Not only is Nicole incredibly skilled with her camera and use of natural and ambient lighting (even on a sort of gray, finicky day like ours was), but she's really gifted with working with cats (and I'm sure dogs, too). We did some of the portraits inside at home, and some outside in the garden near our house. Our cat, Cleo is seldom impressed by conventional toys or noisemakers but Nicole seemed to know exactly how to get him to look interested and cooperate - plus her magical cat toys must've had kitty crack on them -- Cleo loved them way better than anything we've ever gotten him. Also, it's worth saying that Nicole's method was very relaxed and flexible. She never forced Cleo into doing this or that - she let Cleo sort of lead the way, resulting in zero tension despite the unusual circumstances (from Cleo's perspective). Cleo is notoriously un-photogenic, given that he has black fur and always seems to hate it when I point my phone or camera at him. This is one of the reasons I felt it worth it to hire a pro. Cleo is almost 14 years old as I write this review - he's still really active and fun, but he's not getting any younger. I'm so glad I finally bit the bullet and hired Nicole for Cleo's pet portrait. It was worth every cent and she was such a pleasure to work with. I really like her personality and style, and especially the beautiful photos I ended up with. I am ever grateful for her service.

It's that good ... I recently hired Nicole to shoot portraits of my wife and pets (two dogs, Kaya and Shonee) and have to say that I am MORE than impressed with the results. Just last night I was reviewing the digital images when one of the photos really touched me. No exaggeration, my eyes were welling up with tears! There is something so special about her perspective, something so sublime about her style, that there aren't enough adjectives available to properly describe it. Beautiful. Powerful. Captivating. I recently won a silent auction prize from Faux-Toes at a charity fundraiser that I went to. I bid quite a bit on this item, thinking it included an hour session and at least the proofs of the session. When I received the GC from the chairperson, it basically stated, thank you for your donation of $50 and gave some basic info about the photographer and location of her studio with an expiration date of Sept. 30, 2011. I called 2 days later to reserve a time. I spoke with Kristin, the owner, set the time and date, but I asked if it were possible to call or email her back with the location because I hadn't made up my mind yet of where I wanted it to be. Mind you, this was all after we had discussed several locations, including Mt. Bonnell, already. She agreed to me getting back with her. About a week later, I emailed her with my idea of location to which she responded 2 days later, stating that the GC was only for her in-home studio and for a 20 min session, but if I wanted to have the session elsewhere, that would be an increase of $225 for an hour session on location. I was floored, but decided that I could drive out to Lakeway and have the session there. I proceeded to ask what the prize included exactly as the GC given to me was not very forthcoming in info. I was told that it was for only 20 min. of her time at her home studio. That's it. No proofs, no prints, no partial or full CD of pictures taken. If I wanted a partial CD of pics, that would be another $325 paid in full to her. Needless to say, I canceled the reservation and expressed my displeasure over the whole thing. For someone to participate in a fundraiser for a charity of noteworthy cause and only offer 20 min. of their time and nothing more is cheap and screams of only self-promotion in my opinion. She did offer to reimburse my donation if I were to mail the GC back to her. I declined because I didn't donate to be reimbursed. My heart was in the right place when I bid on the auction item, but Faux- Toes Studio Owner, Kristen Roedner's heart was not when she offered her services.

I had the pleasure of working with Norah when she came to shoot my Jack Russell, Toby and I after I found out he was diagnosed with cancer. I was told he probably didn't have much longer to live and he had been such a huge part of my life since he came into this world. While he was still active I wanted to capture his spirit and our bond with some professional photos. I stumbled upon Norah Levine Photography and I am so thankful that I did. After I reached out to Norah through her website she was very quick to respond and before we even talked about photos or business, she wanted to hear about me and Toby. I could tell immediately that Norah was very sincere and passionate about not just photography, but the special bond between animals and their guardians. We set up a time to come meet Toby and go over the vision I had. Norah came by and she was so warm, kind, and spent a lot of time getting to know Toby and his big personality. We talked about the things I wanted to try and capture, and how we would go about that. Norah was extremely knowledgeable, professional, and patient with all my questions (and there were a lot!). She put me at ease as I was a bit nervous because this was so important to me. On the day of the shoot, we had so much fun and the whole time everything flowed naturally and went very smoothly, which can be a huge challenge when you're trying to get the still attention of a JRT. Norah was very creative and thorough - she had great ideas on backdrops, locations, angles and all those technical things - she was a pro. I could not wait to see how things turned out! Soon after our shoot Norah was able to share proofs of the photos from the shoot. I couldn't believe how amazing they turned out! I was all smiles and tearing up because she truly captured what I had hoped for and the photos were beautiful beyond what I imagined. Norah offers electronic and physical copies of your photos which was very important to me, including photo books and other beautifully-crafted items. I still show off my pictures with pride to friends, family and coworkers. It never fails that I get gasps, "ooh's" and "wow's." Toby has survived his battle with cancer and is doing very well. I will treasure these photos for a long time to come and if you are looking to capture something or someone the very best way possible, you have found her. Your trust will not be misplaced. I'm trying to think of any part of the process that could have been improved but I truly have only positive things to share. I am very thankful to Norah for her amazing work, professionalism, thoughtfulness and sincerity.
