Earthlight Solar & Energy Solutions - Ellington, CT

    Earthlight Solar & Energy Solutions

    (12 reviews)

May 20, 2025 My "go…read morelive date" was May 13, 2025, and I've been enjoying my new solar panels for 7 days. Though most of those days weren't all sunshine (lots of clouds and some rain), my solar panels produced more electricity than my home used every one of the six days. I didn't expect that, but I am very happy that's the case. I'm also a happy Earthlight Solar customer. Those who know me can tell you my personality could be described as a bit "anal retentive". I like to understand the details. As a result, I do lots of research and ask lots of questions. That makes some people, especially salespeople, unhappy. When I embarked on my solar journey, I understood very little about solar systems and buying options. I didn't know what a PPA was, or that I would be receive quotes for 5 different panel wattages across six different manufacturers. I interviewed 10 companies and got additional quotes from 5 more. Some solar companies were local to Massachusetts/New England and others were national. Some vendors proposed systems with microinverters while others proposed string inverters. Sometimes I got a reply to a question that didn't make any sense and I "did the math" to show the salesperson why felt that was the case. In one situation, the salesperson was flustered and never called me back after having visited my home. If you're getting the message that I'm not the easiest customer, you'd be right. In my experience, it's rare to have a "perfect" experience with any company/vendor. There's always some issue. (In my case, multiple issues including having the solar design rejected by my town's building department twice...) What matters to me is how the company addresses those issues. My experience with Earthlight Solar was not perfect, but it was very good. Again, that's why I'm a happy customer of Earthlight. When we experienced questions or issues, a member of the Earthlight team addressed them to my satisfaction. Every member of the Earthlight team I met or spoke with was knowledgeable, polite and professional. They were all responsive, respectful, they answered my questions, and they seemed interested in doing a good job. In particular, Earthlight's Day 1 electrician was sensitive to the questions of conduit placement and what I would like / allow both for conduit in the barn as well as in the attic. He wanted to ensure a smooth, clean look that wouldn't stand out on my house and barn. He also noted that my main power cable was not secured to the side of my house (it wasn't his issue) and he made sure that was addressed (strapped down) before he left. I also strongly feel that my sales executive, Orlando Rodriguez, was honest, direct and had my best interests at heart. At no time did Earthlight "badmouth" their competitors which was certainly not the case with some other solar companies. One in case, another local company and the runner up in my evaluation, not only badmouthed Earthlight but they provided misleading information. Clearly, I'm not alone in my happiness with Earthlight. I was getting a haircut and mentioned that I was in the process of installing solar. The barber asked me who the company was and after I told her, she said "my husband and I got solar from them too". I asked my barber if they were happy with Earthlight and she said that they were. If any reader of this review would like to speak with me about my Earthlight experience or would like information about the electricity production of my 22-panel solar system, I'm happy to speak with you. Just contact Earthlight and get my phone number from Orlando or one of the other company representatives. IRA KELLER

After talking with friends we reached out to Valley Solar and they explained that there isn't such a thing as 'free solar and roof replacement'. While I think we knew this it was good to hear from the experts. The team walked us through the federal, state and utility incentives and explain in detail how the technology works. We are so glad to have found an honest local company. We have almost a dozen friends, neighbors and family members that have used Valley Solar and all sang their praises - now we know why!

It is unprofessional to speak so badly and make false claims against a competitor. Here's an…read moreexact quote from one rep, Martin. I am omitting the name of the competitor. Up to you if you want to use a company who speaks falsely of other companies. They claim they are the best company in the valley. According to the reviews though, they are not. And BTW, this company never even did a site visit while 2 others did. "We all are scratching our heads as to how XXXXXXX could come up with the inflated production numbers they are showing you on paper. It is known in the industry that their estimates are typically higher than ours or PV2 but this is an exceptionally high estimate given the tree coverage on the property. I understand the allure to proceed with a company showing you the highest production on paper but ultimately if you have 2 other companies telling you you'd need more panels to get close to where Northeast is promising it should be a good sign that it is not our data but theirs that is off. We are sad to see a local company over promising this much to win deals. It is public data (and I am passionate on saving folks from being taken advantage of), so I will share - XXXXXXXX's business is down ~40% this year, perhaps they are desperate to win projects and are resorting to unethical tactics. Valley Solar has grown by 8% this year, one of the only solar companies in the state to grow during the past year which saw a down turnover in solar installations statewide. This system is priced at just $2.96/watt - our average installation cost is $3.84/watt. This is an amazing opportunity to get Valley Solar as your long term solar provider at less than $3/watt! We did not sub out equipment for cheaper options either, you are receiving best in class REC solar panels! On top of this, your system will be monitored by our in-house performance monitoring system 'SunAlert.' I hope you can respect my openness and honesty. I know you will thank us for years to come! I hope to get to work with you on this project. Please let me know if you have any questions and or if you are ready to get rockin' and rollin' with the project.

Very easy to do business with. I spoke to Andrew , the mini-split manager, who organized every detail for us. Our installer was Max. Max did a fantastic job. Max is detailed oriented and meticulous in his manner of installation. Other companies wanted to install the compressor the easy way and set the compressor in a cart on the ground. I didn't want that. Max fastened my compressor to the house foundation on a stainless steel bracket off the ground. I am an auto mechanic by trade and can really appreciate the finished look of a quality installation. I would highly recommend Northeast Solar to anyone that is considering mini-splits. Bob T.

I appreciated Justin's transparency regarding the time crunch, and the generous 10% discount he offered if the work couldn't be completed in time. As it turned out, the crew had everything installed and interconnected by early November. From permitting to working with the credit union to the final switch flip, they were calm, professional, and efficient. We were well informed every step of the way, and the installation process itself was remarkably chill in terms of commotion and time. Northeast Solar also installed my in-laws system several years ago, and we've all been very pleased with their work.

Thankfully my wife picked them up first. I had been told the sales rep would be onsite the day of install. I thought it was bizarre. How can you be on site for these installations and selling the product you must be spread pretty thin, to which I was told that's how we do business. No show up by the sales rep. I'll leave his name out for now. I received a text saying he had a conflict appointment (which is understandable) but the kicker for me was he had the audacity to ask me on a Friday night to send pictures of the install. The icing on the cake was the folks digging the trench from my garage to the main house showing up zero notice. After I made it ABUNDANTLY CLEAR to notify me first. I have several hurried utilities, sprinkler lines, electric and my well pump that I wanted to make the foreman aware of. A simple schedule call ahead was a small ask. Received a phone call from my wife "who is working in our yard and why are they digging?" Again super avoidable if someone had just called or kept true to their commitment. Now I've asked for all of the installed equipment to be removed from my house. Not a company you want to do business with if it doesn't make you a priority. I mean, I guess I should've expected this. They are just the installer zero skin in the game. Buyer beware.
