I got cannolis (they fill when you order). I was really looking forward to them. I've only had boston bakery cannolis so I had high hopes as the ones from there were delish. The shells were hard as hell. I tried one of all the fillings. I only remotely liked the ricotta one. The others tasted like sugar free pudding. I threw them out in fact. I did have tiramisu from here as well and ended up really liking it. But I would not get another cannoli from here. I've had the pizza too and would rate it like a 5 out of 10. This is my favorite local bakery! It has everything you could want, it has freshly baked breads, all different kinds of cakes, cookies, you name it, they have it! The staff is always very friendly and the atmosphere is homey and comforting. They have made to order cannolis, we got the pumpkin and it was rich and creamy with a crunchy shell. They knew it was for my three sisters who have November birthdays and he put three beautiful flowers on it too. One for each of the, The taste, the presentation and the service was outstanding. It doesn't need more good reviews but I just had to add: I've been to a lot of Italian bakeries in Boston and NYC, and I've purchased a LOT of biscotti. An old time favorite of mine. My dad's family grew up in Lawrence , so I'm very familiar with this yummy bakery. Great memories of going there and still try to stop in when as I can, as my dad and his family has passed on. I was recently in there on Saturday 12/9. I had pre ordered a rum cake and decided to add to my sweet tooth. Needed to get my cannoli fix. Maria assisted me on my cravings. She was awesome!! Great personality! I could have stayed all day and chatted with her, she just had the brightness about her. I also went next door to order meat pie. The guys were very nice. I arrived to pick it up and my cake was no where to be thought of and not one worker there even knew about my order! They seriously need to be more organized before they ruin someone else's event. I recently discovered Tripoli's cakes and damn why didn't I find them years ago! I have to actually thank my husband for finding them when he surprised me with a cake back in January for my birthday from Tripoli. A last minute gathering with friends to surprise me had him calling around that morning and that included our go to place Spinnellie's. However they would not make a cake the same day. My husband eventually found Tripoli and a nice gentleman said he could do it but he would need a few hours. After that delicious cake I started ordering cakes there myself and both times I ordered them from the Lawrence Bakery. The staff was very helpful and friendly the first time I went in needing a Red Sox themed cake for my husband. I was a faithful Spinnellie's customer for years but not always happy. They had made mistakes on my orders and their prices were getting crazy. When I tried Tripoli's cake I noticed a much better taste and quality. I recently did a side by side taste test of Spinnellie's chocolate cake with buttercream frosting and Tripoli's chocolate cake with buttercream frosting. Tripoli was creamy and tasted like real buttercream and the cake had a nicer flavor than Spinnellie's. Spinnellie's buttercream tasted waxy and it had an imitation flavor. The cake was not as tasty as Tripoli's. Hands down Tripoli's cake is the best! Tripoli also has better prices for their products compared to Spinnellie's. They are open on holidays too so if you run out of something there is always someone there! read more

I love tiramisu. I am a tiramisu snob. On my birthday my husband forgot order me a cake so he went to tripoli and ordered me my fave cake because he thinks it's italian bakery! Must be their specialty! And bought 6 of them too! Present it to me, I was excited too, ate it, OMG yuck! Super super sweet and oily. Never have I ever eat tiramisu like that. Idk what do they made the cream with but it left oily taste in my mouth. Not to mention the sweetness over the top. The reason I love tiramisu is because their sweet level is always low. Because it made of mascarpone cheese and cocoa powder where it cut down the sweetness all the sweetness of the pastry. This cake whoa we gave the rest to our neighbor kids. My wife and I visited this store location, in Lawrence yesterday, on Valentine's Day. The nice ladies behind the counter were quick to provide service. But both my wife and I were having one of those days, where one might think it was the first time we were ever in a bakery. (We are getting up there.) My favorite bakery since I was old enough to start enjoying cookies!! And they are still home to my favorite cookie ever- their cherry macaroon! I no longer live in Massachusetts, so I can only get it when I go home and when my Mom sends it to me! Though, I did recently find out that they ship these now so that is very, very exciting! FYI, I really wish they could open up one in Northern Virginia. There are absolutely zero Italian bakeries in the Northern Virginia - Washington, DC area!! I seriously love all their cookies here, such as all the wonderful macaroons, especially the cherry and pistachio ones. Their lemon cookies are amazing, their rolls, their pastries and rum cakes. During the fall, they have the most amazing collection of pumpkin items, especially their pumpkin cannoli!! It is worth making a special trip here just for that! And the macaroons of course!! Of course, there is also their pizza!! It's also one of my favorite pizzas ever! It's so unique! I love the sweet sauce! There's nowhere else I know of that has a sauce that comes anywhere close to it!
