppers added great flavor, though I found the Thousand Island a bit lacking. Luckily, their fry sauce was excellent and made a perfect table-side substitute. My buddy ordered the Chili Size, which was massive and also featured two ¼-pound patties. As with any chili dish, the chili itself makes or breaks it -- theirs was solid, loaded with both beans and meat, and you could clearly taste the ground beef in every bite. Overall, Parker's delivers a fun, old-school roadside diner experience with huge portions and plenty of burger variety. Perfect stop if you're cruising through Montana on I-90!
