Lucky that I happened to come across a Groupon for a tasting here, so many years back. You really don't need a discount in the first place; it's wildly affordable. After that introduction, I've been a huge fan and supporter even since. Blink and you'll miss it; it just looks like another warehouse from the side of the road. And, well, it is! This where the action happens and the bottles are born, you're just lucky enough to be invited inside. Unpretentious, chill, and down to earth. It's even dog-friendly so everyone's welcome here. I've loved everything I've tried, from whiskey to gin, but the sassafras liqueur is really something special. I don't know of a single other example on the legal market. Hidden gem located in Pacifica. Was Yelping breweries in the area and Tripp distillery came up in the search, looked like a unique experience so knew we had to give it a try! Tasting was offered/lead by Jason, the owner/spirit maker. They offered a you-choose flight of 3 with about 8 different liquors to pick from. They had all the ones pictured on the board as well as a couple that hadn't quite made full production yet. Between my boyfriend and I's flights we were able to taste 6. Went with rum, brandy, sassafras, a red vodka not on the list, a special blue lotus flower gin, and the single malt whiskey. The liquors tatsted great and it was a lot of fun talking with Jason about how he makes the different spirits. Can't wait for that blue lotus flower gin to be available for purchase! We didn't spend a long time here as it was a 3 taste max, but it was a fun little pit stop on our day. The entrance was a little hidden, but we saw the sign and knew we were headed in the right direction. There's no real big front entrance, just their name on a door letting you know they're there. The distillery is a bit off the beaten path but a great spot to check out. I had a Groupon so a friend and I stopped by for a tasting. There's a max of three tastings so we tried the gin, whiskey, and Sassafras which apparently has naturally occurring MDMA. My favorite was the whiskey which had a nice smooth finish to it. The gin is a beautiful blue so of course I had to buy it because it's my favorite color. The Sassafras was also pretty good and probably my second favorite of the three. Jason was really nice and answered all questions. I took a Lyft but noticed that parking wasn't hard to find with plenty of spots nearby. Went here to taste some spirits with an old friend. It's a bit hard to find at first but the distillery itself has a very relaxed vibe. We each tasted 3 different spirits and I ended up purchasing the barrel aged coconut filtered vodka. Owner was awesome and was more than helpful and knowledgeable! Will be coming back! read more

Ok so I went and it was not the most welcoming or comfortable place. It's obvious they are there to make an incredible product. I'm not sure if it was the owner, but it was the only person there that helped me. He was friendly and knowledgeable. Like super friendly. Great guy. I was there by myself but there were several groups of people trying everything. I knew what I was going to buy but I wanted to try a few things first. The rum is amazing. They gave me samples of virtually everything in the house. The next time I go back I'm getting a bottle of the bourbon. They were all out when I was there. This is a sipping rum, don't mix it. Small batch distilleries have a special quality. I've visited a few times. His vodka is super smooth (the owner, Jason Tripp made a vodka cranberry cocktail for me to try). I bought a bottle of vodka & rum for myself & gin as a gift for a friend. He told me that the green gin turns blue when it's introduced to an acidic ingredient, such as quinine water. Jason has won awards for each of his liquors. He said that owning his own distillery is a dream come true. No food available. Street parking is pretty easy. During Covid, Jason made hand sanitizer which was 70% alcohol, thus extremely flammable but effective & selling for $1 per oz. Update! As of 5/6/2020, Due to the City of Pacifica, hand sanitizer will no longer be offered. read more

Small and quaint lil vodka distillery in Pacifica. Met the owner, who was a joy to talk to. You could tell that he enjoys what he does. I came on a Friday and he was grilling up oysters for everyone for da free. SAY WHAT?! Where can u get free grilled oysters at nowadays?? The vibes are more locals feeling, but everyone there was pretty friendly. I saw people bringing in food from taquerias, which made me hungry since they didn't sell food. They did provide peanuts in bowls lol I think I ate a whole bowl... oops. If u give me alcohol, I'm bound to get the munchies lol. Tip to self and everyone else: BRING YOUR OWN FOOD. Don't be like me and eat a whole bowl of peanuts by accident HAHAH. Tip #2: this place is located in an alley, walk up 50 feet and there's a small door you enter into. Very small little eclectic place that seems like a literal whole in the wall spot. Disorganized tasting area and service was good. We tried the whisky that was ok. The brandy is smooth but only has one bite to it and then it falls flat on the back end. I really don't see it as sipper to enjoy multiple times. After that we paid and left after trying 2 spirits. If your military be careful not to try the Sassafras Liqueur, it may have naturally derived ingredients that will not be good for your career according to the server. We are new to the Pacifica area. The Tripp Distillery is a really nice local discovery of ours. One day we accidentally got in the alley and found this pearl. The vodka, rum and gin are distilled right here at the spot. You get awesome tasty mix drinks and free tastings and a free drink with every purchased bottle. We are here almost every week to meet the local people that have become our friends. We can really recommend this spot on Fridays to Sundays. I stopped by yesterday to check it out. Very neat small batch place. Very cool to see the process in action. I had a screwdriver with the vodka in it and it was extremely smooth. I am looking forward to trying that the Rum. It is so great to see small local businesses like this start up in Pacifica. This is a small but very creative distillery, and clearly a labor of love for the owner. We even got to meet his father/partner visiting from Arizona. I really enjoyed the Red Vodka (no communists here!). Nice smokey flavor. And the aged run had an enjoyable complexity as well. Apparently the Red Vodka is a hot seller at Hoffman's down the street as they cleared the place out of the remaining stock just before we got there. A nice problem for the owner to have. I've visited a lot of distilleries, but this is the one distillery that I'd visit again and again. It's a truly unique experience run by one guy (and his loyal dog) on the weekends. On weekdays, Jason Tripp holds down a normal job, and on weekends, he distills rum, vodka (from rum), and gin (also from the rum) in the small single-room garage/warehouse. His young daughters sometimes help him label his bottles. The visit there is a blast: not only are Jason's spirits yummy, but his tasting only costs $6 and includes a cocktail, flight, and a sausage. What a find, this is a true hidden gem in Pacifica and is worth the visit! DOG - Super Friendly!! They make RUM and what a rum it is! Their aged Rum has hints of tropical notes like that of something twice the price from a well known brand. Use it as a whiskey replacement in a Manhattan (called a Cuban Manhattan) or in the most perfect Rum and Coke you have ever had (of course using Coke with Cane Sugar) or just on the Rocks for a 'refined' treat. Their vodka is made from their rum base and holds a slight sweet note on the finish. Boy does this make a Great Vodka Dirty Martini. Jason is a true Master Distiller and you can visit with him while sampling the product every weekend. Looking over the still and the team often busy bottling on-site. The passion in this product is VERY apparent and if you are in the area you should really stop by. This is a true small batch distillery and worth the visit for a tasting or picking up a bottle for friends or a great time. Pricing is GREAT and definitely one of my favorites. read more

Many decades ago, my dad's family lived in Harlan County, Kentucky. They were in the business of making very high quality moonshine whisky. The still was so clean that you could perform brain surgery there. No one ever got sick drinking my grandfather Jim's products. I have been aware of Tripp Distillery for quite a while. I assumed that it was a brewery making nice craft beers. They had free waffles and bacon. I decided to go over and give it a try. It is at 1121 Palmetto. It is very hard to find. It is truly "a hole in the wall." I found it and went in. Everyone was humble and dressed down. It looks like a humble operation. I started to talk to the owner Jason and his domestic partner Victoria. They were very intelligent. The other clients looked humble but were very intelligent. The staff was nice and made me feel right at home. I had two bacon and jalapeno Bloody Mary's. They were top 1%. I bought a vodka and a rum that he had made. I was given samples of other great whiskey that they make. This is a place for great whiskey, great company, and a venue to "let your hair down and relax. I will be back!!! read more
