Had to bring my wife here since my first visit with our Grandson was so positive. She wanted to split the Sausage Sampler, so split it we did. It was just as good as my first visit. The service was again pleasant, and the German beer selection solid. This is a great late lunch/early dinner destination offering unique (German) menu options for the Great Falls area. If you enter this place with an open mind and heart (and have the patience to wait a few minutes, as the best things in life do not occur instantaneously), you are sure to have an incredible experience. The Erbsensuppe (pea soup) tastes great. It came a little thick, but still very good. The Rahmschnitzel with Spätzle was very, very good. The schnitzel was lightly breaded and the cream sauce was tasty. The spätzle was made from scratch and was something to sink your teeth into. We started off with a pretzel that was thick and freshly baked. Very good. My husband had iced tea as he was driving, but I had the cider, which had a cinnamon undertone and contained Chai in addition to apple cider. It was wonderful. It was a quiet Sunday evening. This new addition to the Great Falls Downtown is super cool! It is unique and fun to go to. Each of the drinks we've tried have been delicious, my favorite thus far is the Extra Dirty Horndog - a grapefruit concoction made with habanero pepper, just the right amount of kick! The mulled wine and the hot bourbon are also delicious, the bourbon drink is created right at your table and is so cool to watch. The place is currently working on a remodel to expand the place but for now the limited seating offers a cozy vibe that adds to its charm. Definitely go check this place out! read more

Had the goulash, I grew up with this dish, I know it varies from region to region, but where is the paprika! Basically a stew, not supposed to be... good, but missed the mark. Had the schnitzel, wish it was pounded flat like they serve it In homeland, it was basically a pork cutlet. The pomfrets where amazing, amazing fresh pretzels, beautiful sauce to accompany it, great selection of beer! The potato salad again I know varies by region, but in all my time, never had it like that.. maybe the traditional warm potato salad with bacon and a little apple cider vinegar etc would be more fitting... sauerkraut was amazing, red cabbage? Didn't see it, cucumber salad? Didn't see it, all the usual suspects at the German table.. but over super worth the experience and great food for great falls. The hubby and I love going to this little pub located in downtown Great Falls. They have authentic drinks made in house by crafty bar tenders who know how to make a stiff drink! There's tons of German beers, mostly bottled or canned, but still very tasty. They have a cocktail menu as well and the mojito beer cocktail is my favorite. It's got Hefebrau & mojito accoutrements in a giant 30 oz stein. The freshness of the mint is absolutely divine! The atmosphere is loud and vibrant and the seating is very limited. However they now have a little area outside that you can sit and enjoy your drink. My husband really likes this drink called the Grey Lady's Ghost. It has Lagavulen scotch, bitters and a cherry. There may be another ingredient but I cant recall. The glass is smoked on an oak plank. Smokey and delicious this cocktail will keep you warm. They have gleuhwein which is a spiced wine that is served hot. Often served with cranberries or orange as a garnish highly recommend. read more

I don't know if it was an off night but our experience wasn't very good. We had family from out of town visiting and wanted some place new for dinner. We had heard good thinks about KellerGeist and decided to try it. When we first walked in there was no hostess but we were greeted with a messy waiting area with boxes of stuff, hanging T-shirts, and boxes of free used CD's from public radio. There were some active children playing around until a table tipped over on one of them. He seemed ok but holy moly! They were kind of busy but we did get seated. They did set a table for us with a pitcher of warm water, no ice and glasses. We eventually ordered drinks, I did ask what their cocktail special was but the waitress didn't know and didn't seem particularly interested in finding out. Ok, whatever, still excited to try some food we had heard about. My husband and his brother had gulasch, I had the Jagerschnitzel and sister in law had the small Kasespatzle. I have to say it was ok, nobody had their socks blown off. We were pretty disappointed, we had been looking forward to trying this place, the reviews had been so positive. As the evening progressed and while we finished our dinner and drinks one of the children mentioned earlier started rollerblading around inside the restaurant. We have grandkids around us all the time so we are no strangers to kids and enjoy them very much. However, when my husband got up to use the bathroom this young man about took him out at the knees. That could have not turned out very well. With all this being said, we eat out probably 3-4 times a week, we love seeing new restaurants in Great Falls and like to support them. We will probably try them again one of these days, try some different things. We wish KellerGeist well and hope our evening was just a glitch and is a better experience for us next time. read more

So I love it here... the beer is amazing and they will guide you through options based on your likes. The service has always been exceptional... until tonight. Not that super busy and we had to go to bar for drinks and we could not get attention of waitress for food. A little disappointed, but still would totally absolutely recommend. The wife and I tried this restaurant the other evening and where happily surprised. We didn't go "all out" but ordered their huge pretzel, a bowl of pea soup, the Wurstchen Sampler and a wonderful hefewizen bier. Wow, food was fresh, hot, plentiful and great tasting. We did eat early (just before 5:00PM) and our service was excellent and attentive. We will be going back to try their other dishes. read more
