The music is like a little folk concert, which may or may not be your thing. (I prefer a mix of folk & traditional.) The people were nice enough, but not VERY welcoming. I attended a few interesting events and people were polite and certainly no one made me feel unwelcome in any way, but no one reached out, either. There is a skill to making new people feel welcome, which most churches like to think they have, but few do. One seemingly nice couple sat next to me for about a month & always said "good morning!" but never introduced themselves. I tried, but their attention was called away, so it never happened. It was like that.
They have 2 "preachers", one is the pastor and I liked him a lot. He always said something interesting and relevant, is intelligent, articulate & funny. [He always sends the kids off to Sunday school with, "Have fun storming the castle!", which I'm sure none of them understands, but always makes us adults smile.] The other is the associate pastor and he is likewise intelligent and funny and gives relevant sermons. He had 2 habits, though, that drove me around the bend. He repeatedly addresses the congregation as "Church", which is like fingernails on a blackboard to me. [To make a comparison, I feel the same way when my colleagues open an email, "Dear Team". Yeesh.] And he says several times in each sermon, "AMEN??", which is like the annoying person on your team always saying, "AMIRIGHT????" The 2 preachers trade off & I found myself attending church only when the lead pastor was leading the service. So, in addition to the church members not being very skilled at welcoming and developing relationships with new people, it's hard to establish oneself in a church when you attend only every other week.
I have nothing genuinely negative to say - they seem to be good, kind, thoughtful people & they have a wide variety of demographics, groups & events. If you are looking for a Presbyterian church, this is a certainly good one, but probably easier for a couple than a single person attending alone. It's vital that the community reach out as much as possible & you feel good about attending every week. And, as I say, most churches like to think they're welcoming, but can't see it from a newbie's POV. This is one of them.
