There are zero rails or ramps to enter the cabins. The entire facility lacks accessible toilets, bars to help you get up from or lower yourself onto the commode. I literally got stuck the first time I used the toilet, not being able to grab onto anything to help get up off of it. If you plan on bathing there you are out of luck. The shower in my cabin was literally 2 1/2' - 3' wide by 20" deep. No way a shower chair could fit in there, it was way too small. With only the shower head terminating from the wall, sans a hand held shower wand, it proved quite a difficult task to get clean. With zero bars to hold onto to get in, out of, or to steady oneself while within the shower. It was a quite scary ordeal worrying about slipping and falling. The doorways to the bedrooms and bathroom are not wide enough to get through with a walker or wheelchair. Within the bedrooms, there is very little clearance from the bed to the wall. Since I cannot climb stairs, the only place I could sleep was in the downstairs bedroom, or in the living room on a futon. I was left with the futon due to there being two of us with physical limitations. I needed two people to get the futon flat, suitable for sleeping. I looked in the pantry and the bedroom closet in vain, as there were not any sheets, pillows, or blankets available for the futon. The pathways around the resort are not paved so you will have to contend with gravel, compacted dirt, inclines, and grass that are not conducive and quite difficult to traverse with wheelchair, walker, etc.. The resort is quite beautiful and stunning. Other than the difficulties we had with the lack of amenities, we had a fabulous visit. It is too bad that the deficiencies limited what we could experience around the entire grounds.

It is a drive to get to, but once you're there you don't want to be anywhere else. We toured the venue, maybe a year or two ago and at the time they were only doing five weddings a year is what Margie said, but it seems like they've really ramped up weddings as more vendors are familiar with the location and from their Instagram. They also updated their website and it's really nice. They supply chairs and tables and helped tear down and clean them. Elizabeth (the facility coordinator) responded to my every text in a timely manner and answered all my questions and even double-checked on things for me, (they had rollaway beds and pack and plays for my friends flying in with children). I do think they could put up lights in the orchard permanently, we had to buy some to hang before the wedding, but they did have a ladder. Luckily Elizabeth mentioned it to me beforehand so we had a chance to buy lights at Costco because once you're up there there's really nowhere to go and you don't have service unless you're on the Wi-Fi. I really don't mind this though because I really wanted to be disconnected lol. They turned over the bridal cottage for us the night of our ceremony and reception and they put rose petals and made the bed look so fancy and gave us champagne and I thank you card. It was very sweet and special and I really appreciate them cleaning up everything. I know it was probably was very messy. I don't know if they will offer this in the future instead of but I would love to be able to just book the bridal cottage for future anniversaries instead of booking the entire home, we love the main home but it is too expensive for just a couple. Even just renting out a room would be super sick. I don't care if there are other people there. My husband's one request for our venue was to have a cigar bar, a lot of venues do not allow any form of smoking so it was great they have designated smoking areas. I would probably add smoking area signs but I get not wanting to impact the aesthetics of the space. We designed our rehearsal dinner around the venue. Very cool saloon, and it was such a fun place for us all to gather and play music and watch movies and have games going so that was very very special. When I needed a break I could go sit on the very comfortable couches in the living room. Also for anyone concerned, the venue is very modernized and I don't think we had a single thing we needed or would have wanted that they didn't have on site. Our guests staying on property could not believe how nice and maintained the house was. Pictures don't do it justice!

Room 10 in the tastefully restored midcentury motel was our choice because it offers arctic AC! Seriously, this small LG unit is quiet and effective! The two queen beds were perfect. We pushed them together to make a giant family bed for our two enormous beasts. Don't worry, we are seasoned travelers and brought king sheets to put on top for the dogs. The mattresses are memory foam! We love them as we have a tempurpedic at home. The train is far enough in the distant from this room that it's quite pleasant to hear the sound across the river. Make your coffee and stroll over to view Mount Shasta from the benches provided in the morning, but the really photo op is just after sunset when the mountain glows. Note, the pine tree sap will drip on your vehicle if you park in the designated spot for room 10. If you back in, it gets on the windshield. Nose first, not so much. We travel with windex and microfiber cloth, so we were prepared. What's nice is all the options for a stay at this resort. If you want a cabin with a hot tub it's available, or an Airstream, the have rows of them. It's a nice walk down to the botanical gardens and the river. This would be an ideal location for a group event. Many folks recommended coming back in the Fall, so hope to return again.

The dining car was a special treat, the meal overall was very good but could have been better with a little attention to detail. We ordered a couple glasses of pinot noir with our dinner and when they arrived they were noticeably warm like 80-85 degrees like they had been roasting in the sun , not a pleasant room temp like they should be. We also ordered a large caesar salad that we all split and the lettuce was warm like it was sitting in a window soaking up the sun, plate was not chilled and even if it was it couldn't have cooled down hot lettuce, salad was light on dressing , the halved petite romaine was very bitter, i've purchased this lettuce at costco a couple times and stopped buying it because the petit romaine tends to be very bitter, i love the consistency of the smaller denser heads of lettuce but the bitterness is unpleasant .....hopefully the chef is tasting his food and can see what he thinks. My wife ordered the pasta with shrimp and loved it! My dad had the rib eye and said it was pretty good but maybe not 57$ good. The pasta dishes were 10/10 amazing , reasonably priced and generous in size , the warm wine and salad is an easy fix, it was a nice treat after a week of camping and cooking to not have to , so highly recommend giving them a try for dinner during your stay!! Mountain scenery was incredible from the campground!! The pool was a little crowded at times but we enjoyed a couple hours of pool time both days. We've been going to railroad park resort since the 1990's and eating there every time we come through town - 2-3 times a year. They used to make a great steak, with a deep dark sauce with mashed potatoes and veggies. I recently ordered the steak - $58.00 - making it the most expensive entree in the area (including the high end places in Mccloud, etc) and it had no sear. was under cooked. Had no seasoning. No sauce. The potatoes were rubber and the veggies were gross. The pork chop was similarly under-cooked and had the same sides -so same feedback. I looked for a manager to talk to and couldn't find one. So I messaged them on facebook and they told me I could come by any time and talk to the cook. Where was the cook the night I was there? I was told there was no manager to talk to. I only eat their when vactioning and can't just pop in. I live 5 hours away. If they're going to raise their prices from $40 to $60 for a steak - they need to up their gave. Instead they dropped the ball. The food isn't worth it and they don't care.

Stranded After Midnight -- No Entry Code, No Staff, No Help…read more Our experience with the Mossbrae Hotel was completely unacceptable. Our Amtrak train arrived in Dunsmuir shortly after midnight. We knew in advance that the hotel used self-check-in and that there would be no traditional front desk. We had been told that an entry code would be sent to us so we could get into the hotel when we arrived. The code never came. There was no desk clerk, no one there to let us in, and no immediate assistance available. We were effectively stranded in a small town after midnight with nowhere to stay. My wife is 69 years old, and we were left outside trying to figure out what to do in the middle of the night. If it had not been for the extraordinary kindness of strangers who drove us roughly 10 miles to Mount Shasta, I honestly don't know what we would have done. We finally found a room at the Best Western and got inside at around 3:00 in the morning. My wife became ill with a cold afterward that affected the remainder of our trip. What makes this especially infuriating is that I had specifically questioned the hotel's self-check-in arrangement before our trip. I asked what would happen if a guest could not access the entry code and was assured that guests did not have problems getting in. Then the very thing I was concerned about happened: we arrived after midnight and could not enter the hotel because they failed to send the code. While we were stranded outside, we looked through the windows. The interior looked more like a rundown secondhand store than the hotel we thought we had reserved. There was another disturbing sight. A sister property connected with the Mossbrae Hotel had a large official notice stating that the building was condemned and unsafe to enter, bearing the building inspector's seal. It was clearly posted on the building. Seeing that after being stranded outside Mossbrae in the middle of the night certainly did nothing to inspire confidence in the operation. But the central issue is simple: a hotel that accepts reservations from passengers arriving on a scheduled Amtrak train after midnight has an obligation to provide those guests with a reliable way to enter the property. Self-check-in may save the hotel the expense of staffing a front desk. It becomes completely unacceptable when their system fails and leaves paying guests standing outside after midnight with no one there to help them. We were fortunate that complete strangers were willing to help us. Guests should not have to depend upon the kindness of strangers to rescue them from a hotel's failed check-in system. I would never stay at the Mossbrae Hotel again, and I cannot recommend it to anyone arriving in Dunsmuir on the Coast Starlight.

I had this property recommended by a friend and decided to try it. The good things were, it was…read moreclean and they allow pets. The rooms all run along a wooden walkway facing the parking lot. I was notified there would be construction from 9 to 5 which wasn't a problem for me as I was arriving after 5 and leaving before 9. What was a problem was that the parking lot was roped off so you had to park on the outer edges rather than in front of the room, I was in 18. This was a bit of an issue for me as one of the reasons I booked was that just coming off of a knee replacement I wanted a room that I could park directly in front of. If they had disclosed this, I would have gone somewhere else. Secondly, the pillow situation was pretty horrible, old feather pillows which flattened down to nothingness, no support at all. The heating unit was one of those old wall units with a really loud fan, so couldn't keep that on. Hot and cold water difficult to get in shower, so either scald or lukewarm. there was no space to put items above sink on tiny shelf. I would not stay there again.
