The place was SO CLEAN that I thought they were closed! Nope, just nice and clean! The staff was SO friendly we wished we were locals. Instead we've marked it as a "must return to spot!" We were starving, it was late. Only the fryer was on, and the drinks were still being poured. That was enough for us! The chicken sandwiches were great! I guess it wasn't all fried, I had the house salad with their house made ranch dressing too! The tots, mashed up with cheddar and jalapeños are a no brainer, and that combo is near and dear to my heart! All time fave. We had a great time, good laughs, cold drinks and great food! The people who worked there were so friendly and nice, we had the best service. They serve all the food you typically crave when you've had a couple drinks in already - burgers, fried chicken, hot dogs, etc. We shared: - Fried gizzards: huge serving. Fried in a nice crispy batter, didn't taste gizzard-y if you know what I'm talking about. It was prepared very well. Come with cocktail sauce (thought this was interesting). - Broasted chicken with jojo's: my first time having either of these. Broasted chicken is essentially fried chicken cooked in a pressure cooker. It was still very juicy, even the white meat! Jojo's are fries cut a certain way - basically giant wedges. - Fish and chips: nothing overly special, just standard fish and chips. Overall, it was a great pit stop on the way back to Bozeman. Would come back but probably share since their servings are so huge. read more

I totally forgot to take a picture.. I had the Bacon Cheeseburger Deluxe with a side of fries and a corn dog (came with Lays chips). The burger was cooked to perfection, sooo juicy, and one of the best quality beef I have ever had! The fries are natural cut and very fresh and delicious. The corn dog was actually pretty good! For one, not many places have corn dogs, for another it was also great quality! Tasted fresh and not like it was frozen. The staff is super friendly and the atmosphere is pleasant. It is very hunter-oriented, especially this time of year (winter), but that has no bearing on whether you should eat here or not. Would recommend! read more

Pretty good. Standard bar fare. About 11 AM the place got pretty busy and the cook had to wait on us. There was only a cook and bartender. They were friendly and worked hard, but come early and expect to be there a while if it's close to noon. read more

Anyone coming to or going from Glacier NP on HWY 297 needs to stop in Augusta. This is about as authentic as rural MT gets. The Buckhorn Bar has plenty of draft microbrews and is definitely more bar these cafe. The food was passable, the ambiance and service e great. Kids will marvel at all the antlers and other dead animal bits. Restrooms are clean. Easy RV parking along the very short Main street. Be sure to visit the General Store next door for just about anything you could want or need. read more

So grateful that we found this place driving from Glacier to Bozeman. This place has a fantastic atmosphere, that makes you feel like you are in the middle of Montana. The Buckhorn is "firing on all cylinders!" We thoroughly enjoyed the cowboy-ish clientele sitting next to us as much as we loved the hunting-fishing atmosphere. But what will bring us north again is the onion rings! So delicious, crispy, hot, and lightly battered that they simultaneously crunch and melt. Our cheeseburgers were juicy, thick, and the meat hung over the grilled bun! They were served with some lightly battered crispy fries and all the trimmings for the burger. I ate here multiple times while working out in this area and kept on coming back. The best sandwiches and burgers in the wider area. We ate here so often, we got a copy of the menu, called in and ordered for pick up. However, the interior is quite nicely done and worth eating on site. As pretty much everywhere in the rural US it is impossible to find anything vegetarian on the menu, however the staff was really nice and made an excellent grilled cheese sandwich for grown-ups for me. If I ever make it back into this area, maybe on my way to Glacier, I will make sure to stop here again. read more

OMG. This place is flipping awesome. I ordered a BLT with onion rings. My husband got a cheeseburger and fries. I also got some coffee and my husband tried the key lime pie. Pretty good bar food to enjoy if you are passing through and do not eat that kind of food very often or you have been hiking/hunting all day. No good healthy choices for locals who might want to eat out and not want to kill themselves with crap food though. Most of the menu includes fried food. Do not expect any healthy options on their menu. The salads are the worst just white iceburg lettuce with a few chopped unripe tomatoes and some cheese. The only salads they offer are a crispy chicken salad which has chopped up fried chicken breast patty on top of iceburg lettuce, a few tomatoes and yet more cheese and a Chef's salad with cheap lunch meat over iceburg. Depending on who is cooking, the steaks, burgers, and sometimes the fried food may be burned/fried to a crisp or under cooked. The 8 oz sirloin came out dried up as a hockey puck when ordered medium rare. All the food comes from Food Services of America which is rich since the bar is located in "cattle country". I think the salad dressing might be the only homemade item on the menu. So if you like fried food dipped in Ranch you will be in Heaven at this place. read more
